The political science major is designed to help students learn to think seriously and carefully about politics while preparing them for a wide variety of careers. The program provides a solid foundation in the traditional concerns of the discipline as well as broad exposure to the various things that impinge upon and are affected by the political world. Studying these issues will also enhance your skills in analytical-critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and oral, written, and electronic communication. The Accelerated Full-time MBA (AMBA) program integrates Entrepreneurship and Innovation throughout the curriculum. It prepares you with the quantitative, analytical and creative skills that you need to start your career as an Entrepreneur (innovating by starting your business) and an Intrapreneur (innovating within an established company).

The Master of Science in Mathematics program trains students in mathematical concepts independent of application outside mathematics. The degree is granted to students who complete 30 units of course work and either pass two comprehensive examinations or fulfill the thesis/project requirement.

The program prepares graduates for leadership roles in educational institutions and other agencies; it provides training in instructional design, multimedia development and management, and e-learning, and it builds a foundation for individuals planning to pursue doctoral degrees.

The Master of Science in Mathematics with option in Applied Mathematics program trains students in applied math methods with strong emphasis on computational skills. The degree is granted to students who complete 30 units of course work and either pass two comprehensive examinations or fulfill the thesis/project requirement. Typically, the degree is obtained in five semesters.

Nutrition is a potent modulator of the acute responses and chronic adaptations to exercise and training. The Master’s Program in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition allows students to study the interaction between nutrition and the physiology of exercise. Graduates will understand how to meet the nutritional needs of exercise, training, and conditioning to enhance human health, function, and performance as well as the underlying mechanisms at the molecular level to the whole body. The Physiology of Exercise and Sport (PEXS) Laboratory is operated by active researchers in the field and is equipped for gene and biochemical analysis as well as whole-body metabolics and athletic performance. From athletic performance to community nutrition, this degree prepares students to work with a wide variety of populations in a number of different settings using research-based curriculum, practical experiences, and original research. The Master’s Program in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition also equips students for advanced graduate work including doctoral degrees and clinical and medical training.

This program is designed both for students who wish to pursue further graduate study and those seeking a terminal degree. The program seeks to blend theoretical and applied aspects of linguistics and draws from a variety of disciplines.

The Special Concentration Option allows a student to plan an individualized course of study around a special interest. Recent students have designed special concentrations in Psycholinguistics, Computational Linguistics, teaching Spanish, teaching Japanese, and teaching Chinese.

When resources are scarce, difficult choices must be made on how resources are to be divided among competing uses. Economics is a social science that addresses the efficient allocation of scarce resources.

The Sport and Exercise Psychology Master of Science program is designed to prepare students for careers in sport and exercise psychology, in particular as athletic performance enhancement specialists and/or as researchers and teachers in academic settings. The Sport and Exercise Psychology Master of Science program consists of 36 units. Students are required to take core classes, elective courses, and have the option to complete a thesis or comprehensive exam/capstone. Courses are designed to facilitate those seeking AASP certification and applied opportunities are available for students to accumulate mentored experience hours.

Graphic Design incorporates a broad approach to the transmission of ideas, information, and subjective impressions through the use of print, film, video, and computer media. The program prepares students for professional careers in design studios, advertising agencies, corporate design departments, motion graphics firms, web design companies, and free-lance consulting.
