The Department offers a comprehensive program of courses coupled with appropriate thesis projects leading to the Master of Science in Geology. Within geology, students specialize in any of a number of sub-disciplines including environmental geochemistry, hydrogeology, marine geology, petrology, paleontology, petroleum geology, sedimentology, stratigraphy, structural and field geology, geophysics, and paleoclimatology.

Students may include in their studies courses offered by other departments at CSULB. Interested students are encouraged to contact faculty in their intended areas of study and research.

What Do You Do with a Degree in Religious Studies?

kandinsky KW iAlmost anything! Religious Studies is one of the four best majors to help you score high on the L.S.A.T. (Law School Admissions Test). Our students go on to other advanced degrees, become religious professionals, secondary and higher education teachers, librarians, educational entrepreneurs, managers or aid-workers in NGOs, writers or performance artists, business managers, and the like. William Bao Bean, an American venture capitalist in Asia, tells us that he only supports the ventures of Humanities majors because they have the critical and innovative mindset to be successful.

This program is available to students interested in the manufacturing of computers and the applications and operations aspects of computer hardware and software. Emphasis is placed on specific job skills required of entry level professionals in computer industry, including systems analysis and design, data administration, networking, data communications, data acquisition, oral and written communication, and management principles.

The Bachelor of Science degree is designed for students interested in immediate employment in industry or wishing to continue on to a Master's or Ph.D. degree in physics or a related field.

All students enter CSULB Dance in the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Dance program, providing students with a balanced course of study that prepares them for careers in dance as performers, educators, arts administrators, health and fitness specialists, and/or graduate study in dance while providing opportunities for study in specific areas of personal interest.

The Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering (MSAE) program aims to provide students with advanced training in sub-disciplines of aerospace engineering that combines modern engineering practice and rigorous theoretical framework to enhance students’ pursuit of professional careers and doctoral studies. The Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) option provides the subject matter preparation required to earn a credential for teaching physical education in California public schools.

The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree program in Kinesiology includes two concentrations of K-12 Physical Education Teacher Education and Adapted Physical Education (APE) teacher education. Each of these options is accredited by the California Commission for Teacher Credentialing (CCTC).

Graduates of HCA master’s degree programs will achieve competencies in the areas of (1) communications and relationship management, (2) leadership, (3) professionalism, (4) knowledge of health care environment, and (5) business skills and knowledge. These competencies are the main domains of the model based on the American College of Health Care Executives’ (ACHE) Competency Assessment Tool and Healthcare Leadership Alliance’s (HLA) Competency Directory.

The Program’s curriculum was designed, and has been revised over the years, to provide students with the health care management knowledge and skills necessary to meet the changing needs of the health care industry and to conform to academic accreditation criteria. HCA follows a generalist approach in the design of its program and admits students with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Film and Electronic Arts is an innovative program that emphasizes both theory and practice. Focusing on the integration of moving images, culture, and technology, the curriculum is designed to develop storytelling and production skills while providing a foundational education in the arts and humanities. Media history, theory, and aesthetics are taught as an integral part of production practices.

This program offers two concentrations: Italian Language and Culture and Interdisciplinary Italian Studies. Regular consultation with advisor is highly recommended.

Students are strongly encouraged to study abroad through the CSU International Program in Florence, Italy or semester-long options in Rome and Venice; also highly recommended is a one-month summer study abroad in Recanati, Italy, that offers language and culture studies as well as internship opportunities. Students may find internships at Italian and Italian-American institutions in the Long Beach area.

Once students have met the first- and second-year general language requirements, in the third year they take a common set of core courses in the target language. In the fourth year they choose between the two concentrations. Students intending to earn the teaching credential select Concentration I: Italian Language and Culture; students interested in a more interdisciplinary approach select Concentration II: Interdisciplinary Italian Studies. Both tracks share a common core.
