You’ll learn how to identify opportunities for improvement within an educational institution, making decisions based on research and with a focus on outcomes.  

Leaders in education are expected to introduce continuous change within their organisation, you’ll understand how this impacts an academic institution or school and the people within it. To give you versatility in the profession, we look at a variety of learning environments within the public and private sector, as well as how educational leadership theories can be used by both teachers and leaders in schools, and educational practitioners outside of schools.   During this MSc educational leadership course, you’ll learn how to:

• Examine different teaching and learning methods
• Conduct reliable education research and reflect upon emerging research

Combine civil engineering with architecture, and discover their importance for developing sustainable, urban areas. If you're following a career in structural engineering design, this course is for you. You'll focus your studies on structures, materials and construction processes. You’ll learn key design and manufacturing skills and gain a solid understanding of both subjects.

The first 2 years of this MEng Civil Engineering and Architecture degree are the same as our other civil engineering courses. You'll cover mechanics, materials, thermofluids and construction management. In the third year you’ll specialise in civil engineering with a focus on urban design.

You'll put architectural principles into practice through design projects. These are taught by structural engineers and architects, and include:

• An architectural group project, to design a complex building in an urban area
• An individual architectural engineering project of your choice
• Our Design Show blog has examples of our students’ design work.

You'll have access to our extensive facilities, including:

As part of this course you can:

With our MSci degree in biology and marine biology, you’ll develop knowledge about the living world from the molecular level to entire ecosystems across both terrestrial and marine biology. You'll learn through through lectures, laboratory work, and by doing fieldwork in the UK and abroad. You’ll be well equipped for careers involving research, conservation, inshore fisheries and habitat management.

Our master's degree in biology and marine biology will give you knowledge and understanding of living organisms at several levels - from the molecular, through cells and whole organisms, to ecosystems. It will also give you an understanding of biology from an evolutionary perspective.

Through the world-leading research institution, the National Oceanography Centre Southampton (NOCS), you'll become part of one of the largest marine science communities in Europe. Our research feeds directly into what you'll learn on our biology and marine biology master's degree programmes. Our research vessels are only a 10 minute walk from the lecture theatres and boat-based fieldwork is an important part of the programme.
