The different groups involved in microelectronics research at the University of Bristol have many collaborative links with multinational companies in the microelectronics industry. A range of taught subjects cover core topics, such as digital and analogue ASIC design, DSP and FPGA-based computing, integrated sensors and actuators, radio-frequency and mixed-signal design. Changes are made periodically to reflect important emerging disciplines, such as electronics for the Internet of things, biomedical applications and quantum photonics applications.

The programme offers you the opportunity to learn from experts in microelectronics, nanoelectronics and computer science. For philosophy you will study units covering introduction to philosophy, logic, and realism and normativity.

This course offers you an opportunity to pursue a career in accounting, with the benefit of spending one year studying abroad. It provides access to subjects accredited by professional accountancy bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). The MSc Psychology of Education is a British Psychological Society (BPS)-accredited MSc conversion programme that provides students with an excellent grounding in the psychology of education. It draws on a wide range of theories and methods from across the core areas of psychology and encourages you to consider how they apply to education and educational contexts.

Students on the programme will benefit from our longstanding tradition of high-quality research and teaching in this area and will acquire unique skills in both psychology and research methods. You will learn how research can inform theory, policy and practice, and how to conduct your own piece of empirical research to answer appropriate research questions. You will also acquire a range of transferable skills, such as communication skills, numerical reasoning, computer literacy and teamwork.

The MSc Psychology of Education is designed specifically for individuals who do not already hold a BPS-accredited degree in psychology and who are seeking to achieve Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the BPS. Individuals who are already eligible for GBC, having graduated from a BPS-accredited psychology undergraduate programme, will cover similar content to what they have studied previously, but may be interested in this programme because of its applied focus and relevance for pursuing professional training.

The knowledge and skills you will obtain are highly desired by employers and relevant to a wide range of careers in which an understanding of human behaviour or research methods is relevant. Successful students will be eligible to apply for GBC with the BPS and for further professional training accredited by the BPS.

Our MSci course is ideal if you want to continue in research or to stand out when applying for a PhD.

In your first year you will gain a broad understanding of the biology of normal and cancerous cells. In addition to studying the immune system, you will take pathology, microbiology and biochemistry units.

In the second year you will study the cellular and molecular basis of cancer and its therapy as well as autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, diabetes and arthritis, and human cancers caused by viruses, such as papilloma and hepatitis B. You will take molecular genetics and an optional unit, possibly biochemistry or pharmacology, from a selection offered by other schools.

All practical teaching in years one and two is supported by the eBiolabs dynamic laboratory manual.

You will progress to undertake a research project or scientific dissertation, working in a research group in our Biomedical Sciences building or in one of the surrounding hospitals. Your work may even be published in scientific literature.

The additional, fourth year includes an extended research project and advanced research skills training with an emphasis on enterprise. You will plan projects, communicate with a variety of audiences and learn to translate and commercialise research.

The School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine focuses on turning science into medicine and these courses aim to launch you into a research career with an emphasis on translational research.

There is growing demand for skilled graduates to work in industries such as consumer electronics, alternative energy and transport, medical engineering, and communications.

This course provides full accreditation for the qualification of Chartered Engineer.

Years one and two provide a strong grounding in mathematics, computing, analogue and digital electronics, communications, electromagnetics, power electronics and control. You will also take language classes to prepare you for your third year overseas.
