The fundamentals of polymer synthesis and properties will be introduced, but then special focus is placed on modern instrumentation and analytical methods used for polymer and materials characterisation.

The bioprocessing and biotechnology industries are major components of global industrialised economies with impacts in medicine, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and the food sector. Management of change requires a new calibre of technical specialist who will have business acumen and a scientific knowledge base.

This master’s course equips you with the necessary tools and expertise to become an entrepreneur, offering key business information and industrially relevant knowledge. Leading centres of expertise, including staff from Life Sciences and Warwick Business School (WBS), form a multidisciplinary teaching faculty. The course is delivered by lecturers with internationally acknowledged academic, industrial and government expertise.

Why do people think, behave, and understand themselves in certain ways? Why does this vary between individuals and across cultures? How might a more complete understanding of human behavior help to achieve a more sustainable future for all? A BASc in Psychology and GSD challenges you to ask these questions across both sides of your degree program.

You will study biological, developmental, and social aspects of human psychology with Warwick's Psychology Department. Meanwhile, you will balance your studies with the GSD Department, by delving into the Big Questions of today, including food and water security, gender equality, and climate change. Throughout, you will be researching the relationship between individual behavior and the global challenges we all face.

By studying GSD, you’ll take a transdisciplinary approach and confront issues from a diverse array of perspectives. We encourage you to take the opportunity to study abroad during your course at Warwick.

• Enjoy the freedom to take chances with your module choices.
• Push yourself outside of your comfort zone with your learning.
• You may have the opportunity to learn a new language and immerse yourself in a new learning context.
• You may choose to apply for an intercalated year spent either studying abroad or on a work placement (subject to you meeting departmental academic requirements). This will mean extending your course to four years.

If you want to extend your learning and broaden your perspective by studying abroad for a year, Warwick has partnerships with universities across the world. You will spend your first and second years at Warwick, studying abroad in your third year. You will then return to Warwick for your final year.

Why is wealth distributed unequally throughout the world? How has the movement of people, resources, capital, and ideas shaped the global challenges of today’s world? What role did the colonial empires play in this? To study History and GSD is to ask these questions.

You will investigate and interpret the past, focusing your interests on Early Modern (between 1500 and 1750) and Modern history (1750 onwards). Meanwhile, you will apply the skills and content of your historical analysis to the present-day challenges of climate change, social justice, and food security.

This transdisciplinary approach encourages you to consider issues from a diverse array of perspectives, to think creatively and to embrace new opinions from your peers.

By studying linguistics together with Russian, you will explore the fascinating human capacity for language, while also building your fluency in Russian. As a linguist, you will learn about the structure and function of language, and about relationships between language and society.

You will also study and practice written and oral communication in Russian, and learn broadly about communicating across languages and cultures. Your skills in linguistic analysis will support your language learning, and your knowledge of Russian will complement your work as a linguist. This course opens many career opportunities that require the knowledge and skills of both a modern language and a deep understanding of language, culture and communication.

(75% linguistics, 25% Russian).

Study abroad

If you wish to spend a year abroad (which we thoroughly recommend), this will take place in your third year, meaning that you will complete your degree in four years instead of three. All students have the opportunity to apply for an intercalated year abroad at one of our partner universities. The Student Mobility Team offers support for these activities, and the Department's dedicated Study Abroad Co-ordinator can provide more specific information and assistance.

This exciting new course is built on the strength of existing research connections between the four departments that will contribute to it: the departments of Economics, Psychology, and Philosophy, and Warwick Business School (specifically the Behavioural Science Group).

The current attention that this interdisciplinary field of research, particularly the area of Behavioural Science and Behavioural Economics, receives across academia, government and the private sector also makes this course an excellent preparation for a wide range of careers within local government, public health, media, charities and NGOs, marketing and finance.

You will have a choice of interesting potential specialisms and pathways through your course so that you can explore the issues that interest you the most, to graduate with either a BA or a BSc.

Students on all pathways take a course-specific co-taught core capstone module in the final year, which is designed to set the disciplines in interdisciplinary dialogue with each other.

Study abroad

You have the opportunity to apply for an intercalated study abroad year at one of our many partner institutions, extending your degree to four years.

