You will be taught by world-leading researchers in a supportive environment, where learning spaces – including breakout areas and common spaces – are all geared towards you sharing, collaborating and exploring your academic curiosity.

Pure Mathematics modules combine the work of some of the world’s greatest thinkers, while Applied Mathematics addresses real-world problems in biology, data science, climate science and finance. Many third and fourth year (fourth year for MMath only) modules offer glimpses of the latest research.

Study abroad

We encourage students to consider spending Year Three at one of 23 European partner universities in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland.

Following an in-depth foundation in biochemistry, this course broadens out to allow a focus on more specialist fields. These include biophysical chemistry, which covers biological macromolecules at the atomic level, and understanding the genome and gene regulation.

Our exceptionally wide range of options allow you to pursue areas that interest you. You will graduate with a sound understanding of the biochemical and structural basis of molecular, cellular and development processes in a variety of organisms.

You will benefit from our tutorial system for academic and pastoral support, alongside high-quality laboratory time.

Our four-year MBio gives you the opportunity to undertake an extended final year in-house research project.

This degree combines in-depth study of German language and culture with a wide range of historical subjects.

Alongside German language, you can profit from the many synergies that exist between the two departments. You can study topics relating to post-1918 German culture (the Weimar Republic, National Socialism, and German society and culture since 1945), or aspects of 18th and 19th century German culture (the Age of Enlightenment and the Age of Revolution).

Your studies in History will additionally enable to you to explore the history of the European and non-European worlds.

You will normally spend your second or third year abroad, consolidating and enhancing your learning.

Study abroad

We strongly recommend that you take a year abroad as part of your modern languages degree, if you are able to. If you are unable to take a year abroad you will move to a three-year. You will be required to complete further language reinforcement work. You will also be encouraged to spend time abroad in other ways, during vacation times.

You will usually spend your year abroad doing one of three things:

• Working as a language assistant teaching English in a primary or secondary school
• Studying full-time at a partner university in your chosen country
• On a work placement

The bioprocessing and biotechnology industries are major components of global industrialised economies with impacts in medicine, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and the food sector. Management of change requires a new calibre of technical specialist who will have business acumen and a scientific knowledge base.

This master’s course equips you with the necessary tools and expertise to become an entrepreneur, offering key business information and industrially relevant knowledge. Leading centres of expertise, including staff from Life Sciences and Warwick Business School (WBS), form a multidisciplinary teaching faculty. The course is delivered by lecturers with internationally acknowledged academic, industrial and government expertise.

History at Warwick asks you to look critically at the motivations, context and characters behind the events that define world history from the Renaissance to the present day. Our far-reaching approach allows you to explore historical topics in depth from around the globe. The department is studded with expertise spanning the British Isles, continental Europe, Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin and North America.

In your first year we'll support you as you develop a foundational understanding of the past. You'll then be ready to choose between working towards a Modern or Renaissance and Modern History degree. The Modern History degree offers a diverse, global curriculum of important historical themes and topics. The Renaissance and Modern degree gives you the chance to explore your historical interests while also spending a term in Venice. Throughout your degree you'll have the freedom to develop your own independent view on the historical themes that most excite you.

Students will be offered the opportunity at the start of their second year to apply for an optional Year Abroad. Following the application process, those students who are offered and take up a Year Abroad place transfer to the four-year History (with a Year Abroad), with the Year Abroad as the third of the four years.

Study abroad

On Renaissance and Modern students spend the autumn term of their final year studying with Warwick tutors in Venice. All students also have the opportunity to apply for an intercalated year abroad at one of our partner universities. The Student Mobility Team based in the Office for Student Opportunity offers support for these activities, and the Department's dedicated Study Abroad Co-ordinator can provide more specific information and assistance.

This course draws on areas of both computer science and mathematics. You will acquire skills in software engineering, combinatorial analysis, formal proof and algorithmic analysis.

Regular individual and group projects will consolidate what you have learned by allowing you to apply it to practical problems.

Your learning experiences throughout the course will enable you to both analyse and solve problems in an abstract sense, and realise solutions through computer software. These abilities, alongside transferable skills in communication, planning, and self-organisation are highly valued by employers.

Study abroad

You can spend a year at one of our partner institutions overseas.

We have an established exchange programme with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, which provides opportunities for our students to experience teaching and learning at another world-leading institution.

In addition to benefitting from a rich cultural experience, students returning from studying overseas exhibit an international profile that is attractive to potential employers.

By studying linguistics together with Japanese, you will explore the fascinating human capacity for language, while also building your fluency in Japanese. As a linguist, you will learn about the structure and function of language, and about relationships between language and society.

You will also study and practice written and oral communication in Japanese, and learn broadly about communicating across languages and cultures. Your skills in linguistic analysis will support your language learning, and your knowledge of Japanese will complement your work as a linguist. This course opens many career opportunities that require the knowledge and skills of both a modern language and a deep understanding of language, culture and communication.

(75% linguistics, 25% Japanese).

Study abroad

If you wish to spend a year abroad (which we thoroughly recommend), this will take place in your third year, meaning that you will complete your degree in four years instead of three. Critically analysing education in a fast-changing globalised world, the BA (Hons) Education Studies will introduce you to creative and forward-thinking approaches to teaching and learning.

It will also enable you to develop your understanding of contemporary educational policy at both global and local levels, while exploring the background to the history and development of education.

You will gain hands-on experience through a work-based placement, with tailored career advice throughout the course. With optional modules to choose across a range of different related disciplines, from philosophy to sociology, economics to psychology, you will gain a broad set of skills to help you progress to where you want to be.

Cyber security is not simply about protecting the internet. As our world becomes ever more dependent upon digital systems, our vehicles, infrastructure, industrial controls, finances, and medical devices all exist within the cyber domain.

By studying Cyber Security Engineering at Warwick, you will deepen your knowledge of this multifaceted cyberspace. You will understand the nature of this evolving cyber environment, and how to protect and enhance the human experience within it.

This MSc focuses on the technical aspects of cyber security and how these may be implemented in a multi-disciplinary way. The practical applications of topics are emphasised, as well as developing your abstract analytical skills. You will also gain unparalleled exposure to industry.

This programme will enable you to acquire knowledge and understanding of the central normative conceptions, the debates they have generated, and their implications of different approaches for public policy, institutional design and the law.
