The objective of the operations management curriculum is to prepare and stimulate student competence in the conceptual, systematic and analytical tools prerequisite for entry level and advanced positions in goods-producing and service-oriented industries. Emphasis is placed on the systems approach which stresses the concepts, techniques, and policies essential for the economical and effective design, operations and control of manpower, facilities, materials, capital and informational inputs of organizations. Students are introduced to productivity tools such as Total Quality Control, Manufacturing Resource Planning, Just-In-Time Techniques, Simulation and Animation of Production Operations, Optimized Production Techniques, Kanban Systems, Japanese Productivity Techniques, and Decision Support Systems.

The Printmaking program incorporates a number of historical media including etching, lithography, relief printing, monotype, and screen printing while expanding upon emerging photographic and digital processes. Emphasis is placed on both unique/individual images and the multiple.

The Bachelor of Music degree is a high-unit professional degree and requires 132 units for graduation. Music units include the core requirements and one option. Students interested in the BM program must successfully complete an audition for entrance to the program. This should be accomplished prior to entrance to the University. Students wishing to consider the BM program after they have enrolled at CSULB may not apply after they have completed more than a maximum of 96 units.

The aim of the M.A. program is to prepare students to achieve an advanced knowledge of Italian language, literature, history and culture, and of the methods of scholarly research. While a Ph.D. program is the next step in the path of some students, others choose careers in education, international business, arts management, fashion, or any profession with international reach and global interaction. A limited number of Teaching Associate positions are available to qualified candidates after a course in language pedagogy.

Educational administrators serve in many capacities. No matter what position an administrator holds within a TK-12 educational organization, all efforts should be directed at supporting equitable academic opportunity and achievement for all students. The courses in the M.A. in Educational Administration with preliminary administrative services credential program are designed to prepare leaders for this important work. Department of Communication Studies provides students with a liberal arts education in communication arts and sciences with specialized training in communication skills and practices at the baccalaureate and graduate levels. Each student is required to consult with the department undergraduate or graduate advisor as appropriate for advisement.

The Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program prepares individuals for a career as a certified athletic trainer. Athletic trainers (ATs) are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients. The Master of Science in Athletic Training program is open to all college graduates who have met prerequisite requirements and demonstrate sufficient preparation, potential for professional education, and the ability to perform the essential functions needed to practice as an athletic trainer as determined by an athletic training faculty review of admission documents.

The Master of Science in Applied Statistics program trains students to utilize statistical methods to draw valid and meaningful inferences from data. Using a variety of statistical software (SAS, SPSS, Minitab, R), graduates are expected to analyze real-world data appropriately and communicate their findings effectively. The degree is granted to students who complete 30 units of course work and either pass two comprehensive examinations or fulfill the thesis/project requirement. Typically, the degree is obtained in four semesters.
