Our bachelors in accounting is focused on well-rounded preparation, gearing students for success in all realms of accounting practice and providing them with the knowledge base required for key certifications including the CPA, CMA, and CIA. And in the process, you’ll be made ready for a career in private industry or public accounting, with courses covering a lot of ground — from Intermediate and Cost Accounting to Individual and Corporate Income Tax.

You will learn to understand and represent the myriad complexities of business transactions, processes, and strategies through an accounting based framework founded on GAAP and IFRS. Specifically, you will develop competence across a wide range of accounting knowledge and practices:

• Gathering and recording financial information, with its compilation and communication
• Applying best practices in budgeting, planning, and forecasting
• Supporting and integrating business operations through cost accounting and advanced analytics
• Establishing internal controls to support ethical business operations and reporting
• Developing and providing effective financial audits
• Reporting for non-profits, state governments, and partnerships
• Accounting for advanced business transactions related to mergers & acquisitions, foreign currencies, and financial derivatives

Diagnostic medical sonography (DMS) is a multi-specialty profession which utilizes high frequency sound waves to image the human body. Sonographers use their knowledge of anatomy, physiology and applied critical thinking to assess function and the presence of disease processes. Sonographers work under the guidance of an interpreting physician in a variety of health care settings. Concordia University offers a Bachelor’s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. The degree includes two years of core requirements and prerequisite classes specific to the major.

Objectives

• To monitor the community needs for sonographers and respond to those needs.
• To monitor the practice of Sonography within our community and adjust our academic and clinical training to meet those needs.
• Facilitate, monitor, and support the implementation of best practices in sonography education.
• Develop an empathetic approach to the patient as a person, rather than a bearer of disease or injury.
• Acquaint the student with the emotional and technical aspects of being a member of a health care team.
• Incorporate meaningful relationships between didactic and clinical experiences.
• Provide a personalized curriculum within the guidelines of school policies and procedures.

This concentration in leadership along with the MBA core courses will prepare you to problem solve through practical applications for decision-making in the dynamic business environment. Pairing this core with a concentration in leadership gives you a specific focus on leadership with emphasis on understanding yourself as a leader, leading teams, and leading organizations.Your studies will combine theoretical study of leadership with the practical techniques and skills required in today’s organizations. You’ll discover your leadership strengths and integrate your technical competencies to lead teams and organizations. You’ll graduate with a strong set of business competencies by understanding the qualitative and quantitative data that drive business decision-making, all while building the “soft skills” that will make you a more effective leader in your organization. Our Mass Communication major will ground you in writing, speaking and interpersonal communication skills. You’ll learn the basics of reporting, writing and editing in a journalistic style as well as studying the history of animation from silent film to digital media. During your time in the program, you’ll have the opportunity to learn effective broadcast news writing techniques, produce programming for our radio station, and complete your own film or video project. Plus, you’ll write articles for CUW’s school newspaper, The Beacon. This practical training, combined with a strong liberal arts education that is founded in our Christian mission, will prepare you to tell your organization’s story in a meaningful way. Whatever organization you end up in, you’ll be ready to make an impact while doing what you love.  This program also available as a minor.

As a graduate in the Mass Communication program, you’ll leave with all the skills you need to communicate effectively through a variety of channels. Not only will you be a stronger communicator,  you’ll be a better leader. Having studied topics like interpersonal communication and cross-cultural communication, you’ll be ready to work with diverse groups of people. You’ll also be able to evaluate broadcast news writing and radio dialogue to critically think about the best way to convey your message. What’s more, you’ll examine issues within the field like building or breaking trust with an audience and analyzing why certain messages are effective.  You’ll be ready to handle challenges in the field, stand out in the workforce and lead a life full of Christian service.

This concentration emphasizes skills needed to inform your interests and expertise needed to lead justice-related organizations, namely corrections, courts, justice administration, law enforcement, and probation/parole.

