The theology major or minor gives you a strong understanding of the Christian faith that will support you in your chosen vocation. As a university of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), our courses are taught in accord with the Lutheran Confessions. The theology program is not intended to stand alone. Rather, it is intended primarily for those of you who are preparing for certification as professional church workers such as Lutheran School Teachers or Directors of Church Ministries (DCM). (That is why the internship is specific to your track.) If you aren’t interested in the education or church ministries routes, we highly recommend checking out the Christian Thought program.

You can expect to benefit from a well-rounded study of biblical and systematic theology, along with the application of that theology in your life within the Christian Church. You’ll  join renowned scholars  as you delve into the Old and New Testaments, systematic doctrine, and practical theology (teaching and worship). We offer many theology electives, so you can explore and grow in the particular areas that interest you.

Study how to create complex hardware and software systems, manage complex computer information systems (IT), and lead a technical team. Now offering two new tracks in Software Engineering and Computer Information Systems. Both of these tracks will build on your existing experience by deepening your skills and knowledge in the main areas of computer science. A bachelor's degree in a related field is recommended, but not required. Optional catch-up modules are available for each course to help bring you up to speed.

Upon completion of the MSCS program, you’ll be trained in problem solving, collaboration, creative design processes, professional literature, writing, presentation, and ethical practices. You’ll be prepared for advanced professional positions in software development and other technical/design-oriented roles in computing.

Our computer science master's program was designed with working professionals in mind. You’ll get a rigorous, quality education that fits within your busy schedule. All courses will be available online in an accelerated eight week format, but three courses per semester will be offered face-to-face on campus.

Software Engineering

The software engineering track builds or sharpens your skills in creating problem-solving tools using computers. The specialization courses dive into traditional concepts and current trends in the theory, design, and implementation of programming languages, compilers, and advanced algorithms. A MSCS degree with this concentration opens the door for advancement in a career in software development, data or business analysis, and more. People in this field with a master's degree typically perform roles such as team lead or senior developer.

CUW has teamed up with Milwaukee Area Technical College to provide this bachelor degree program. What does this mean for you? First and foremost, you’ll receive state-of-the-art training in environmental health and water quality from experts at MATC coupled with the top-notch liberal arts program and large selection of minors offered at CUW.

Moreover, you can choose whichever route best fits your goals and needs while you obtain your degree—whether you enroll at CUW for a traditional four-year experience and commute the 3+ miles to MATC, or you divide your education into two distinct periods by completing MATC’s two-year, associate-level program prior to enrolling at CUW. Either choice will equip you with the skills you’ll need to make an impact; it’s up to you to decide which one best suits you.
Our environmental health and water quality technology program will teach you how to identify, monitor, and evaluate environmental health hazards. You’ll learn to promote environmental protection, improvement, and sustainability. Furthermore, you’ll be ready to apply relevant guidelines and regulations, control and handle hazardous materials, and perform water and wastewater analysis. The environmental health and water Quality technology program provides a solid foundation for a range of career opportunities that include the application of regulations and procedures to identify, evaluate, and control hazards.

Once you have your MBA in Accounting, you can pick your industry of choice based on what interests you the most. The important thing is that you’ll be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). This program is designed to provide you with the skills necessary to sit for the national CPA exam. Among other business foundations, you’ll learn essential skills like advanced auditing, global production and operations, as well as systems management and design. And you’ll receive direct, one-on-one instruction from current professionals eager to give you the most practical experience you could ask for - so you’ll be prepared for the corporate world.

As a graduate of the program, you’ll not only have greater expertise in accounting, but you’ll also come out as a better leader with the skills to make strategic decisions. You’ll know how to manage fraud, be confident in handling advanced accounting issues, communicate clearly, and lead diverse groups of people. Plus, you’ll have the knowledge you need to become a CPA - so you can join the field a step ahead.

It’s important for kids to stay healthy, and in order to do that they need to move and have a better understanding of their health. With a degree in K-12 physical education, you will teach students the importance of exercise and health education in order to set them up for a healthy lifestyle.

To become a physical education teacher, there is a variety of coursework involved. You will have a better understanding of the human body with exercise physiology, motor development, anatomy, and physiology. You’ll also learn the ins and out of health education with personal, family, and community health. To get to this point, you’ll gain clinical experience and feel prepared to support learners with adaptive physical education needs. Upon completion of the program, you will receive a Physical Education, Health, Athletic Coaching, and Adaptive Physical Education license.

