The overarching goal of the Technical and Professional Communication program is to prepare graduates to take complex information and make it consumable to internal and external audiences who may not have discipline-specific knowledge. Graduates will become more aware of the forms of communication and communication processes in order to successfully convey their messages.

The Technical and Professional Communication major will emphasize written, oral, and digital communication skills. The coursework will prepare students to collect, analyze and communicate complex information to various audiences. The Communication Department’s approach to this major asks students to complete courses including social media, interpersonal, group dynamics, visual rhetoric, technical writing and speaking, and critical thinking and information dissemination.

The program curriculum will draw upon three primary spheres: writing, visual, and digital storytelling; analytic and critical thinking skills; and oral and interpersonal skills. Additionally, students can select one of three specializations or tracks: Health Care; High-tech Literacy; and Corporate/Organizational. Some program-level learning outcomes include:

• Develop and present cogent, coherent, and accurate writing for general and specialized audiences.
• Communicate effectively to audiences by listening actively and responding constructively as Scripture instructs within various contexts.
• Draw from various disciplines to describe orally and in writing how existing knowledge or practice is advanced, tested, and revised in each core field studied.
• Distinguish and examine communication-related problems from a Christian perspective to better serve society.
• Cultivate appropriate organizational skills related to professionalism, work ethic, and attitude.
• Analyze complex data and be able to combine them into easily-understandable presentations utilizing excellent critical thinking skills.

A good manager can adapt to almost any business structure in any industry. Because managerial skills are, for the most part, universal. This program will allow you to explore how businesses are structured and provide you with the skills you’ll need to succeed in almost any environment. You’ll gain mastery of current software for designing and managing business projects, while adopting proven project management tools and techniques at each stage in a project’s lifecycle. You’ll gain an understanding of how to integrate organizational strategies that involve the parent, supplier, and sub-supplier organizations working together in domestic and global environments.

You’ll also gain practical knowledge of marketing tools, market segmentation, research analysis in decision-making, media and promotion, budgeting, and evaluation. From developing a comprehensive and viable business plan to setting and obtaining investment objectives – such as capital, debt, securitization, and government subsidized options – this program will arm you with a variety of applicable skills. And you’ll learn about small businesses too, the way management is applied. Most importantly, you’ll acquire skills and experience that’ll help you become the well-rounded and insightful leader your organization deserves, whether you’re in small business, investments, or real estate.

The increasing complexity of construction projects due to regulations, laws, risk management, and technological advances are increasing the demand for managers with specialized knowledge in the industry. Through our program you will learn the expected standards for construction and trades materials, safety, energy efficiency, environmental protection, and mitigating potential litigation. Sophistication in building materials, construction methods, and technologies are needed to repair and expand infrastructure.

As a graduate of this program, you will be equipped to enter the industry as a leader, problem solver, and innovator. You will become valued members of the team for being able to apply modern knowledge to the planning, cost estimating, scheduling, supervision, and communication of projects in a timely and safe manner.

This program is offered at the Center locations listed below. Please note, specific Construction and Trades Management (CTM) courses will only be offered at Appleton, Kenosha and Madison. Students may take all other courses at any Center location.

Through this program, you will:

• Gain knowledge of a variety of methods of professional communication (orally and written) for construction and trades audiences
• Recognize legal, ethical, and safety issues and apply professional and Christian standards in decision making and problem solving while minimizing risk
• Apply modern methods of electronic technology, cost estimating and control, project scheduling techniques, and project management to chosen field
• Learn field inspection techniques and safety standards while maintaining high quality assurance and control
• Navigate organizational dynamics, including leadership and employee development as relevant to construction and trades organizations

Our goal in the Master of Occupational Therapy program is to prepare you as an outstanding occupational therapist, who will positively impact communities by empowering others to reach their highest potential through leadership, best practice, advocacy, and innovation. We emphasize the importance of serving all clients with the best care possible.

You’ll develop the skills necessary to enable people (persons, groups, or populations) to do their day-to-day occupations for the purpose of improving or enabling participation. (OTPF-4, 2020) By combining classroom, laboratory, and supervised clinic-based instruction, our courses train you for a wide range of occupational therapy settings.

Through our program you’ll be able to:

• Demonstrate advocacy skills to be an effective change-maker in surrounding communities
• Use best practice for the evaluation, intervention, and measurement of outcomes for individuals or communities
• Effectively and efficiently solve occupation-based problems
• Develop leadership skills
• Effectively communicate and collaborate in a variety of communities

Students in the MOT program will have the opportunity to explore the entry-level Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTDe) degree. At the conclusion of the second semester, students will be given the choice to continue in the MOT program or declare interest in the OTDe program. Students who declare interest in the OTDe will be evaluated by OT faculty to determine eligibility to enroll in OTDe coursework.

This is a full time graduate professional program taught in a blended format. Students interact with their classmates and professors online before and after in person classes, which focus on active learning and/or lab activities. Students apply to and enroll in one of three tracks, as determined by their educational background:

• Accelerated
  • Students starting as a freshman at CUW looking to earn a bachelor's and master's degree in 4.5 years
• Bridge
  • COTAs looking to further their education and opportunities as an OTR
• Post-baccalaureate
  • Applicants holding a bachelor's degree

It truly is a global economy. And perhaps there’s a place for you somewhere in the mix. This program centers on international finance and global economics, offering you the global focus that today’s leaders need to effectively manage international business operations.

