What comes to mind when you think of computer science? In our modern world, there are decreasingly fewer things that don't rely on computers and technology in some shape or form, making computer science one of the most practical and versatile fields of study out there. At Concordia, we define computer science as solving problems using technology. If you can learn to create and manage technology solutions, you can apply your skills to just about any career path.

With five different concentrations available and substantial flexibility in electives, you have the power to customize this degree and make it your own. In this program, you'll receive a well-rounded education through the Concordia Core, as well as a firm foundation of computer science knowledge through our Technology Core. You'll learn the ins and outs of hardware, software, operating systems, databases, coding, and user interfaces. From there, you can branch out into one or more concentrations of computer science, specializing in the areas that are of most interest to you. You can use your electives to earn multiple concentrations, or to explore coursework in any other field at Concordia, broadening your knowledge base.

Why a Bachelor's Degree in Theological Studies? This program gives you options. If you simply want to study God’s Word for the sake of your personal growth, you’ll receive a solid foundation in doctrine. However, there is much more you will benefit from with a theology degree.

God reveals himself through his Word and, to a lesser degree, through his world. This program examines the Bible, God’s revealed Word, in broad introductory overviews of the Holy Scriptures (isagogics) as well as in close reading of a particular biblical book (exegetical studies). This program also studies God’s providence in history. In addition, students receive practical training in the application of their studies in ministry to others.

Through participation in, and upon completion of, the Bachelor of Arts in Theological Studies at Concordia University Wisconsin, students will:

• Have a greater understanding of God’s Word, the Holy Scriptures
• Appreciate the value of sound Christian doctrine based squarely on the Bible
• Develop a heightened awareness of God’s working throughout history
• Grow in their relationship with Christ and put his teachings into practice in their vocations
• Employ various methods of delivering and defending biblical truth in a relevant and practical way to diverse groups
• Demonstrate an understanding of research skills

You can expect to benefit from a well-rounded study of biblical and systematic theology, along with the application of theology in your life within the Christian Church. You’ll be delving into the Old and New Testaments, systematic doctrine, and practical theology (teaching and worship). We offer a lot (seriously, a LOT) of theology electives, so you can explore and grow in the particular areas that interest you.

Study how to create complex hardware and software systems, manage complex computer information systems (IT), and lead a technical team. Now offering two new tracks in Software Engineering and Computer Information Systems. Both of these tracks will build on your existing experience by deepening your skills and knowledge in the main areas of computer science. A bachelor's degree in a related field is recommended, but not required. Optional catch-up modules are available for each course to help bring you up to speed.

Upon completion of the MSCS program, you’ll be trained in problem solving, collaboration, creative design processes, professional literature, writing, presentation, and ethical practices. You’ll be prepared for advanced professional positions in software development and other technical/design-oriented roles in computing.

Our computer science master's program was designed with working professionals in mind. You’ll get a rigorous, quality education that fits within your busy schedule. All courses will be available online in an accelerated eight week format, but three courses per semester will be offered face-to-face on campus.

Information Systems

While software engineering focuses on the development of technology solutions, information systems puts a greater emphasis on the application and management of technology solutions. The specialization courses explore advanced networking, hardware and software system design, integration, and administration in the context of current emerging technologies.

Whether your work in a hospital, a volunteer-based organization, government agencies, lobbying for legislation, university or a church, nonprofit and government organizations require a special skill set to motivate teams, implement new programs and bring a mission to life. You need a wide range of knowledge about public relations, program evaluation, board governance, fundraising and volunteer recruitment. With an MBA in Nonprofit Management and Public Administration, you’ll gain the practical knowledge you need while receiving a holistic, faith-based education.

Our MBA in Nonprofit Management and Public Administration combines the strength of the MBA curriculum with the deeper study of management issues and operations unique to nonprofit organizations and government agencies. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from experts in the field who bring their real-world experience into the classroom. They’ll immerse you in subjects like governance and board development, fundraising and budgeting strategies, volunteer recruitment, public and intergovernmental relations, financial and legal issues, program evaluation and fraud prevention.

The purpose of this program, offered as a major or minor, is to assist you as you discover the gifts and talents God has given you for service. Although you will not train as a missionary, you will be studying how mission work is accomplished around the globe. A key element of this program is recognizing and deliberating on the challenges that arise in the mission field. Along the way, you’ll have opportunities to participate in spring break mission trips, Missions Club, and global trips that will provide you with hands-on experience.

Neither the missions major or minor is a training program. Mission groups (such as LCMS World Mission) train their own missionaries to prepare for the specific areas where they’ll be sent. The goal of our program at Concordia is to help you decide if God is truly calling you to serve as a missionary.