If you’re going to be a defender of the law, it’s probably a good idea you study up on ethics. You’ll get plenty of that in this program, taking a look at ethical decision-making by criminal justice workers. You’ll also gain an introduction to a wide variety of other topics, like criminal psychology, as well as public policy and its effect on the American court and criminal justice system. You’ll have an opportunity to understand criminal investigation processes like interviewing, crime scene analysis, and collection of evidence. (Hint: CSI: Miami had it all wrong. Now, COPS, on the other hand …) You’ll study the law as it relates to arrests, searches, and seizures by law enforcement, probation and parole officers, and corrections officials. You’ll even study the rules of evidence and courtroom procedures.
There may not be a bat signal at the end of this program, but you’ll be thoroughly prepared for a career in court administration, security management, custodial and community-based corrections, intelligence operations, or investigations. Or maybe you’ll be more interested in municipal, state, or federal law enforcement. Or maybe state or federal probation and parole. Who knows? You could even use this degree as a good launching point for a bid at law school! Point is, you can expect this program to help you explore the incredibly exciting study of the courts, crime causation, criminal law, public policy, and the justice system.

The CUW Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program is a professional level program, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).

The CAATE accredited Concordia University Wisconsin Master of Science in Athletic Training program will provide students with the professional preparation necessary to succeed as an entry-level athletic trainer.  The program will provide students an educational experience encompassing communication, problem solving, clinical skills, and service.  As a result, students graduating from the program will possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities of a successful clinician, will be prepared to pass the Board of Certification Examination, and will be eligible for appropriate state credentialing.  The Concordia University Wisconsin Master of Science in Athletic Training program will accomplish its mission through a holistic approach to the development of the mind, body, and spirit.

Our program will help you define your fields of interest, sharpen your visual as well as technical skills, and to build a professional portfolio. Concordia’s photography major prepares you for the world ahead with the skills and awareness to pursue your chosen future.

The Photography Major is part of a comprehensive curriculum at Concordia intended to develop your professional skills as well as spiritual and intellectual values. Your classes outside your major at CUW will provide you with a well-rounded bachelor’s degree, and your study of photography will include a chosen minor in perhaps Marketing, Business, English, or Graphic Design to help you build the necessary skills for a successful career in photography. Your major courses will be supplemented by internship opportunities that will give each student professional experiences, and enhance your preparation for the professional world.

A degree in Photography can lead to a variety of careers, including fine art, commercial photography, journalism, editing, education and research, museum and online curation, art direction, marketing, storytelling, and more. We encourage students to develop their own professional techniques and style. You’ll develop a comprehensive understanding of the craft of photography using Concordia’s digital facilities to develop contemporary skills, and darkroom facilities to understand and explore historical processes.

Classes outside your major will consist of the liberal arts core curriculum, your selected minor, and foundational studio art courses. In the Photography Major you will study photographic composition, camera usage, studio and natural lighting, editing, digital technologies, contemporary marketing practices, portfolio development, image presentation, and develop the ability to photograph a wide array of subject matter with personal intent and professional standards.

So if you have a natural curiosity and appreciation for what makes up God’s creation, you might find yourself most in your element pursuing a degree in this field.
The aim of Concordia’s program is to prepare you for a career in the chemical industry or to pursue graduate studies to earn a PhD, an MD, or a PharmD. Expect to be challenged on a regular basis. Our professors have designed a rigorous curriculum to help you advance as a scientist and develop analytic reasoning. CUW’s Chemistry program is approved by the American Chemical Society, an important distinction for any Chemistry program.

A significant portion of your studies will take place in our recently constructed laboratories, with state-of-the-art technology and equipment. Whenever possible, our faculty take a hands-on approach to learning, so you can expect to quickly become comfortable in a lab setting. You’ll gain a thorough foundation in the various areas within chemistry, including organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, and biochemistry. And CUW students aren’t limited to the required courses for developing their skills. If you have a particular area of interest, you have the opportunity to work one-on-one with a faculty member in conducting an undergraduate research project.

The field of public health, “promotes and protects the health of people in the communities where they live, learn, work, and play” (American Public Health Association). It is a very diverse, crosscutting discipline with vast opportunities, in both public and private sectors, at the local, state, and national levels. Through this field of study, you will truly make a difference in people’s lives

This degree offers a Lutheran Christian perspective on public health and prepares you to serve Christ around the world as a globally minded citizen working to protect and promote the public’s health. It is an engaging, multidisciplinary educational program filled with practical application opportunities to prepare you to be a strong, competitive candidate in the public health sector.

In this degree program, you will have the opportunity to personalize your concentration depending on your interest. Regardless of which concentration you choose, all undergraduate students will complete a minimum of 120 credits, including 45 credit hours of general education core curricula, 25 credit hours of required public health coursework, and 3 credit hours of a culminating/capstone project