You’ll find evidence of our global economy in the stuff you use every day – the stuff that adds quality to your life: your phone, your computer, your car, even the clothes on your back. The truth is, much of it was built in a foreign country and imported before it went up for sale here at home. A bachelor’s in international business will help you understand the complexity of international business operations. The program combines liberal arts and general business courses with foreign language and communication studies, and a semester abroad to set you on the path to become a qualified manager with an international perspective. You’ll learn how business is conducted both in and between different nations, while studying the effects financial systems, government policies, and cultural differences have on the global economy. You’ll understand how different IT tools help people communicate, manage data, and solve problems. You’ll dip into marketing, risk management, and insurance. And you’ll gain valuable insight in how to manage complexity in an international environment.

You will complete the Concordia core curriculum and electives, in addition to the credits transferred, to complete your bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology. We encourage you to select a minor that will help you fulfill the total number of credits (120) needed for graduation. You can transfer up to 84 credits and a minimum of 63 credits. This degree can be completed in a year and a half or less! From the very start, we will match you with an academic advisor to determine how many credits you are able to transfer, and get you started on your journey to growing in your career.

We understand that you are a busy working professional. That is why this program provides flexible learning options. Each course lasts 6 or 8 weeks (depending on the given format). You’ll benefit from coursework that is founded on a Christ-centered education.

With this degree, you will be a key part of the health care field by safely creating images needed to check for bone fractures, blocked blood vessels, abnormal growths in breast tissue, brain tumors, and so much more. Upon graduation, you will be ready to find a rewarding career in a variety of settings. Alumni have gone on to work in hospitals, physician's’ offices, medical and diagnostic labs, do research, administration, education, and so much more!

A Bachelor of Science in Justice and Public Policy (JPP) from CUW will help you understand how administrative law, along with procedural, and substantive criminal laws apply to effecting arrest search and seizure, evidence collection, and courtroom procedures. You’ll learn best practices pertaining to field and custodial interviews, criminal investigations, and procedures involving juvenile. If you are considering an advanced degree, an introductory courses in criminal justice research methods and criminal psychology will prepare you to understand sociological, psychological, bio-physiological, and free-will theories, while learning how to apply theory to practice within the American civil and criminal court systems, correctional system, and justice system.

What does all that add up to? It creates a foundation for a career in a wide variety of criminal justice related fields by giving you quality instruction. One hundred percent of all faculty have certifications and/or extensive experience in their respective field. This lends itself to practical and experiential guidance in blending your personal and professional ethical values within a system of justice and public policy.

This program will prepare you with basic knowledge on the path to a successful career in an array of fields including attorney, correctional officer, court administrator, federal special agent, law enforcement officer, paralegal, natural resources warden, probation and parole officer, military career, and security management. It is a foundational degree to complete if you aspire to pursue law school or other public policy-focused graduate work. In short, if your goal is to work in the criminal justice field with practical knowledge and understanding of how your decisions and actions serve the community, this degree is for you.

Data science is the extraction of knowledge from large volumes of data. The CUW data science and applied analytics program will equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to ethically manipulate and effectively analyze data, revealing insights into problem domains.

Did you know that "Data Scientist" has been named the best job in America for three years running (according to Glassdoor)? And the job outlook is only growing over the next 10 years. As a Data Scientist, you extract, visualize, and communicate information from large volumes of data and work in a variety of areas such as Public Health, Sports and Human Performance, and Environmental Issues.
Through this program's curriculum, you will gain knowledge from four main areas of study: math and statistics, computer science, data science and analytics, and communication. The program emphasizes using tools from statistics, mathematics, and technology to extract valuable information from large sets of data and skills from communication to convey information and insights to a broad audience.

As a DSAA student, you may select a concentration in Public Health, Environmental Issues, or Sport and Human Performance to learn context, vernacular, and key issues of a particular field. Some learning outcomes for this program include:

• Analyze and interpret data using an ethical approach stemming from a Christian worldview
• Demonstrate the ability to select the appropriate statistical analysis and execute using statistical software
• Discern appropriate algorithms and software tools as they apply to problem-solving in various user domains
• Apply data science and analytics concepts and strategies to solve real-world problems
• Communicate the solutions efefctively using oral, written, and symbolic formats

This program is designed specifically for students who want to engage in serious theological discussion, and who are not also pursuing an Education or Director of Church Ministries degree.

In this program, you’ll have the opportunity to study the structure of Christian belief and practice. You’ll dive into God’s Word as well as respected Lutheran doctrinal texts to properly frame your thoughts and perspectives before exploring the cultural, political, and theological implications of God’s Word on your daily life. In short, this program is for anyone with an earnest desire to better understand and grapple with God’s message of salvation so that you can communicate it with confidence and zeal for the benefit of the Kingdom.

CUW has teamed up with Milwaukee Area Technical College to provide this bachelor degree program. What does this mean for you? First and foremost, you’ll receive state-of-the-art training in environmental health and water quality from experts at MATC coupled with the top-notch liberal arts program and large selection of minors offered at CUW.

Moreover, you can choose whichever route best fits your goals and needs while you obtain your degree—whether you enroll at CUW for a traditional four-year experience and commute the 3+ miles to MATC, or you divide your education into two distinct periods by completing MATC’s two-year, associate-level program prior to enrolling at CUW. Either choice will equip you with the skills you’ll need to make an impact; it’s up to you to decide which one best suits you.
Our environmental health and water quality technology program will teach you how to identify, monitor, and evaluate environmental health hazards. You’ll learn to promote environmental protection, improvement, and sustainability. Furthermore, you’ll be ready to apply relevant guidelines and regulations, control and handle hazardous materials, and perform water and wastewater analysis. The environmental health and water Quality technology program provides a solid foundation for a range of career opportunities that include the application of regulations and procedures to identify, evaluate, and control hazards.
