Research-led teaching with a multi-disciplinary focus will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to address complex environmental problems such as climate change, air pollution and energy transitions.

Economic development, population growth, poverty, and globalisation all place increasing demands on our environment and its resources.

Our unique Environment, Economics and Ecology degree focuses on ecosystem services - the processes by which the environment produces the resources we need such as clean air, water, food and materials.

Our health and wellbeing depends upon these services and our use and management of these natural resources. We study the links between human and natural systems, and the need for a holistic socio-ecological approach to understand challenges and solutions to environmental conservation and sustainable development.

With continuing advances in technology, high user expectations and increasing statutory requirements, there is a high-demand for skilled engineers in electronic computing.

Unlike pure computing degrees which often concentrate on the software, scientific and mathematical aspects of computing, this course will provide you with a wider range of engineering skills, including in hardware and applications of computing to electronic systems. The course draws from the expertise of the Intelligent Systems and Nano-science Research Group at York.

This course will consolidate your knowledge of fundamental principles and introduce you to more advanced concepts. You'll experience a large team software engineering project, as well as managing a substantial individual project, allowing you to develop the knowledge and skills required to become a leader in the industry. Psychologists use observation and experimental evidence to understand the relationship between our sensations and actions but also the intervening processes that underlie our behaviour. Social psychology studies interactions, group behaviour and culture. Cognitive neuroscience examines the mechanisms of the individual brain, right down to its cells and the connections between them.

Here at the University of York, we teach psychology as a rigorous experimental biological science.

With access to the latest computer design labs, multi-speaker surround sound systems, multimedia studios and an anechoic chamber you’ll be able to explore synthesiser technology, MIDI, audio recording, sampling and digital audio signal processing. You’ll not just learn how this technology is applied in making and recording music, but also use your engineering expertise to design and build the next generation of audio technology.

The MEng is a fully accredited engineering course which combines professional electronics with audio and music technology.

Our BSc Mathematics and Physics program gives you access to the combined expertise of the Departments of Physics and Mathematics. Our specialist teaching emphasises the mathematical structure of physical theory, providing a strong basis on which to build a comprehensive understanding of modern physics.
