Designed for budding entrepreneurs, for those with family businesses that need transforming, and for those wanting to bring an innovative entrepreneurial mindset to their next job, this course will allow you to apply best practice approaches to your business proposals to maximise chances of success.

It is a practical course, covering the process from generating new business ideas, developing, testing, and refining ideas, and designing the infrastructure, right through to launching the business. You will focus on how innovation can be exploited in technological and business contexts, to increase success for new product or services-based businesses.

You will cover themes such as business modelling, sales, starting a new business, innovation, leadership and financial issues. Throughout your dissertation, you will rigorously develop your own business ideas, guided by experienced mentors, so that by the end of the course you will be in a strong position to launch your own business.

We have a Business Accelerator within the department, where companies and student start-ups can get ongoing technology and business support, a large alumni network of successful entrepreneurs, and pathways for entrepreneurship visa sponsorship.

You will be taught by academics who are shaping the field internationally within both Psychology and Linguistics, and those working at the intersection of both subjects.

You will gain a critical awareness of psychological research and theory; the ability to analyze the structure of language and patterns of the language; plus communication, research, presentation and collaboration skills.

Our Department is part of the University’s large global network of exchange partners, with long-standing agreements with prestigious universities around the world. A particularly popular Warwick option is with Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, acknowledged as one of the world’s top universities.

Our students have previously undertaken study abroad opportunities in Brazil, China, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, South Korea, Spain and the USA. Typically, when students choose to study abroad, they apply in their second year for the third year of study at a partner institution. Students then return to Warwick for their final year.

Sociology – the study of humans in society – is at the heart of the roadmap towards a sustainable future. Each of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals has a sociological aspect, and understanding the social implications of world trade, economic growth, and climate change has never been more critical.

Since the birth of the neoliberal era, major global transformations have redefined societies across the world. Sociologists are now focusing on why the current organisation of society might itself be unsustainable, researching innovative solutions to develop social-environmental relationships that are less environmentally harmful.

On this course, you will combine sociological concepts, including race, identity, ethnicity, and gender, and apply these to global issues such as wealth inequality, elite power, and food security. Our transdisciplinary approach also gives you the freedom to research the topics that most interest you.

By studying GSD, you’ll take a transdisciplinary approach and confront issues from a diverse array of perspectives. Study abroad

We encourage you to take the opportunity to study abroad during your course at Warwick.

• Enjoy the freedom to take chances with your module choices.

• You may have the opportunity to learn a new language and immerse yourself in a new learning context.
• You may choose to apply for an intercalated year spent either studying abroad or on a work placement (subject to you meeting departmental academic requirements). This will mean extending your course to four years.

If you want to extend your learning and broaden your perspective by studying abroad for a year, Warwick has partnerships with universities across the world. You will spend your first and second years at Warwick, studying abroad in your third year. You will then return to Warwick for your final year.

This MA provides a thorough grounding in the skills and knowledge required to support the career development of others in a range of contexts. We will enable you to make a distinctive contribution to the field of career development and coaching studies through taught modules and independent research. The MA is approved by the Career Development Institute (CDI) as meeting the qualification requirement for the UK Register of Career Development Professionals.

International Security is a field of study concerned with questions about war and peace, life and death, safety and survival. Traditionally its terrain has focused on concerns about the stability of the states’ system, the use of force, nuclear proliferation, military strategy, intelligence and the distribution of resources. Today, however, concerns about climate change, migration, poverty, health, privatisation, organised crime and international terrorism are also on the agenda.

Our MA is one of the most comprehensive international security graduate programmes in the country taught by staff at the innovative forefront of international security research. You will choose from a broad range of modules with a diverse thematic and geographic focus.

Big data and quantitative methods are transforming political processes and decisions in everyday life.

Local, national and international administrations are making ‘open data’ available to wide audiences; giant, world-level web organisations are putting more and more services in synergy; and some private companies or governments are developing strongly ideological projects in relation with big data. Therefore, there is a need for trained specialists who will have the capacity to compete and/or collaborate with strictly business or technique-oriented actors on the basis of sound knowledge from political and international studies.

Our programme provides you with an understanding of the implications of different approaches to issues concerning big data and public policy.

Recent scientific and technical innovations means electronic engineers are central to the design and manufacture of a vast range of products and systems.

Our Electronic Engineering degree draws on both industrial and academic experience to provide skills that are aligned with best commercial practices and much sought after by employers.

Our graduates are well placed to contribute within a variety of sectors in addition to electronic engineering, such as design and production, energy, transport, the built environment, information and communications.

Study abroad

You may choose to take an intercalated year in industry, research or study abroad between years two and three (BEng and MEng) or between years three and four (MEng only). If you choose to take an intercalated year this will be reflected in your degree title, and add a year to your degree programme.

This MSc will help you to build your subject knowledge of Chemistry while also enhancing your ability to communicate science, with a focus on writing for scientific publications or communication in the media.

You will gain a Master’s level education in technical chemistry modules and develop key research skills by completing a project in one of our world-class research groups, using state-of-the-art synthesis and equipment.

By the end of the course, you will possess advanced chemical knowledge and also the ability to effectively communicate often complex scientific concepts to others, preparing you for a career in research, scientific writing, science education or science communication.

This degree has an emphasis on the influence of the Spanish language and Hispanic societies and cultures. The course considers the approaches to national and global political issues and political theory alongside international relations, and Spanish language study.

Your degree will be split 50:50 between Politics and International Studies and Hispanic Studies with the choice of a 75:25 split in favor of either subject in the final year. You will emerge with strong written and oral Spanish communication skills, as well as sought-after investigative, evaluative and presentation skills, gained through independent and collaborative study.

There is a compulsory year abroad in a Spanish-speaking country in year two or three.

With around 400 million speakers in the world, Spanish is one of the most important languages for commerce and cultural exchange.

This degree offers an innovative approach to studying the Spanish language alongside a diverse range of Hispanic cultures and history from across the world.

You will work with leading researchers and have access to outstanding facilities and resources; including flexible learning spaces and a vast selection of print, digital, and multimedia learning materials. You will normally spend your second or third year abroad, consolidating and enhancing your learning.

Study abroad

We strongly recommend that you take a year abroad as part of your modern languages degree, if you are able to. If you are unable to take a year abroad you may move to a three-year degree. In such cases, you will be required to complete further language reinforcement work. You will also be encouraged to spend time abroad in other ways, during vacation times.

You will usually spend your year abroad doing one of three things:

• Working as a language assistant teaching English in a primary or secondary school
• Studying full-time at a partner university in your chosen country
• On a work placement
