This programme reflects the Law School's own international standing, and the diversity of jurisdictions in which you can pursue your legal career as a graduate of English law.

This 4-year programme covers the qualifying law degree subjects in years 1 and 2. You'll spend your third year studying at one of our carefully selected partner institutions overseas. Civil engineering is essential to the development of our society, from planning to construction. Our 4-year, integrated master's course goes beyond the 3-year degree, and lets you specialise in an area of your choosing. You'll develop the design, management and teamwork skills that employers look for. Major engineering companies often get involved in our group design projects.

This MEng Civil Engineering course follows the BEng Civil Engineering degree for the first 3 years. In the fourth year, you can choose to focus on specialist topics, including:

The group project in year 4 lets you apply your conceptual engineering and scientific knowledge to an engineering design problem. On this master's degree you'll gain a detailed overview of how to design a total space system. You’ll learn how the various component subsystems function and integrate with one another, and gain advanced knowledge of space systems engineering. 

Drawing on content from the professional courses we run for the European Space Agency and spacecraft industry, this master's course is ideal for both graduates and those who already have some professional experience of astronautics or aerospace engineering.

The degree has a strong practical focus. You’ll take part in individual and group design projects as well as conducting your own critical research project, allowing you to develop your expertise in spacecraft engineering. 

You’ll be able to put theory into practice with the help of world-class facilities such as our spacecraft propulsion laboratory, autonomous systems test bed and shaker table.

You'll learn how marine plants and animals interact with their environment and respond to change. The course will give you knowledge about the biology of the marine environment, and how it relates to physical and chemical oceanography. Theory, field trips and lab work will prepare you for a career in research, wildlife management or government agencies.

This degree examines the biology of marine organisms within their environments, from intertidal coasts to deep sea and hydrothermal vent systems.

You'll become part of one of the largest marine science communities in Europe through the world-leading research institution, the National Oceanography Centre Southampton (NOCS). Our research vessels are only a 10-minute walk from the lecture theatres. Boat-based fieldwork is an important part of the programme.

With this course, you can:

• Gain detailed knowledge of marine biota and the physics, chemistry and sedimentology that influence them
• Cover a broad variety of topics, from hydrothermal vents to coastal lagoons
• Take part in a full fieldwork programme including residential trips in the first 2 years

This MPhys Physics with Mathematics course provides a unique opportunity to study physics with a 6-month, paid industry placement in your fourth year. You can immediately apply your knowledge to a commercial development project through an internship, while gaining experience that will make you stand out to employers.

This flagship master's course is offered to all students on our Master of Physics degree at the end of year 2.

We regularly place students with companies such as global radiation detection company Symetrica, fibre laser specialists NKT Photonics, and electronics and engineering consultancy Roke Manor Research Ltd.

Unlike the sandwich-year placements offered by many other universities, this industrial placement won’t add an extra year to your studies.
