Typical tasks and responsibilities undertaken by students in the curriculum for this program would not fall within one of the traditional specialties in engineering, e.g. aerospace, chemical, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering, or computer science and engineering. This degree is also designed to provide a strong foundation for graduate school, including the three Master’s degree programs offered in the department.

The Master of Science in Supply Chain Management program is designed to provide its students with advanced and highly demanded training in modern supply chain management practices, analysis methods, technology applications, strategy development, and other relevant skills that will advance their career prospects and prepare them for lifelong learning in a global supply chain environment. The rigorous curriculum will equip its graduates with advanced knowledge and skills needed to identify, analyze, and resolve complex supply chain challenges faced by globalscale businesses. This is accomplished through a unique combination of quantitative, technical, operational, strategic, and behavioral preparation.

Fast Track Master of Science in Supply Chain Management

The Fast Track Master of Science in Supply Chain Management (MSSCM) program is available to promising students seeking a career in supply chain management. CSULB undergraduate supply chain management students may apply to the Fast Track MSSCM program as undergraduates. Students are eligible for the Fast Track MSSCM if they maintain a 3.0 Overall and Upper Division Major GPA. Students deemed eligible for the Fast Track MSSCM program may waive the GMAT/GRE test and additional application requirement. Please inquire with the Graduate Business Office for more information.

Program planners for each option are available on the Department website or in the Department office. Students should consult with Department faculty advisors when choosing a program in English and regularly as they progress towards their degrees.

The Department of English can refer students to one of the coordinating faculty advisors. Regular office hours for all English faculty are posted near the Department office, and information sheets are available detailing which faculty members regularly advise for specific options.

ENGL 100B, a general education foundation course, is not part of any English option. Some options permit or require courses from other departments; if approved by a faculty advisor, options may also include other courses outside English. Because some courses meet requirements in several options, students can often change options with no significant loss of credit towards the required total; students also regularly double major in two options in English.

The mission of the graduate program in Computer engineering and Computer Science at CSULB is to provide a high-quality educational experience and the technical specialization required to become successful leaders in industry. The program also prepares the students to pursue advanced degrees if they so desire. The graduate program involves advanced courses in analysis and design in computer software and hardware. The students may choose to do a thesis or take a comprehensive examination as the culmination of their program.

The Master of Science in Chemical Engineering degree program at CSULB requires completion of 30 units of graduate courses, as specified below. Each student must satisfy all the requirements of the University, College, and Department. The MSChE program aims at educating and training multidisciplinary professionals in order to provide them with the needed expertise for advanced technical activities in Chemical Engineering and any relevant areas of engineering and sciences.

This option is available in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. It was introduced in response to a certification process developed by the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR). NCFR is the leading national organization for professionals concerned with promoting and enhancing the quality of family life. NCFR sponsors the only national program to certify family life educators.

Reflecting our college’s philosophy, the French and Francophone Studies Program is designed to develop cross-cultural awareness and to foster international understanding in a global world, an imperative need for our student body which is increasingly multi-lingual and multi-national, and comes from a variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. Additionally, a double major or a minor in French enhances any other degree program, making the student doubly marketable upon graduation. They pursue professions in teaching, business, travel, and diplomacy, to name only a few, continue their studies within our own M.A. program or pursue doctoral programs at Ph.D. granting institutions.

The Master of Science in Emergency Services Administration degree program at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) is fully online, and prepares graduates for organizational leadership and senior-level positions across the emergency services sector. The program's high-quality, wide-ranging courses engage students in theory and research that inform the management of disaster risk. Program coursework culminates in projects or theses that directly strengthen students’ organizations and communities.