Several of our theology faculty have a great deal of experience in mission work and will mentor you as you explore the possibilities. By the end of the program, you’ll be well-acquainted with the urgent need for missionaries and be prepared to decide if and how you want to serve. You’ll also leave with a better understanding of how to work in cross-cultural settings, how to navigate other religions, and how to handle the challenges that come with missionary work.

In order to meet the diverse needs of congregations, you will gain a wide range of skills through completion of a theology major and two minors. Your first minor, Church Ministries, includes a specialization chosen from six areas of church ministry. These include: Evangelism, Missions, Parish Teaching, Youth Ministry, Christian Service Learning & Leadership, and Social Ministry (for men) or Pre-Deaconess (for women intending to enroll in the deaconess programs at either of the LCMS seminaries). Your second minor is Nonprofit Management. For those of you who really want to specialize in more than one area of church ministry, it’s possible to do so by carefully choosing electives that apply.

While all courses and doctrine are taught in accord with the Lutheran confessions, men and women of any denomination are welcome to join this program. Only members of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod will be certified and may be eligible to be rostered with the LCMS as a “Minister of Religion Commissioned—Director of Church Ministries (DCM).”

Possibly the only thing greater than unlocking your own creativity through music, is helping someone else unlock theirs. That’s precisely what you’ll do with a focus in music education: help your students learn to express their unique individuality, while providing them with a strong sense of how the shared experience of music brings us all together.
As a music education student, you’ll study music theory, composition, conducting, music history, and forms of the medieval, baroque, pre-classical, romantic, and 20th century periods from around the globe. With such a thorough background, you’ll gain the skills and to share this knowledge with your own students.

Learn the ins and outs of all the instruments in an ensemble by becoming a teacher for K-12 band or orchestra. The K-12 Choral Education curriculum teaches many levels of music theory and music history, conducting, and techniques for teaching brass, woodwinds, percussion, and strings. In addition to learning in the classroom, stay active in your instrumental skills by participating in an ensemble of your choice each semester.

Think you have what it takes to start your own business? If you answered yes to that question, you’re probably right! So you fuel your heart, we’ll fuel your mind, and together we’ll form you into somebody who’s ready to trailblaze a path for yourself.
Entrepreneurship is characterized by creativity and innovation, your ability to take risks, to experiment, to adapt, to learn from failure. You must be able to challenge yourself, and to solve problems from multiple perspectives. This major will inspire you to positively engage and serve the culture by creating new avenues for opportunity, vocation, innovation, and social improvement. You’ll learn how to identify certain needs that present themselves in today’s culture, the Church, and the world, then how to respond to those needs in a way that aligns with your Christian values. You’ll learn how to be a servant leader in all your endeavors, and how to build a culture of life, addressing the world’s social and ethical problems.  

Before you take the plunge and dive headfirst into your own upstart, you’ll toe the water with the courses in this program. An important first step for any entrepreneur is to develop and grow a network of individuals, organizations, and professionals. You’ll do that as part of this major. You’ll also develop – and be expected to display – knowledge and skills related to innovation, creativity, problem-solving, perseverance, and adaptability. You’ll ideate and identify emerging markets, trends, problems, and challenges, while learning how to articulate a vision for and commitment to ethical business practice in the education sector.

Technology is a huge benefit to entrepreneurs these days – you can expect to demonstrate competence in leveraging technology in market research and identification. Same goes for adaptability and “pivot-ability.” (You’ll also learn that the world of business is filled with words like pivot-ability.) This program will help you develop a business model, prototype an idea for a business or service, create and develop a business plan, and start or participate in starting a company/new business venture. Because why wait until you graduate to give it a go?

One of the most exciting parts of innovation is the opportunity to drive positive change in new and exciting ways. Our MBA in Innovation and Entrepreneurship will help you to do just that. You’ll learn from faculty with real-world experience and work alongside a diverse student body that will open up new points of view. You’ll also have the chance to receive free business coaching and pitch your own ideas through our CU Launch initiative. Throughout the program, our professors will engage you in topics like venture capital, intellectual property rights, and long-term planning strategy. And because we want to make this program convenient for you, our courses are offered at our main campus, our off-site locations and online. Wherever you are, this program will help you start pursuing the ideas you’re passionate about.

As a graduate of Concordia’s MBA in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, you’ll have a new way of thinking - an entrepreneurial mindset that will help you think outside of the box and approach problem-solving in a creative way. You’ll have the business know-how needed to pitch your ideas, create successful startups, and pursue sustainability. You’ll also leave the program with a certificate in strategic innovation, which will equip you to implement and manage a culture of innovation within your organization.