Explore the major concepts, theoretical views, empirical findings, and historical trends in political science while studying the foundations of American national, state, and local government. This involves a careful study of liberal democracy (and the competing ideologies), as well as the rights and responsibilities of citizens. Our curriculum emphasizes the importance of living in accord with the values and ethics of the Christian faith; thus, we will examine the relationship between religion and politics in the United States. Ultimately, you will be trained to make a positive impact in the public square be critically analyzing today’s most challenging issues.

Develop the writing, speaking, critical thinking, and research skills that are essential within public service. Gain hands-on experience through an intensive internship at the local, state, or national political level. Your final project will take place over the course of your senior year. Two courses, Research Proposal and Senior Seminar, will culminate in a thesis that addresses a political question that interests you. Upon graduation, you will be equipped to pursue graduate studies or begin a career in government, law, journalism, non-profit agencies, education, and the military.

Through a blend of the social sciences, history, and humanities, you’ll learn to guide your students through a myriad of thinking types and social structures, and be able to adapt such lessons to grade levels ranging from grade 4 to grade 12. You’ll gain a stronger sense of contemporary and past viewpoints and be able to share insights with your class that reveal how people relate to the world around them. You’ll participate in and learn how to lead discussions on civic issues and organize around solutions. Perhaps most importantly, you’ll understand how to help your students discover how people relate to each other, how we interact as groups, and how we organize our thoughts, religions, and governments. With a foundation in social studies, you’ll be able to help your students better understand their place in the world.

The field of public health, “promotes and protects the health of people in the communities where they live, learn, work, and play” (American Public Health Association). It is a very diverse, crosscutting discipline with vast opportunities, in both public and private sectors, at the local, state, and national levels. Through this field of study, you will truly make a difference in people’s lives

This degree offers a Lutheran Christian perspective on public health and prepares you to serve Christ around the world as a globally minded citizen working to protect and promote the public’s health. It is an engaging, multidisciplinary educational program filled with practical application opportunities to prepare you to be a strong, competitive candidate in the public health sector.

In this degree program, you will have the opportunity to personalize your concentration depending on your interest. Regardless of which concentration you choose, all undergraduate students will complete a minimum of 120 credits, including 45 credit hours of general education core curricula, 25 credit hours of required public health coursework, and 3 credit hours of a culminating/capstone project

You need a wide range of knowledge about public relations, program evaluation, board governance, fundraising and volunteer recruitment. With an MBA in Nonprofit Management and Public Administration, you’ll gain the practical knowledge you need while receiving a holistic, faith-based education.

Our MBA in Nonprofit Management and Public Administration combines the strength of the MBA curriculum with the deeper study of management issues and operations unique to nonprofit organizations and government agencies. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from experts in the field who bring their real-world experience into the classroom. They’ll immerse you in subjects like governance and board development, fundraising and budgeting strategies, volunteer recruitment, public and intergovernmental relations, financial and legal issues, program evaluation and fraud prevention.

This is a program intended for lovers of wisdom. You’ll develop a trained mind that thinks clearly, precisely, and rigorously. This program will introduce you to the central texts of the world’s greatest ancient, medieval, modern, and contemporary thinkers. You’ll learn the methods of careful definition, logical analysis, and argumentation. In addition to core foundations of a robust philosophy program, our program has special emphases on apologetics, moral philosophy, bioethics, human rights, and human dignity. It all boils down to this: the CUW Philosophy program will prepare you to be a thinker. And since you’ll be able to specialize in any area of philosophy that interests you most, you’ll experience the true thrill of charting your own intellectual course in life.

You will leave a different person than when you arrived. Your mind will be an interesting place, full of curiosity, wonder and intellectual fulfillment.  Upon completion you should feel equipped for either additional graduate-level study  or entrance into the professional world. Not everyone immediately sees the connection between a degree in philosophy and success in the business world, but even a quick glance at some of the top CEOs and entrepreneurs in America shows one thing in common - a philosophy degree. It should come as no surprise that critical thinkers, who think analytically and deeply about problems, would quickly rise to the top. Perhaps most importantly, you will learn how to engage with society’s dominant discourses and trends from a whole different angle than the majority of your peers.
