This Royal Society of Chemistry accredited degree course delivers a thorough knowledge and understanding of the world of polymer chemistry, taught by our academics and industrial experts. You will be immersed in a research-led environment where you can learn about the synthesis and characterisation of polymers as well as their physical properties.

This course is ideal if you are looking to undertake a PhD or an industrial career in the fields of polymer synthesis and soft materials.

Our Italian and History of Art (BA) degree is split 50:50 between both subjects.

In addition to Italian language in Year One, you will take an Italian culture module and foundational modules in Art History.

In intermediate and final years at Warwick you can choose from optional modules covering the history of art across the centuries to others covering Italy from the late Middle Ages to the present.

In your final year, along with other core and optional modules you may choose to research and write a dissertation bridging the two disciplines.

You will normally spend your second or third year abroad, consolidating and enhancing your learning.

Study abroad

We strongly recommend that you take a year abroad as part of your modern languages degree, if you are able to. If you are unable to take a year abroad you may move to a three-year degree. In such cases, you will be required to complete further language reinforcement work. You will also be encouraged to spend time abroad in other ways, during vacation times.

You will usually spend your year abroad doing one of three things:

• Working as a language assistant teaching English in a primary or secondary school
• Studying full-time at a partner university in your chosen country
• On a work placement

Most students going to Italy opt for an exchange at a partner university. Some are successful in obtaining a (highly competitive) language assistantship. Most students apply through the British Council's English Language Assistant scheme during the first term of their second year at Warwick.

You will receive practical and theoretical training in two core modules and further specialisation as well as broader knowledge in six optional modules of your choice. Teaching at Master’s level places greater emphasis on practical work than at undergraduate level. This includes coursework reports and learning state-of-the-art specialised research subfields.

After completing successfully the taught portion of the course, you will continue for a further ten weeks to put your knowledge into practice through a dissertation.

Civil Engineering is everything you see that’s been built around us, the kind of things we take for granted everyday but would find life hard to live without: roads and railways, schools and hospitals or water and power supplies.

Civil engineers design, create, connect and change the world, making places work for the people that live there, and working on projects that can make a real difference to people’s lives.

Engineering students at Warwick develop an in-depth understanding of the classical principles of Engineering by following a general engineering programme for the first four terms.

If you then choose to specialise in Civil Engineering, you will develop expertise in the fundamental principles of analysis, design, sustainability and safety. This will enhance the quality of life for present and future generations.

By choosing the MEng degree you can explore specialist areas of Civil Engineering through fourth-year core and optional module choices and a group project.

Study abroad

You may choose to take an intercalated year in industry, research or study abroadLink opens in a new window between years two and three (BEng and MEng), or between years three and four (MEng only). If you choose to take an intercalated year, this will be reflected in your degree title, and add a year to your degree programme.

This program provides you with a wide range of in-depth knowledge and skills, and enables you to focus on aspects of intercultural communication that are relevant to people working either in business or in other professions.

Our core modules develop your ability to analyse, explain and investigate effective communication across cultures. Optional modules enable you to select particular areas in which you want to specialise, according to your own intellectual interests or career aspirations.

The program concludes with an empirical piece of research, which will allow you to put your knowledge into practice and further hone your practical skills in carrying out systematic research.

The foundational first year consists of four core modules that balance theory and practice. The second and third years are defined by optionality with the opportunity to select from a wide range of modules designed by our diverse team of specialist staff.

You will join a Department that fosters a strong sense of community and will work with your peers to continually design, make, discuss and debate theatre and performance. Staff will see, understand and develop you as an individual, helping you to create a pathway through the course to achieve your ambitions.

By branching into medicinal chemistry you will apply your chemical knowledge to the discovery, design, and synthesis of new drugs for clinical use. Our four-year Medicinal Chemistry degree combines a solid foundation in chemistry with specialist knowledge in advanced medicinal chemistry/biochemistry.

Specialist modules explore the process of medicinal drug discovery, from the initial concept of a new product to the discovery stage, clinical trials, scale-up, and production. You can explore the biochemistry of these processes, and how this leads to medical breakthroughs. In addition to research-led teaching from top academics, you will benefit from external lectures given by pharmaceutical industry leaders. You will also complete a final-year research project.

Study abroad

Our programmes offer a range of options to work or study abroad for three, six or 12 months, for example at a pharmaceutical company or at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.

The demand for mathematical statisticians has expanded so rapidly in recent years that both within and outside the academic world there is a severe shortage of well-qualified people. These degrees enable you to specialise in both pure mathematics and statistics. They offer flexibility and a wide choice of options in Computing, Operational Research and all the other topics available to Mathematics students.

The BSc and MMathStat are the same for the first two years of study, making it easy to reconsider your preference in the second year. Differences become apparent in the final years, with the MMathStat degree offering a supervised research project and the possibility to specialise in areas such as advanced statistics, biostatistics, computational statistics, actuarial and financial mathematics, and probability.
