This MSW offers a concentration in rural based clinical social work practice. Students learn the fundamental knowledge, skills, and ethics that guide social work practice and the populations traditionally served by the profession.

Graduates of this program are:

• Prepared to acknowledge and utilize the less formal social exchange between people and systems that exist in rural communities.
• Educated on how to identify and develop resources, and how to use natural helping networks.
• Expected to employ a broad range of approaches, theories and models in their practice and to develop skills that enable them to perform multiple roles in the helping process.

The Master of Music Degree in Performance is a 30-hour program with advanced study in instrumental, vocal, or keyboard performance, piano performance and pedagogy, or instrumental or choral conducting, culminating in a graduate recital.  Instruction is provided by faculty members who are recognized as outstanding performers in a wide variety of performance areas.  The Department of Music entrance examinations in music history, music theory, and ear training assist in planning each student’s exact course of study.

The Department of Biological Sciences serves students desiring to gain a broad background in biology, botany, environmental biology, zoology, or wildlife ecology and management. The Master of Science in Engineering (MSEng) program provides a research thesis based, advanced education in engineering. The program of study leading to the MSEng degree presents an advanced cross-disciplinary understanding of engineering sciences, experimental methods, modeling, and fabrication techniques. The goal of the MSEng program is to provide an educational experience focusing on the integration of research and technology development that allows graduates to be successful in deriving solutions to society’s most challenging technical problems. The program culminates in the defense of an original research thesis.
Specific program outcomes are listed below. Program graduates will have:

• Knowledge of advanced experimental methods and the ability to design experiments and collect data
• A good understanding of statistical concepts and an ability to apply this knowledge to achieve engineering solutions that most efficiently use information and resources
• A practical knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing techniques, specifically at the micro- and nano-scales
• An ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts to model physical systems and engineering processes to drive knowledge based design

The major in history with the Bachelor of Arts degree is recommended for those seeking a liberal education and aspiring to careers in history, law, theology, journalism, and library work; in local, state, and national public service; in business where a knowledge of domestic and foreign affairs is desirable; and in every area which requires an understanding of human activity.

The Plant and Soil Science area has a tradition of research and education in crop production, horticulture, soil management and precision agriculture technologies. We have an outstanding faculty who are developing management strategies for crop production, environmental protections, horticultural production, landscape management and maintenance, as well as preparing the future generation of land managers and agricultural professionals.

The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre is a 120-credit hour degree program designed to provide students with professional-caliber training within the framework of a liberal arts education with specific coursework in acting, directing, design, literature and history.

Private and group singing instruction, scene study, musical theatre performance and a variety of dance courses are essential components of the Musical Theatre emphasis.

A Master's Degree in Political Science is an intensive program of specialized study designed to develop students' analytical skills and deepen their substantive knowledge of political science in preparation for such pursuits as law school, teaching, or doctoral studies. The students may specialize in any of the four subfields: American politics, comparative politics, international politics or political theory.

The Mission of the MA program is to prepare students for future educational and career opportunities in both the public and private sectors. We accomplish this mission by equipping our students with substantive knowledge and methodological skills necessary to conduct research, instruct primary, secondary, and undergraduate students on civics, government, and politics, and/or pursue advanced graduate studies in professional programs (i.e., doctoral, law school, and other public and private related programs of study).

Mass Communication is the study of sharing information through media outlets to reach large population segments. The primary focus of the M.S. in Mass Communications is on the fundamentals of communication theories enabling students to acquire the ability to understand and use basic methods of communication research.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders is a preprofessional degree program which provides students with academic and practical preparation considered essential for success in the Communication Disorders graduate program.

The undergraduate curriculum offers students a broad base of preparation in general education requirements, the sciences associated with communication and its disorders, anatomy and physiology, and a number of basic methods courses associated with the identification and treatment of a variety of communication disorders.
