Explore the major concepts, theoretical views, empirical findings, and historical trends in political science while studying the foundations of American national, state, and local government. This involves a careful study of liberal democracy (and the competing ideologies), as well as the rights and responsibilities of citizens. Our curriculum emphasizes the importance of living in accord with the values and ethics of the Christian faith; thus, we will examine the relationship between religion and politics in the United States. Ultimately, you will be trained to make a positive impact in the public square be critically analyzing today’s most challenging issues.

In addition to this degree, you can select to do a physical science or biology/environmental science emphasis. physical science allows you to teach upper level courses in chemistry while the biology emphasis allows you to teach upper level biology.

It’s actually a three-part curriculum that starts with a liberal arts core, moves on to lay a solid foundation in general business, and then offers specialized focus in finance. From accounting to economics and statistics, you’ll set the groundwork for a wide array of financial and business management topics. We’re talking the time value of money, interest rates, financial statements, capital allocation, stocks, bonds, derivatives, economic policy, international trade, foreign currency, regulation, and many others.

At the end of this program, you will know the ins and outs of business commerce you can apply all around the world. You will learn all levels of finance such as corporate and international and fundamental financial management and valuation principles. When you join the workforce you’ll be confident in commercial banking, financial markets, and monetary and fiscal policy.

If you welcome a challenge and are passionate about helping others, a career in speech-language pathology or audiology is right for you. Our Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) major is offered by of the Speech-Language Pathology Department at Concordia University Wisconsin. It begins with foundational knowledge of speech, language, hearing, swallowing, normal lifespan development, and leads to hands-on experiences with children and adults with communication disorders. Whether you choose a career in speech-language pathology or audiology, both require a graduate degree to enter clinical practice.
After your introduction to normal speech, language, hearing and swallowing development and disorders, you’ll get hands-on experience through community service learning and clinical observation experiences. As a senior, you may have the opportunity to gain supervised experience in our forthcoming on-campus clinic.

• An understanding of evidence-based prevention, evaluation and intervention practice for speech, language, hearing, communication, and swallowing disorders.

• Professional interaction skills with patients, families, and other health care professionals.
• Ethical and professional behavior in clinical care through service learning and/or clinical services in our forthcoming on-campus Interprofessional Education (IPE) clinic.
• The completion of 25 required hours of clinical observation.

A Bachelor of Science in Justice and Public Policy (JPP) from CUW will help you understand how administrative law, along with procedural, and substantive criminal laws apply to effecting arrest search and seizure, evidence collection, and courtroom procedures. You’ll learn best practices pertaining to field and custodial interviews, criminal investigations, and procedures involving juvenile. If you are considering an advanced degree, an introductory courses in criminal justice research methods and criminal psychology will prepare you to understand sociological, psychological, bio-physiological, and free-will theories, while learning how to apply theory to practice within the American civil and criminal court systems, correctional system, and justice system.

What does all that add up to? It creates a foundation for a career in a wide variety of criminal justice related fields by giving you quality instruction. One hundred percent of all faculty have certifications and/or extensive experience in their respective field. This lends itself to practical and experiential guidance in blending your personal and professional ethical values within a system of justice and public policy.

This program will prepare you with basic knowledge on the path to a successful career in an array of fields including attorney, correctional officer, court administrator, federal special agent, law enforcement officer, paralegal, natural resources warden, probation and parole officer, military career, and security management. It is a foundational degree to complete if you aspire to pursue law school or other public policy-focused graduate work. In short, if your goal is to work in the criminal justice field with practical knowledge and understanding of how your decisions and actions serve the community, this degree is for you.

The Master of Science in Rehabilitations Science (MSRS) is a great option for you, because it allows you to continue broad-based learning at an advanced level. Whether your end goal is a graduate program in the medical sciences; admission to a school of medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, or veterinary science; or enrollment in a professional program such as physician assistant or physical therapy, our bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences will help develop a foundation for your desired future career.

The biomedical sciences major has three tracks you can choose from: Human Biology, Pre-Medical, and Research. Your selection of electives within your chosen track will enable you to further individualize the final program based on your particular career goals. Plus, CUW has outstanding faculty in the biomedical sciences who are willing and able to guide you in your selection and work with you to help you fulfill your vocation. And the support continues outside of the classroom through mentoring programs and networking within student organizations such as the Pre-Med and Pre-Pharmacy Clubs.

What will your time at CUW look like? That, of course, depends on you and your interests, but we can at least give you an outline of the coursework you’ll receive. Your foundational classes will focus on the subjects of human biology, genetics, microbiology, chemistry, physics, and bioethics. Depending on your track choice and electives, you may delve as deeply as you like into anatomy and physiology, molecular genetics, research methods, histology, immunology, and pharmacology.

The aim of Concordia’s program is to prepare you for a career in the chemical industry or to pursue graduate studies to earn a PhD, an MD, or a PharmD. Expect to be challenged on a regular basis. CUW’s Chemistry program is approved by the American Chemical Society, an important distinction for any Chemistry program.

A significant portion of your studies will take place in our recently constructed laboratories, with state-of-the-art technology and equipment. Whenever possible, our faculty take a hands-on approach to learning, so you can expect to quickly become comfortable in a lab setting. You’ll gain a thorough foundation in the various areas within chemistry, including organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, and biochemistry.
