You'll take part in a group project in year two which prepares you for designing and creating the computer systems of the future. Many projects are in collaboration with industry. Our BSc Industrial Economics will enable you to uncover the answers to these questions and more, giving you an understanding of the complex relationships between economics and global business practices. You’ll examine a company, take an in-depth look at its structure, markets, competitors and external economic environment.

You can follow your individual interests and career aspirations by selecting from optional modules alongside your core subjects. You could also really enhance your CV by opting for a work placement year at a company where you can be at the front line of business.

The fourth year includes masters-level modules. You have full choice on what you'll study. You could focus on a programming project, look at advanced algorithms or be a STEM ambassador in schools.

You'll learn about how we motivate employees, how we train them, how we recruit, how we design jobs, how we assess performance, how we manage well-being, how we lead, how we manage organisational change, and more. We also feature a module on managing diversity in the workplace. At Nottingham, we make sure the course has a practical focus and aim to improve your skills as a practitioner. That's why you'll also learn about consultancy as part of your studies.

You'll also get a good grasp on research methods applicable to the workplace, something that is particularly valuable to future employers. You'll be taught by research-active experts in the field, some of whom completed their own MScs at Nottingham.

Cyberphysical systems integrate computation with physical objects and processes. Examples of cyberphysical systems are:

• 'Smart' devices in the home such as a smart meter or fridge
• Voice assistant devices
• Driverless vehicles
• Medical monitoring equipment
• Wearable devices
• Robotic assistants

Our course is designed for students with a background in computer science or a related field with analytical skills. You'll learn the principles of integrated system design and computational and cyberphysical systems methods and tools. Core modules will broaden your knowledge in key topics such as artificial intelligence, robotics and cybersecurity.

During the summer period, you will undertake an individual research project. This could be software-based or research-based. Collaboration with business, industry, and other outside bodies is encouraged.
