This applied psychology degree uses psychological research methods to understand and interpret social and human behaviour in the context of education, wherever and whenever it happens throughout people’s lives.

As with our BSc Psychology in Education, education is conceptualised as lifelong and in many different contexts.

The British Psychological Society accreditation means that successful students are eligible to apply for professional training as a psychologist.

If you achieve the required grades at the end of the first year, you will spend your third year at a partner institution overseas. See Global Opportunities for more information.

The course currently includes an optional placement unit, Education in Practice, where you will have the opportunity to connect your academic learning with the practice of education on a placement within a school, community organisation, charity, museum or other relevant organisation.

Students acquire valuable skills spanning two, rapidly changing disciplines that inform each other. You will apply psychological theory and research to real-life educational settings involving children, adolescents and adults.

Lectures, workshops, seminars, discussions, guided independent study and tutorials offer an evidence-based and flexible basis for professional development. Physics is an inherently international activity carried out by scientists in institutions throughout the world, sometimes competing and often collaborating. This degree will give you an early introduction to this key aspect of physics. It offers you the chance to combine in-depth training as a physicist with the experience of living and working as a researcher overseas.

During your third year overseas the programme you follow will be agreed with a tutor at Bristol and the working language will be English. You will be based at a partner university abroad, spending most of your time taking advantage of opportunities available locally. This will usually mean carrying out a full-time research project as part of a research team at the host university. This might entail nanophysics in Brazil, astrophysics in Canada or particle physics in the US.

Alternatively, you can take taught courses through Bristol's Global Opportunities programme. You will continue to study core physics via distance learning in readiness for returning to Bristol for your final year.

The course gives you the opportunity to develop a physicist's broad range of skills, including problem solving, numeracy and communication, and to supplement these with the experimental, theoretical and analytical skills needed for a career in research and industry.

You will join a friendly department with a very active, award-winning society. Our physics graduates have an excellent record of employment, a testament to the value that employers place on the transferable skills that you gain on this course.

Inspired by the Royal Academy of Engineering, this in-depth course aims to develop high-calibre engineers who can lead complex engineering projects that are vital to modern society.

After a broad, common first year, you can choose to specialise in mechanical, aerospace or civil engineering, studying technical units alongside students from these other engineering degrees.

The third year is usually a paid placement in industry, which forms an assessed part of the course and is closely monitored by the University, allowing you to start working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer. You will be given responsibilities similar to graduate entrants, with opportunities to manage your own projects. We will support you in applying for a placement.

In years four and five you can choose from a wide range of technical modules from the School of Civil, Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering and open units in other faculties. This gives you the chance to gain further technical expertise in your chosen specialisation and a broader learning experience in other subjects, such as computer science, finance, geography or languages.

A group research and design project forms a major component of your final two years. The project is conducted with one of our industrial partners and you can choose from a range of topics, such as robotics, manufacturing, renewable energy, future cities and sustainable transport.
