The MSCE Environmental Engineering / Water Resources Engineering specialization requires completion of 30 units of graduate courses, as specified below.  Each student's program must satisfy all requirements of the university, college, and department, and contain the equivalent of 10 or more units of design, as determined by the department's graduate coordinator. During the first two weeks of the first semester as a graduate student at CSULB, the student should make an appointment to meet with the graduate coordinator, who will assign him/her to one of the environmental and water resources engineering area faculty.

The Master of Arts in Spanish from California State University, Long Beach opens doors for teachers, journalists, translators, writers, and other professionals seeking to demonstrate advanced knowledge of Spanish and Spanish-speaking cultures. The Bachelor of Arts degree is appropriate for those preparing for teaching careers in the physical sciences at the secondary level, as well as those whose goal is a liberal art education with an emphasis on physics, or engineers interested in a double major.

The MSCE Transportation Engineering/ Geotechnical Engineering specialization requires completion of 30 units of graduate courses, as specified below. The Drawing and Painting program encourages a strong foundation in the traditions of life drawing and offers focuses on both figurative and non-figurative approaches to the medium. Courses are designed to contextualize the fundamentals, introduce critical thinking, and foster independence.

This option is designed for students who wish to become secondary school biology teachers. This option requires 81-88 units in the major, of which 47-49 are lower division and 34-39 are upper division. Prospective students should consult the Single Subject Science Education Advisor in the Department of Science Education early to plan their program.

The M.S. in Science Education is designed primarily for credentialed K-12 teachers interested in deepening their understanding of science, education, and the teaching and learning of science. The program includes a blend of courses from the Science Education department, the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and the College of Education. The program introduces candidates to Science Education as a field of study, with its own journals, issues, and research areas.

The option in Secondary Science Education is designed for teachers who are 7-12 science discipline specialists.

The Art Education degree fulfills the subject matter competency required by the State of California to teach Art in public schools.

Students interested in teaching in public schools must earn a California Teaching Credential (Single or Multiple Subject). The credential is earned after you have received your undergraduate degree.

The Art Education program develops the skills needed in making art, talking about art, and planning art learning experiences. The art education classes use a multi-faceted approach that integrates the four visual art disciplines of art production, art criticism, art history, and philosophical aesthetics. They also promote a cross-cultural exposure to art and examine the influences among artists from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds as well as the inclusion of both men and women artists. Although the studio and art history classes prepare the university students in the content and skills of art, the art education classes bring these aspects together in a model that provides approaches on how to educate young people in the schools.

Child Development and Family Studies (CDFS) strives to improve the lives of children and families. As an integrative and interdisciplinary specialization, CDFS incorporates information from a variety of disciplines to provide a comprehensive academic and professional background for working with children and families. We use primary prevention to empower individuals and families in home and community settings.

Exercise science centers on the effects of training and physical activity on the human body. Students will study the physiology, biomechanics, and motor control of exercise and how training can improve human function including health, disease, and performance. This option prepares students for careers in human movement and allied health fields as well as those interested in graduate work in these areas or those pursuing training in medicine and other healthcare professions.
