You will learn about the fundamental building blocks and forces of nature and how quantum physics and relativity help us understand the world around us.

Year one gives you a comprehensive grounding in physics and mathematics, and year two focuses on the principles of physics. Flexibility and choice are key features of a Bristol Physics degree. You are usually able to transfer between courses in the first two years, and a range of options in the final year means you can specialise in your chosen field or take a more general approach.

Your third year includes a major project or dissertation. Studying a combination of history of art and French offers an enriching experience with exciting intellectual challenges. It provides a valuable skill set that is ideally tailored to an increasingly globalised workplace.

French is spoken by hundreds of millions of people around the world. Alongside studying history of art, you can take a broad range of French units in language, history, literature and culture, from medieval literature to French cinema. Specialists in French will encourage you to explore the relationship between literary and visual cultures.

You will study a combination of language, art history and culture units, spending your third year abroad in a French-speaking country on a study or work placement. While abroad, you will refine your skills in your chosen language as well as your cultural understanding.

If you love the challenge of thinking through a maths question and the satisfaction of having solved a difficult problem, but also want to think about a broad range of intellectual questions in a rigorous way, this four-year course is for you.

Linked by the formal study of logic, the two components of the course complement each other. You will develop rigorous analysis and argument distinctive of the analytic philosophical tradition, while developing mathematical maturity to reason through subtle ideas in abstract mathematics.

Our MSci course is ideal if you want to continue in research or to stand out when applying for a PhD.

In your first year you will gain a broad understanding of the biology of normal and cancerous cells. In addition to studying the immune system, you will take pathology, microbiology and biochemistry units.

In the second year you will study the cellular and molecular basis of cancer and its therapy as well as autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, diabetes and arthritis, and human cancers caused by viruses, such as papilloma and hepatitis B. You will take molecular genetics and an optional unit, possibly biochemistry or pharmacology, from a selection offered by other schools.

All practical teaching in years one and two is supported by the eBiolabs dynamic laboratory manual.

You will progress to undertake a research project or scientific dissertation, working in a research group in our Biomedical Sciences building or in one of the surrounding hospitals. Your work may even be published in scientific literature.

The additional, fourth year includes an extended research project and advanced research skills training with an emphasis on enterprise. You will plan projects, communicate with a variety of audiences and learn to translate and commercialise research.

The School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine focuses on turning science into medicine and these courses aim to launch you into a research career with an emphasis on translational research.

This MSc covers a range of advanced topics related to wireless communications and communications-related signal processing, including associated enabling technologies. It provides an excellent opportunity to develop the skills required for careers in some of the most dynamic fields in wireless communications.

This program builds on the internationally recognised research strengths of the Communications Systems and Networks group within the Smart Internet Lab. This group conducts pioneering research in a number of key fundamental and experimental work areas, including spatial channel measurements and predictions, information theory, advanced wireless access (cellular and WLAN) and RF technologies. The group has well-equipped laboratories with state-of-the-art test and measurement equipment and first-class computational facilities.

The MSc provides in-depth training in design, analysis and management skills relevant to the theory and practice of the wireless communications industry.
