Asian Studies is an interdisciplinary program that offers three concentrations: Asia Area Studies; Asia and Business; Asia and Globalization. All of these concentrations share a common core. Beyond the common core requirements, students select elective courses from one of the three concentrations to complete their 39 unit requirement for the major. Regular consultation with an advisor is highly recommended. Because of the importance of statistics to this discipline, students are advised to include STAT 108 among their GE courses. A “C” grade in all required and elective classes in the major is required for continuation of the program. It is also suggested that students take AST 320 or AST 336 for their required Upper Division WI Capstone course. The Accelerated Full-time MBA (AMBA) program integrates Entrepreneurship and Innovation throughout the curriculum. It prepares you with the quantitative, analytical and creative skills that you need to start your career as an Entrepreneur (innovating by starting your business) and an Intrapreneur (innovating within an established company).

The Master of Public Health in Community Health provides an opportunity for students: to specialize in global health or latino health within the general context of Public Health; to increase competence in designing, implementing, and evaluating social behavior changes programs in preparation for serving in various health agencies; prepare for teaching at college and university levels; and for administrative positions in public and private health agencies.

The Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) option provides the subject matter preparation required to earn a credential for teaching physical education in California public schools.

The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree program in Kinesiology includes two concentrations of K-12 Physical Education Teacher Education and Adapted Physical Education (APE) teacher education. Each of these options is accredited by the California Commission for Teacher Credentialing (CCTC).

The BA in Dance, Option in Dance Science, offers a course of study combining dance with specific kinesiology and science courses for students interested in teaching careers in dance, dance medicine, careers in dance fitness, or graduate education in the areas of dance science or related dance studies. Students interested in the BA in Dance, Option in Dance Science should meet with Program Coordinator Brooke Winder no later than the start of their 2nd year (earlier for transfer students). Additionally, students must pass BIOL 207 , BIOL 208 , and DANC 260 with a minimum GPA of 2.25 to satisfy the major specific declaration requirements. The Bachelor of Music degree is a high-unit professional degree and requires 132 units for graduation. Music units include the core requirements and one option. Students interested in the BM program must successfully complete an audition for entrance to the program. This should be accomplished prior to entrance to the University. Students wishing to consider the BM program after they have enrolled at CSULB may not apply after they have completed more than a maximum of 96 units.

Classics comprises the study of the ancient Greek and Roman languages, classical archaeology, literatures, and civilizations, as well as the peoples with whom they interacted. The Department of Classics provides a Bachelor of Arts in Classics as well as minors in Latin, Greek, and Classical Studies. Roman and Greek civilizations are the two options available for the Classics major.

The Master of Science in Chemical Engineering degree program at CSULB requires completion of 30 units of graduate courses, as specified below. Each student must satisfy all the requirements of the University, College, and Department. The MSChE program aims at educating and training multidisciplinary professionals in order to provide them with the needed expertise for advanced technical activities in Chemical Engineering and any relevant areas of engineering and sciences.

The Department of Journalism & Public Relations offers undergraduate programs that prepare students for careers in journalism, public relations and other media, editorial and storytelling related industries. Students take courses that provide both a strong theoretical foundation and real-life, hands-on training in the skills they need to pursue careers in mass communications. Journalism graduates become reporters, editors, bloggers, broadcasters, designers and managers at media organizations and are trained in multimedia storytelling and communicating across multiple platforms, including newspapers, magazines, online media, social media, radio, and television.

A non-performance-focused degree that sets music within the broader context of interdisciplinary studies, diversity, and contemporary thought. This degree has a basic music core, upper-division elective music units focused on popular, world, and film music as well as art music, an individualized track of non-music elective studies that focuses in at least two other disciplines (one major area and one or more minor areas), and a final research project culminating in a comprehensive senior paper/project that sets music within a context of historical, cultural, theoretical, or interdisciplinary studies, diversity issues, and contemporary thought. The project draws on an outside discipline from the student’s coursework in Interdisciplinary and Cultural Studies.

An audition is required prior to admission to assess performance standard. All applicants to the program must meet with the BA advisor prior to, or at the beginning of, the first semester of residence to review the statement of purpose and to draw up an individualized study plan.
