This programme analyses European politics explicitly in the context of both International Relations (IR) and International Political Economy (IPE). It is designed for students keen to understand past and present international relations of Europe, and the EU, amidst times of crisis and in a constantly changing world.

The combination of IR, IPE and the EU makes this programme distinct from many others. The economic crisis in Europe, Brexit and the COVID-19 pandemic provide an opportunity to explore how the EU is shaped internally and can respond externally to growing political, economic and societal challenges. This course examines the EU, its significance in and for the world system, its relationships with key developed and emerging countries and regions, and the various ways in which it engages with the international milieu on issues of global significance.

Philosophy of Mind and Philosophy of Psychology are key strengths of the Philosophy Department. It supports strong teaching and research links with the Psychology Department. Both are widely recognized for the high quality of their research, meaning you will be inspired by learning from academics at the cutting edge of their fields.

As a philosophical psychologist you will learn to understand, critically analyze and construct complex theoretical positions, integrating conceptual arguments and empirical research. We offer an unusually broad range of modules in both Philosophy and Psychology as well as the freedom to choose your own path through the subjects.

Our first year is designed to help you develop the skills and confidence to succeed on your selected path, using a variety of methods of teaching and assessment in order to foster your development.

You may choose to apply for an intercalated year, spent either studying abroad or on a work placement. This extends the duration of your degree to four years, with your third year spent abroad or on placement, and will be reflected in your degree qualification (i.e. BA Philosophy with Psychology with Intercalated Year).

This joint degree aims to develop your understanding of technical and doctrinal aspects of the law, sociological theory and research, social problems, institutions and practices.

You will also gain a critical awareness of the role that law can play in contemporary societies and develop both contextual and professional perspectives on the law. This will help you position legal institutions, ideas and processes as an important part of society.

Within the subject of sociology, you will explore key phenomena and problems in contemporary society, which may include crime and justice, gender and sexualities, media, race and ethnicities, and global economies.

The demand for mathematical statisticians has expanded so rapidly in recent years that both within and outside the academic world there is a severe shortage of well-qualified people. These degrees enable you to specialise in both pure mathematics and statistics. They offer flexibility and a wide choice of options in Computing, Operational Research and all the other topics available to Mathematics students.

The BSc and MMathStat are the same for the first two years of study, making it easy to reconsider your preference in the second year. Differences become apparent in the final years, with the MMathStat degree offering a supervised research project and the possibility to specialise in areas such as advanced statistics, biostatistics, computational statistics, actuarial and financial mathematics, and probability.

Study abroad

This exciting new course is built on the strength of existing research connections between the four departments that will contribute to it: the departments of Economics, Psychology, and Philosophy, and Warwick Business School (specifically the Behavioural Science Group).

The current attention that this interdisciplinary field of research, particularly the area of Behavioural Science and Behavioural Economics, receives across academia, government and the private sector also makes this course an excellent preparation for a wide range of careers within local government, public health, media, charities and NGOs, marketing and finance.

You will have a choice of interesting potential specialisms and pathways through your course so that you can explore the issues that interest you the most, to graduate with either a BA or a BSc.

Students on all pathways take a course-specific co-taught core capstone module in the final year, which is designed to set the disciplines in interdisciplinary dialogue with each other.

Study abroad

You have the opportunity to apply for an intercalated study abroad year at one of our many partner institutions, extending your degree to four years.

As well as offering an opportunity to experience an alternative university system, studying abroad can also provide the chance to improve language skills and to gain an understanding of a country that can only be gained by living and working in it.

By studying linguistics together with Russian, you will explore the fascinating human capacity for language, while also building your fluency in Russian. As a linguist, you will learn about the structure and function of language, and about relationships between language and society.

You will also study and practice written and oral communication in Russian, and learn broadly about communicating across languages and cultures. Your skills in linguistic analysis will support your language learning, and your knowledge of Russian will complement your work as a linguist. This course opens many career opportunities that require the knowledge and skills of both a modern language and a deep understanding of language, culture and communication.

(75% linguistics, 25% Russian).

Study abroad

If you wish to spend a year abroad (which we thoroughly recommend), this will take place in your third year, meaning that you will complete your degree in four years instead of three. In your second and third years you will build your theoretical and historical knowledge of literature whilst also choosing from one of the widest and most innovative range of modules anywhere in the country.

Study abroad

As a student on our English degrees, you will have the opportunity to spend your third year at one of our partner institutions in the USA, Europe, China, Australia or Japan.

You will then return to Warwick to complete your fourth and final year of your degree. You will be able to apply to transfer to the four-year course when you are in your second year at Warwick, subject to availability of places from the University's International Office.

Our MSc Finance and Economics course is ideal for you if you already have a strong grounding in economics, are highly numerate, and want to learn to apply your knowledge to finance.

You will explore the most advanced tools in finance, and use your economics background as a springboard to increase your career options. You will be considering jobs in the City or in the capital markets of your own country, in areas such as asset management, corporate finance, trading, financial regulation, and economic and financial consulting and central banking.

As the anticipation of jobs being challenged by Artificial Intelligence becomes a reality, we aim to share the skills and depth of understanding needed to design, develop, and supervise these new forms of financial intelligence.

If you are interested in questioning the concepts of gender and development, and giving priority to issues and debates identified within specific countries – rather than relying on predominantly western literature – then this is the programme for you. It is an international, interdisciplinary and analytical course. It does not assume that development is about the ‘third world’ modelling itself on the west, nor about women modelling themselves on men.

Our MSc Marketing and Strategy combines the two disciplines providing you with the theoretical background for making marketing decisions, both within companies and from advisory perspectives in service providers and consultancies.

Teaching illustrates the application of learned techniques to real situations. There is a choice of Dissertation or Business in Practice route. If you are considering further academic study (PhD) and you would like the opportunity to research a topic relating to marketing or strategy, the dissertation enables you to test and apply the techniques and theories you have gained.

If you would like to develop further applied skills and specialist knowledge to suit your career aspirations, you can complete your studies with one additional elective module and our applied Business in Practice module.