As well as offering an opportunity to experience an alternative university system, studying abroad can also provide the chance to improve language skills and to gain an understanding of a country that can only be gained by living and working in it.

Germany has always been at the heart of the European intellectual tradition and is now the driving force of its economy and the EU.

Our modules reflect the range and diversity of Germany’s culture, history and society. Intensive language work opens up the richness of German language and cultural life. This means you will graduate as a highly qualified linguist with advanced intercultural skills, and a deep understanding of key issues and developments in Germany’s past and present.

Your second or third year is normally spent abroad, either as a language assistant, or working or studying at one of our partner universities (at present including Berlin, Munich, Cologne and Dresden).

Study abroad

We strongly recommend that you take a year abroad as part of your modern languages degree, if you are able to. If you are unable to take a year abroad you will move to a three-year. You will be required to complete further language reinforcement work. You will also be encouraged to spend time abroad in other ways, during vacation times.

You will usually spend your year abroad doing one of three things:

• Working as a language assistant teaching English in a primary or secondary school
• Studying full-time at a partner university in your chosen country
• On a work placement

Our Psychology degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society, with an emphasis on practical work. You will cover a broad range of topics that reflect our research strengths but allow you the choice to draw in relevant optional modules from across the University, for example in business, biology, economics, sociology, philosophy or a language.

We are widely recognized as one of the UK’s top research departments, and work closely with the NHS, the police and international bodies such as the United Nations. You will be taught by acclaimed academics whose enthusiasm for the subject is infectious and you will also have the opportunity to conduct a research project on an area of particular interest each year. Looking ahead, you will have access to a departmental careers consultant, who helps to organize events and practical sessions, and who can provide one-to-one guidance to help you decide what you want to do after graduation.

We give you the opportunity to apply for an intercalated year between your second and final year at Warwick. This will either be abroad at a partner institution or maybe a work placement the student has sourced.

Studying abroad provides you with a first-hand opportunity to explore how culture influences psychological processes and develop a range of valuable skills that give you a competitive advantage in the graduate market.

Our Department is part of the University’s large global network of exchange partners, with long-standing agreements with prestigious universities around the world. A particularly popular Warwick option is with Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, acknowledged as one of the world’s top universities.

Our students have previously undertaken study abroad opportunities in Brazil, China, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, South Korea, Spain and the USA. Typically, when students choose to study abroad, they apply in their second year for a third year of study at a partner institution. Students then return to Warwick for their final year.

If you are a graduate looking to develop a career in international business, this course will give you the skills and knowledge needed to do business in a global context. You will develop an appreciation of the special requirements for successfully conducting business across national boundaries along with knowledge of relevant theories and their practical application to business cases.

There is a choice of Dissertation or Business in Practice route. If you are considering further academic study (PhD) and you would like the opportunity to research a topic relating to international business, the dissertation enables you to test and apply the techniques and theories you have gained.

If you have a talent for mathematics and a passion for technology, this exciting, accredited course will enable you to acquire technical skills in software engineering, algorithm analysis and system design, as well as experience of project management, research and scientific methods.

As one of the most established courses in the UK, our focus is on the principles and underpinnings of computer science, an understanding of which will give you the ability to adapt to change and new developments throughout your career.

In short, while we teach using many of the latest technologies, our emphasis on fundamentals will prepare you to engage with any technology. You will work closely with industry leaders, enabling you to develop industrially relevant subject knowledge and transferable skills, such as teamwork, communication and planning. In your third year, you will undertake an individual project, where you will apply your knowledge to an area of your choice under the supervision of world-leading academics.

The course is taught from first principles, which means you do not need prior knowledge of computer science or programming before you arrive. Our only requirements are that you have a strong background in mathematics and the desire to succeed, we will support you through our commitment to teaching excellence and a stimulating academic community.

You may choose to spend a year in industry, research, or study abroad between Years Two and Three of your degree. If you choose to study abroad or take a year in industry, this will be reflected in your degree title.

You can apply to spend a year studying at one of our partner institutions overseas between Years Two and Three of your degree.

We have an established exchange programme with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, which provides opportunities for our students to experience teaching and learning at another world leading institution.
