Qualified electrical engineers are desperately needed by the power industry. There is also a severe shortage of power engineering expertise in other sectors, such as government bodies and finance organisations, where a detailed knowledge of energy supply and demand is increasingly important. This shortage comes as societies develop and adapt to pressing environmental and economic constraints, dwindling reserves of fossil fuels, and the emergence of new energy technologies.

This course will give you the knowledge and skills required for a career in electrical power engineering and is an opportunity to update your knowledge with the latest developments in renewable energy and smart grids.

You will be taught by academics who are shaping the field internationally within both Psychology and Linguistics, and those working at the intersection of both subjects.

You will gain a critical awareness of psychological research and theory; the ability to analyze the structure of language and patterns of the language; plus communication, research, presentation and collaboration skills.

Our students have previously undertaken study abroad opportunities in Brazil, China, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, South Korea, Spain and the USA. Typically, when students choose to study abroad, they apply in their second year for the third year of study at a partner institution. Students then return to Warwick for their final year.

By studying linguistics together with French, you will explore the fascinating human capacity for language, while also building your fluency in French. As a linguist, you will learn about the structure and function of language, and about relationships between language and society.

You will also study and practice written and oral communication in French, and learn broadly about communicating across languages and cultures. Your skills in linguistic analysis will support your language learning, and your knowledge of French will complement your work as a linguist. This course opens many career opportunities that require the knowledge and skills of both a modern language and a deep understanding of language, culture and communication.

(75% linguistics, 25% French).

Study abroad

If you wish to spend a year abroad (which we thoroughly recommend), this will take place in your third year, meaning that you will complete your degree in four years instead of three. All students have the opportunity to apply for an intercalated year abroad at one of our partner universities. The MA in World Literature at Warwick draws on our department’s renowned expertise in theoretically-driven world-literary and postcolonial studies to offer a year-long course that is unique in the UK.

Considering you as a future scholar and global citizen, this MA will immerse you in the study of writing and culture from across the globe. You will take a core module in the methodology and theory of world literature, choose from a range of modules that address issues in modern and contemporary world literature, and write a dissertation on an (approved) topic of your choice with a specialised supervisor.

Our MA is designed to prepare students for specialised postgraduate research in the fields of Art History and Visual Studies. You will have the option of spending the autumn term in Venice or can study for the full year on the Warwick campus.

The course enables you to develop your research skills by studying different periods and media in the history of art, and by taking an active part in research, exploring some of the broader issues in Art History today such as cross-cultural interaction and the arts, the spatial contexts of art, architecture and urbanism, and the arts within a global society.

Public health spans a broad range of issues and subject areas and is suitable if you are looking to explore complex health challenges on a global scale.

Our course has a choice of pathways to enable you to pursue the area of public health you find most relevant and interesting. Pathways include: Global Health, Health Services and an academic route centred on health economics, epidemiology and research methods.

At the end of the Master’s, you will have the opportunity to complete either a dissertation or professional project on a topic of your choice. Previous projects have focused on a broad array of topics, including childhood obesity, flu vaccination uptake within care home staff and models of primary care for homeless patients.

As an Engineering student at Warwick, you will develop an in-depth understanding of the classical principles of Engineering by following a general engineering programme for the first four terms. You can then choose to specialise in Biomedical Systems Engineering, learning to apply systems methodology and concepts from other Engineering disciplines to the modelling, analysis of, and interventions for, biomedical problems.

The degree reflects our strengths and industry collaborations in biomedical systems modelling, pharmacology, and healthcare technology, explored from a systems perspective.

By choosing the MEng degree you can explore specialist areas of Biomedical Systems Engineering through fourth-year core and optional module choices and a group project.

Study abroad

You may choose to take an intercalated year in industry, research or study abroad between years two and three (BEng and MEng), or between years three and four (MEng only). If you choose to take an intercalated year, this will be reflected in your degree title, and add a year to your degree programme.

As an MEng student you may choose to take your third year as an exchange year at a partner university abroad, subject to academic requirements and approval of study programme.

On this degree you will split your time equally between Modern Languages and Economics.

Studying Modern Languages will enable you to gain expertise in two languages. Choose one language from: French, German, Italian or Spanish. Choose the second language from Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian or Spanish.

As well as studying the foundations of economics, you will develop your linguistic and intercultural skills. You will normally spend your second or third year abroad, consolidating and enhancing your learning.

Study abroad

We strongly recommend that you take a year abroad as part of your modern languages degree, if you are able to. If you are unable to take a year abroad you may move to a three-year degree. In such cases, you will be required to complete further language reinforcement work. You will also be encouraged to spend time abroad in other ways, during vacation times.

You will usually spend your year abroad doing one of three things:

• Working as a language assistant teaching English in a primary or secondary school
• Studying full-time at a partner university in your chosen country
• On a work placement

The year abroad options are flexible.
