Study how to create complex hardware and software systems, manage complex computer information systems (IT), and lead a technical team. Now offering two new tracks in Software Engineering and Computer Information Systems. Both of these tracks will build on your existing experience by deepening your skills and knowledge in the main areas of computer science. A bachelor's degree in a related field is recommended, but not required. Optional catch-up modules are available for each course to help bring you up to speed.

Upon completion of the MSCS program, you’ll be trained in problem solving, collaboration, creative design processes, professional literature, writing, presentation, and ethical practices. You’ll be prepared for advanced professional positions in software development and other technical/design-oriented roles in computing.

Our computer science master's program was designed with working professionals in mind. You’ll get a rigorous, quality education that fits within your busy schedule. All courses will be available online in an accelerated eight week format, but three courses per semester will be offered face-to-face on campus.

Information Systems

While software engineering focuses on the development of technology solutions, information systems puts a greater emphasis on the application and management of technology solutions. The specialization courses explore advanced networking, hardware and software system design, integration, and administration in the context of current emerging technologies.

The overarching goal of the Technical and Professional Communication program is to prepare graduates to take complex information and make it consumable to internal and external audiences who may not have discipline-specific knowledge. Graduates will become more aware of the forms of communication and communication processes in order to successfully convey their messages.

The Technical and Professional Communication major will emphasize written, oral, and digital communication skills. The coursework will prepare students to collect, analyze and communicate complex information to various audiences. The Communication Department’s approach to this major asks students to complete courses including social media, interpersonal, group dynamics, visual rhetoric, technical writing and speaking, and critical thinking and information dissemination.

The program curriculum will draw upon three primary spheres: writing, visual, and digital storytelling; analytic and critical thinking skills; and oral and interpersonal skills. Additionally, students can select one of three specializations or tracks: Health Care; High-tech Literacy; and Corporate/Organizational. Some program-level learning outcomes include:

• Develop and present cogent, coherent, and accurate writing for general and specialized audiences.
• Communicate effectively to audiences by listening actively and responding constructively as Scripture instructs within various contexts.
• Draw from various disciplines to describe orally and in writing how existing knowledge or practice is advanced, tested, and revised in each core field studied.
• Distinguish and examine communication-related problems from a Christian perspective to better serve society.
• Cultivate appropriate organizational skills related to professionalism, work ethic, and attitude.

Robotics, virtual reality, and videogames are often cited as future job areas, but you could also be a part of many other fields—animation, music, automobiles, analytics…the list goes on.

What comes to mind when you think of computer science? In our modern world, there are decreasingly fewer things that don't rely on computers and technology in some shape or form, making computer science one of the most practical and versatile fields of study out there. With five different concentrations available and substantial flexibility in electives, you have the power to customize this degree and make it your own. In this program, you'll receive a well-rounded education through the Concordia Core, as well as a firm foundation of computer science knowledge through our Technology Core. You'll learn the ins and outs of hardware, software, operating systems, databases, coding, and user interfaces. From there, you can branch out into one or more concentrations of computer science, specializing in the areas that are of most interest to you. You can use your electives to earn multiple concentrations, or to explore coursework in any other field at Concordia, broadening your knowledge base.

Through a blend of the social sciences, history, and humanities, you’ll learn to guide your students through a myriad of thinking types and social structures, and be able to adapt such lessons to grade levels ranging from grade 4 to grade 12. You’ll gain a stronger sense of contemporary and past viewpoints and be able to share insights with your class that reveal how people relate to the world around them. You’ll participate in and learn how to lead discussions on civic issues and organize around solutions. Perhaps most importantly, you’ll understand how to help your students discover how people relate to each other, how we interact as groups, and how we organize our thoughts, religions, and governments. With a foundation in social studies, you’ll be able to help your students better understand their place in the world.

We are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). What does this mean and why is it important, you ask? Good Question! The CSWE mission is to ensure those attending social work programs will receive high quality education pertinent to the profession. CUW had to meet vigorous standards and criteria in our programming in order to be in good standing.

Through our social work department, CUW also provides an accredited Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program. Full- and part-time Advanced Standing options are also available for those with a BSW degree from CUW or any CSWE- accredited program.

Because music is such a diverse area, we offer five distinct paths from which you can choose, including Liberal Arts: Music, Parish Music, K-12 Music Education, Music Therapy Equivalency, and a music minor. These music degrees provide a solid, well-rounded musical education, allowing you to explore your creativity and develop your technical abilities. As a music student, you will study music theory, composition, conducting, music history, and forms of the medieval, baroque, pre-classical, romantic, and 20th century periods from around the globe. With such a thorough background, you’ll gain the skills to excel in your chosen medium.

You’ll gain mastery of current software for designing and managing business projects, while adopting proven project management tools and techniques at each stage in a project’s lifecycle. You’ll gain an understanding of how to integrate organizational strategies that involve the parent, supplier, and sub-supplier organizations working together in domestic and global environments.

You’ll also gain practical knowledge of marketing tools, market segmentation, research analysis in decision-making, media and promotion, budgeting, and evaluation. From developing a comprehensive and viable business plan to setting and obtaining investment objectives – such as capital, debt, securitization, and government subsidized options – this program will arm you with a variety of applicable skills. And you’ll learn about small businesses too, the way management is applied. Most importantly, you’ll acquire skills and experience that’ll help you become the well-rounded and insightful leader your organization deserves, whether you’re in small business, investments, or real estate.
