Giving you a comprehensive engineering education combined with specialist knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, this course addresses industry’s demand for graduates who can integrate the principles and applications of mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering. You will learn to evaluate a range of solutions to engineering problems, and to select and apply appropriate solutions to engineering systems. You will use software packages to design, analyse, and evaluate system designs. As you progress, you will develop your integrative approach to designing electro-mechanical systems and become familiar with the techniques of digital signal processing. In the first year of the course, you will study engineering principles across a broad range of topics. The second year combines mechanical engineering subjects with areas such as embedded systems, digital and analogue electronics and electronic systems design. In the final year of the BEng, there is an emphasis on the design and analysis of electromechanical systems. You will also have the opportunity of preparing a business plan around a product that you have designed. Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering with Sandwich Placement
In addition to gaining in-depth knowledge and understanding of the core subject, you will also gain experience of designing engineering systems that incorporate aspects of the mechanical and electrical/electronic technologies. In addition to experimental work at the University you will use Radar equipment at the DCAE Cosford Royal Air Force base - the same equipment used to train Air Force personnel.

This Masters course in Emergency Planning Resilience and Response will provide you with an opportunity for you to develop master’s level education in the concepts theories and academic skills for emergency planning, resilience, business continuity and disaster management and recovery .The course caters for professionals who may already be working in this field or those wishing to embark on a career in emergency planning. The course aims to offer a flexible approach to the subjects studied and those already working in this area will be able to develop further their knowledge skills and experience. The course will ensure you develop a sound working knowledge of the principles and practice of emergency planning and the underpinning policy. You will develop valuable skills in communication and strategic leadership. You will also develop a wide range of inter-personal skills for effective use in multi-agency teams. There will be opportunities to take part in exercises and training in simulated emergency settings with a wide range of professional and other Key Stakeholders and organisations involved in emergency planning.
You will study six 20 credit modules and conduct a 60 credit Master’s level piece of independent research. You may also use the accreditation of prior experience and learning process to credit appropriate experience or past level 7 credits for learning, towards the course. You will be able to study a range of subjects for the 60 credits at PG Certificate (Cert) level and 60 credits at PG Diploma (Dip) level. The 60 credit independent study module can be selected from three options, either an evidence based practice module containing two major assessments, usually of relevance to your current workplace (under the supervision of an experienced member of staff), a Consultancy Project which will be negotiated by an employer or third party organisation where you may agree delivery parameters of a consultancy project , carry out the required work and academically evaluate the process and outcomes or the research dissertation. This module consists of an independent study designed, planned & carried out by yourself (under the supervision of an experienced member of staff), written up into dissertation of a minimum of 15,000 words.

Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Aerospace Engineering
The overall aim of this course is to ensure graduates have a comprehensive engineering education combined with specialist knowledge of aerospace engineering recognised in the professional engineering community by an accredited degree. The first year of study is very much about mastering the underpinning engineering principles, accompanied by an introduction to airframes and aircraft propulsion, engine testing and design. Year two combines mechanical engineering topics, for example thermodynamics and the role of the engineer in society, with specialist topics that include control and aircraft systems, and airflow analysis and simulation. The third year of study includes topics related to supersonic and subsonic aerodynamics, energy and sustainability and new and advanced engineering materials. Should you choose to study the MEng, then specialist topics such as emerging propulsion technologies are accompanied with broadening studies that include business and management accounting, and aircraft and airport operations.
What happens on the course?
Whilst the UK no longer builds complete passenger aircraft, we are leaders in providing aircraft systems. These range from Airbus A380 wings and Boeing Dreamliner thermal management systems to Eurofighter Typhoon wheels and brakes, all powered by Rolls Royce aero engines. The overall aim of this course is to ensure graduates have a comprehensive engineering education combined with specialist knowledge of aerospace engineering recognised in the professional engineering community by an accredited degree.
The first year of study is very much about mastering the underpinning engineering principles, accompanied by an introduction to airframes and aircraft propulsion. Year two combines mechanical engineering topics with specialist modules that include control and aircraft systems, and aircraft and space vehicle structures, together with legislation and regulation frameworks associated with the aerospace industry. You will also study engineering management and learn the role and responsibilities of a professional engineer. The third year of study is again a mix of traditional mechanical engineering subjects, combined with specialist topics such as flight aerodynamics. This is developed further in the MEng to include flight dynamics and control and wind tunnel analysis and verification.
