Within the framework of our traditional focus on film history, theory and criticism, we offer innovative teaching, including practice-led learning and assessment, as well as conventional essay writing.

Warwick's Language, Culture and Communication degree is a globally unique interdisciplinary program that prepares students to forge careers in the international marketplace. The degree combines elements of linguistics, intercultural communication, social psychology and public relations.

You will develop a unique combination of intellectual, analytical, research and communication skills, and apply them in a range of authentic situations. You will also develop your expertise in communicating effectively in different contexts, cultures and languages, and acquire first-hand experience of living abroad and working in multicultural contexts.

The MSc in Polymer Science is designed to not only introduce you into polymer synthesis and characterisation, but also demonstrate that macro-scale properties span into the nano- and meso- scale.

On this MSc course, you will have flexibility to choose from elective modules including business related modules from the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG). These modules will improve your knowledge in business whilst becoming an expert in polymer science. The course is ideal if you are looking for a career, not only in a manufacturing company working in the area of plastics, advanced functional materials, nano-materials, but also a PhD level study in this growing and exciting area of science.

By studying linguistics together with German, you will explore the fascinating human capacity for language, while also building your fluency in German. As a linguist, you will learn about the structure and function of language, and about relationships between language and society.

You will also study and practice written and oral communication in German, and learn broadly about communicating across languages and cultures. Your skills in linguistic analysis will support your language learning, and your knowledge of German will complement your work as a linguist. This course invites you to engage with the growing importance of culture, and of policymaking in the field of culture, in a range of contexts worldwide. You will engage with the practical realities of cultural and managerial practice and critically reflect on the real world examples you encounter. You will examine what culture is and how it can be and is used by national, international, and local governments to benefit states and support and regulate the arts, as well as to express power and control.

Investigating current issues, themes and developments such as cultural diplomacy and cultural democracy will expand your knowledge but also improve your ability to research. Your practical skills and theoretical knowledge in the realm of culture, policy, and management will enhance your CV, and you will be able to apply them in a multitude of workplace contexts in the cultural sector, in government, or as a freelancer. On completion, you will be ready for the world of work, research, or higher study.

Our Visual and Material Culture of Ancient Rome MA courses provide a thorough preparation in research techniques if you are considering further research in the fields of art, numismatics or epigraphy, or are working on an historical topic that involves the consideration of material evidence. It will also provide a detailed understanding of ancient visual and material culture to prepare you if you are aiming to enter a career in museums and curatorial work, or in education.

For the Visual and Material Culture of Ancient Rome MA, one module is taught by the British School, Rome, focusing on the history and material culture of Ancient Rome. Please note admission is subject to the discretion of the British Schools and cannot be guaranteed by Warwick.

Public health spans a broad range of issues and subject areas and is suitable if you are looking to explore complex health challenges on a global scale.

Our course has a choice of pathways to enable you to pursue the area of public health you find most relevant and interesting. Pathways include: Global Health, Health Services and an academic route centred on health economics, epidemiology and research methods.

At the end of the Master’s, you will have the opportunity to complete either a dissertation or professional project on a topic of your choice. Previous projects have focused on a broad array of topics, including childhood obesity, flu vaccination uptake within care home staff and models of primary care for homeless patients.

Study abroad

You may choose to take an intercalated year in industry, research or study abroad between years two and three (BEng and MEng), or between years three and four (MEng only). If you choose to take an intercalated year, this will be reflected in your degree title, and add a year to your degree programme.

As an MEng student you may choose to take your third year as an exchange year at a partner university abroad, subject to academic requirements and approval of study programme.

The MSc in Biomedical Engineering delivers advanced modules informed by the active research expertise and industrial links of our academic staff.

The course prepares students for careers in advanced biomedical engineering. This includes biomedical engineering research institutions, medical device manufacturing, agencies for health technology assessment and medical device regulatory affairs, and clearly hospitals, where biomedical engineers oversee medical device clinical trials, purchasing and maintenance as responsible for clinical engineering services.

The Warwick Biomedical Engineering MSc spans the whole School of Engineering incorporating predictive modelling, medical device design, health technology assessment, signal processing, electronics, communication, software, hardware, systems thinking and machine intelligence.

Warwick has a unique systems approach to research and teaching and so modules are developed across disciplines in parallel to our research. This approach culminates in a group design project in which you will design a medical device. This, in the past two years included, a defibrillator, a pulmonary ventilator, an ECGph and wearable devices for SpO2 monitoring. Beyond that, you will be assigned an in-depth individual project which will allow you to work closely with an academic on state-of-the art biomedical engineering research and innovation, often linked with industry.

This challenging degree crosses subject boundaries, combining economics and political analysis. Policy-making is influenced by economics and many of the policies that we see today around the world are based on economic analysis.

By considering both disciplines, you will gain a broad perspective on how governments develop policy and the impact of this on consumers, firms and political structures. The degree is very current, looking at the key issues of the day and encourages debate and discussion around them.

You can maintain a breadth of study while focusing on areas that interest you, particularly during your final year. You can choose to major in one area and then you will have the flexibility to select up to six optional modules alongside a core module in Making of Economic Policy.
