Overview

Study our full-time 2 year audiology master’s with clinical placement and combine scientific learning with practical training. Our 3 year course offers a part-time clinical placement over 2 years. Gain the skills to work in clinical audiology. UK applicants who complete the course are eligible to register with The Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP) and to work in the NHS as an audiologist. Our graduates from this degree have become leaders in the field both in the UK and abroad.

If you’re new to audiology or are a qualified health professional who wants to take their career further, this master’s degree offers a great way to develop your skills. Through a mixture of theory and practical work – including clinical placements in the UK, Ireland and Jersey – you'll gain insight and expertise to specialise in the field of audiology.  
 
All placement centres are approved and accredited by the University of Southampton and include a mixture of NHS and private clinics.   

When you graduate, you'll be eligible to apply for our stand-alone Hearing Aid Aptitude Test as a route towards registering as a Hearing Aid Dispenser. EU and international applicants should refer to the HCPC guidance for international applicants.

This BSc Occupational Therapy degree will give you the knowledge and skills to treat people with psychological, physical or social disabilities. You’ll learn how to work effectively with patients, their families and carers, as well as with other healthcare professionals.

You’ll develop a strong professional identity as an occupational therapist and gain a clear understanding of how the role contributes to multi-disciplinary teams.

On this MPhys degree you’ll explore photonics – the science of light – while deepening your knowledge in the core areas of physics. An unrivalled range of specialist modules will allow you to fine-tune skills that are in high demand in this well-paid, rapidly expanding industry.

We’re home to the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) - the largest photonics research institute in the UK.

We’re also the only UK university to offer an undergraduate physics degree with photonics and you’ll join a research community with a history of revolutionary discoveries. These include the optical fibres and amplifiers that make the internet possible.

The Amputation and Prosthetic Rehabilitation MSc is a flexible programme of higher-level study suitable for both clinicians and non-clinicians who would like to work in this field. Learn about a patient’s journey from pre-amputation to prosthetic rehabilitation, exploring the physical and psychological aspects of patient care.

This course is subject to revalidation.

This course is a great way to improve your specialist knowledge if you already work, or would like to work, in this area. It’s ideal for multidisciplinary healthcare professionals from backgrounds such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, prosthetics and orthotics, engineering, nursing and other related professions.

You’ll explore contemporary issues related to limb loss, and develop expertise in research, clinical practice and commerce. This will involve studying a wide range of current issues facing the delivery of amputation and prosthetic rehabilitation in a variety of different settings, including:

  • Adult and children’s services within the NHS and other healthcare organisations
  • Global issues related to limb loss and access to prosthetic service
  • Prosthetic componentry and the prosthetic industry
  • Charity settings across different sectors

The course is delivered by healthcare rehabilitation experts whose amputation and prosthetics research is helping to develop the field. It also looks at the perspectives of patients, families, carers and clinicians taking a person-centred approach.

Our Amputee Rehabilitation and Prosthetic Use module is endorsed by the British Association of Chartered Physiotherapist in Amputee Rehabilitation (BACPAR).
