Diagnostic radiographers play a vital role in healthcare by producing patient centred imaging services for the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and disease. Our BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging delivers the knowledge and clinical experience you require to become a skilled and competent diagnostic radiographer and reflects the rapidly changing face of healthcare in the UK.

This is a full-time three year vocational degree where Radiography students will learn a wide range of subjects to enable our graduates to be safe and confident practitioners, able to deliver high quality care to patients. You will learn human anatomy, physiology and pathology, using radiographic images, along with an understanding of the equipment used to image patients. During your training you will develop excellent communication skills and learn to work in a team environment putting the needs of the patient at the centre of everything you do. In addition, you will acquire an appreciation of research methods with respect to diagnostic radiography and the importance of evidence-based practice in relation to the profession.

The degree is delivered with student spending time each year at the University campus studying and gaining practical experience at our affiliated NHS hospitals developing where students become competent in the knowledge and skills they have been learning.

On this course no prior knowledge of philosophy is assumed, although students with Religious Studies A-level may be familiar with topics such as ethics, mind, knowledge and reality. In your first year you’ll explore new dimensions to these topics and consider questions about the meaning of life. You’ll also study social and political philosophy, the central concern of which is the best way of organising society. A first-year module on the philosophy of film and literature takes you beyond the mainstream. Studying fiction and films such as Back to the Future allows you to address the assumption that anything is possible in fiction and consider to what extent that is true.

In your second year you’ll be able to delve deeper into areas such as philosophy of art and philosophy of mind. A module on virtues, vices and ethics focuses on specific virtues, such as forgiveness, hope or love, from both a secular and religious point of view and examines what it means to live a good life. 

In your final year you can pursue your own research interests through a dissertation. Recent topics have included the ethical issues of playing video games, the nature of the imagination, environmental philosophy and the obligations of the state, and a proposed solution to the paradox of the liar. You’ll also build on previous specialisms to explore in more depth philosophers such as Nietzsche or Wittgenstein, feminist or political philosophy, contemporary moral philosophy, or the philosophy of psychology.

This course gives you the broad-ranging skills to support the development of automotive products. It blends practical study in workshops and well- equipped labs (such as computer simulation, design, vehicle technology, production and manufacture) with management and business studies modules. A particular focus is on group work, which will enable you to develop your team-working skills and improve your employability. You’ll also have the unique opportunity to work with engineering students in designing, building and racing a Formula Student race car.

The BA (Hons) Fashion and Fashion Business award is intended to equip graduates with the knowledge and skills to work in fashion business. Whether your background is in Politics and International Relations, or another discipline, our MA equips you with the knowledge, skills and tools to critically analyse and tackle global society’s most pressing issues. There are a number of different pathways on offer to fit with your individual needs and professional aims. The standard route MA is offered full-time (one year) or part-time (two years). Alternatively, you may wish to take a Sandwich option (two years full-time), which combines a year of university study with a year-long work placement, or the with Advanced Research route (two years full-time), where you will complete an extended, year-long research project in addition to one year of university study.

Throughout the degree, you will begin to understand that Criminology is the study of the anatomy of a crime, specifically its causes, consequences and costs. Criminal justice, on the other hand, refers to established systems for dealing with crime, specifically detection of crime, detaining of criminals, and criminal prosecution and punishment.

If you wish to pursue career opportunities in criminal justice, you will study the different components of criminal justice, and if you're interested in pursuing a career as a criminologist, you will study the behaviour patterns, backgrounds, and sociological trends of criminals.While both fields are different, criminologists and criminal justice professionals work together in the criminal justice system to thwart crime.

Discover the vital role economics plays in shaping policy in companies, institutions and governments. This course will give you solid knowledge of economics and a rigorous understanding of the quantitative methods economists use in their analyses. It will also enable you to apply economic principles to a wide variety of contemporary problems and use your quantitative skills in numerous professional situations when you graduate. You can also study a language with this course. You can be awarded the degree ‘with language’ in the title if you choose to study a foreign language in all years of study.

All three of our model design courses share the same First Year, giving you an excellent introduction to model making, prop making, sculpture and special effects. Building on this foundation, you’ll focus on developing your artistic and technical skills to produce models, animatronics and other effects. You’ll also gain hands on experience of the specialist equipment used to produce rain, fire, smoke, wind and snow, and learn about the safe use of pyrotechnics.

In Second Year, you will acquire an understanding of special effects design and receive a thorough grounding in the practical aspects of this. You will be able to combine your artistic and technical skills to produce animatronics, action props, models and special effects.

In your Final Year, you’ll work on major projects and create a professional portfolio to impress employers. Throughout your studies you’ll use a mix of traditional techniques and modern technology. Motorsport’s not just exciting entertainment, but also an important part of automotive development. It challenges engineers to be innovative in using the latest technologies to design high-performance vehicles. You’ll find most modules on this course are common with those on our general automotive engineering degree. However, you’ll also learn about aerodynamics of high- speed vehicles and high-performance engine design, testing and mapping. In your MEng year, you’ll deepen your understanding of the industry. One of the big highlights is to get involved in designing, building and racing a car at the IMechE Formula Student events. This course is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and is the first step towards chartered engineer status.

• This MEng in Automotive Engineering with Motorsport gives you the opportunity to design, build and race a single-seater race car in the UK Formula Student Competition and can get involved from your first year onwards, if you wish

The University of Hertfordshire’s LLM International Commercial Law degree is the ideal course to equip you for a specialist career in the area of international commerce. The combination of compulsory and optional modules will ensure that you have a solid grounding on which you can build with your chosen specialisms.

You will study two compulsory modules: International Commercial Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution. International Commercial Law will cover such topics as the choice of law/jurisdiction clauses, different types of international contracts and their respective implications for the parties involved, the international conventions applicable to international commerce, the role of documentation, and finance and insurance.

The Alternative Dispute Resolution module will examine commercial arbitration and investment-treaty arbitration and the issues involved, mediation as a means of dispute resolution, and the skills and attributes required of a mediator.

Both modules are assessed by way of written coursework. The Alternative Dispute Resolution module also includes a practical assessment, which might take the form of an oral presentation to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of international arbitration, along with the necessary practical skills.
