Our Law degrees enable you to develop an in-depth understanding of the technical and doctrinal aspects of the law, and a critical awareness of the role law can play in contemporary society.

Warwick Law School is renowned for its high-quality research and draws on this expertise in its teaching. The School emphasises a contextual approach to, and international and comparative perspectives on, the study of law.

As well as studying legal judgements, statutes and treaties, you will gain valuable insights into the impact of economic, cultural and political change on law, and consider how law affects life beyond the courtroom and the lawyer's office.

Study abroad

This course features an integral year abroad, in which you will study approved law modules at one of our partner universities. We have links with overseas universities in many exciting parts of the world and past students have spent a year in Germany, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Singapore, the Netherlands, Hungary, Italy or Hong Kong.

English and Italian is a degree with a strong comparative approach.

There is a core Italian language module in every year of study. First-year core modules will introduce you to Italian literature and culture, English literature, and comparative literatures.

In your intermediate and final years all English and Italian optional modules are open to you, spanning topics from literature and critical theory to history, politics, philosophy and film.

In your final year, you can choose to write a dissertation on comparative Italian and English literature. This course is aimed at students who wish to unite linguistic proficiency with sophisticated literary and cultural analysis. You will normally spend your second or third year abroad, consolidating and enhancing your learning.

Study abroad

We strongly recommend that you take a year abroad as part of your modern languages degree, if they are able to. If you are unable to take a year abroad you will move to a three-year degree. You will be required to complete further language reinforcement work. You will also be encouraged to spend time abroad in other ways, during vacation times.

You will usually spend your year abroad doing one of three things:

• Working as a language assistant teaching English in a primary or secondary school
• Studying full-time at a partner university in your chosen country
• On a work placement

Our Biological Sciences course spans the entire scale of biological systems, from molecules to ecosystems. Our exceptionally wide range of options allow you to choose modules that are best suited to your interests and career ambitions.

You will be exposed to cutting-edge research in molecular, cellular and whole organism biology, while covering applications of science to major global challenges such as environmental management, food security and human health.

As an alternative to a work placement we support student mobility with the opportunity to apply for a year abroad at one of our partner universities all over the world.

This course has been designed to fulfil the specific needs of graduates interested in a management or leadership role within the complex health service sector. Healthcare organisations share many commonalities with production facilities, including the need for efficient process flow, change management, and quality standards.  

You will explore the principles, approaches, strategies and techniques to understand, model, analyse and manage complex healthcare systems. You will also learn to measure efficiency and improve effectiveness and productivity, without compromising quality or safety. Ultimately, you will gain the essential knowledge to manage the integration of people, systems, and technologies to ensure the delivery of consistent, high quality, person centric care.  

The course is suitable for graduates from a broad range of academic disciplines across technical, scientific, medical, management, and social sciences. Strong quantitative skills will be required.

The BA Sociology degree will provide you with a strong base to understand how society and people have changed over time.

With the study of social life at its heart, the scope of sociology is almost limitless. This course will introduce you to its broad subject matter, which encompasses family life, education, crime, work, war, religion, capitalism, power, love, the self, the media, to name just a few. You will also gain skills in quantitative and qualitative research methods that can be applied across a range of different subject areas.

Sociology also has an abiding concern with the main markers of social difference in modern society – class, gender, race or ethnicity, age, sexuality and (dis)ability. You will explore how these often intersect in shaping the life chances and experiences of individuals. In addition to lectures, interactive seminars will add depth to your learning.

Study abroad

You have the option of studying abroad which will add one year to your degree, as you will spend your third year abroad.

Immerse yourself in life in another country and grow as a global citizen. Explore other cultures, languages, and understand global connections and inequalities.

This course draws on areas of both computer science and mathematics. You will acquire skills in software engineering, combinatorial analysis, formal proof and algorithmic analysis.

Regular individual and group projects will consolidate what you have learned by allowing you to apply it to practical problems.

Your learning experiences throughout the course will enable you to both analyse and solve problems in an abstract sense, and realise solutions through computer software. These abilities, alongside transferable skills in communication, planning, and self-organisation are highly valued by employers.

Study abroad

You can spend a year at one of our partner institutions overseas.

We have an established exchange programme with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, which provides opportunities for our students to experience teaching and learning at another world-leading institution.

In addition to benefitting from a rich cultural experience, students returning from studying overseas exhibit an international profile that is attractive to potential employers.

The demand for mathematical statisticians has expanded so rapidly in recent years that both within and outside the academic world there is a severe shortage of well-qualified people. These degrees enable you to specialise in both pure mathematics and statistics. They offer flexibility and a wide choice of options in Computing, Operational Research and all the other topics available to Mathematics students.

The BSc and MMathStat are the same for the first two years of study, making it easy to reconsider your preference in the second year. Differences become apparent in the final years, with the MMathStat degree offering a supervised research project and the possibility to specialise in areas such as advanced statistics, biostatistics, computational statistics, actuarial and financial mathematics, and probability.

Taking a cross-discipline approach, you will consider the relationships between a functioning society, and how political and legal systems are structured and operate. The course will also develop your understanding of the philosophical origins and basis for law and politics.

You may explore concepts such as justice, freedom, morals and democracy, as well as the formulation and implementation of law and policy across the world. In addition to core modules in each discipline, there is significant flexibility as the course progresses to choose optional modules from within the three departments as well as across the University.

You will have the opportunity to apply to spend a year abroad with one of our international partners and you may also apply to take a work placement.

Study abroad

We support student mobility through year abroad programs. PPL students have the opportunity to apply for an intercalated year of study abroad at one of our prestigious partner universities.

Our MSc will appeal to you if you have a strong background in the subject and wish to gain advanced and rigorous training in modern economics, as preparation for a career as a professional economist or analyst.

You will receive advanced teaching in the core areas of macroeconomic and microeconomic theory, econometrics and research methods, and you will also be able to choose from a wide portfolio of optional modules.

An 8,000-word dissertation provides an opportunity to explore your own interests across these fields of study. You will be automatically enrolled on a pre-sessional Mathematics and Statistics programme to equip you with the relevant methodological skills you need to succeed.

By the end of the course, you will be able to read and understand research papers and articles in academic journals, build theoretical models, and initiate empirical research and evaluate its findings.

French and Theatre Studies allows you to develop an in-depth knowledge of French language and culture while also exploring theatre and performance studies through practice and theory.

You will have access to the full range of expertise on offer in both departments. In the School of Modern Languages, this includes a wide variety of cultural and historical modules. Specialisms in the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies include theatre in the African context, contemporary European theatre, applied theatre and playwriting.
