The SPU physics curriculum provides you with the practice and analytical tools necessary to solve complex problems. At graduation, as a physics student, you are prepared to apply your skills to research, design, or consulting in physics and physics-related fields. The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science Psychology majors are rigorous yet flexible programs designed to meet the American Psychological Association Guidelines for the Undergraduate Psychology major while also fulfilling SPU’s mission to provide students with a transformative and holistic experience grounded in Christian faith.

Psychology (BS)

The BS in Psychology is designed for students with a broad range of career and graduate school interests such as, but not limited to, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, marriage and family therapy, social work, school counseling, and industrial and organizational psychology.

Community Psychology and Behavioral Mental Health: Focuses on social justice, community development, and social services for students wanting to pursue further training or work in social work, nonprofit, community development, social justice, public health, community behavioral health.

When you major in Exercise Science at SPU, you build a strong foundation to serve in a variety of fields in which you can promote healthy lifestyles for people of all ages. The BA in in Human Development and Family Studies offers an interdisciplinary approach to individual and family development across the lifespan, providing opportunities for you to study how people develop physically, cognitively, emotionally and socially within the context of the family and society.

As a graduate, you will be prepared to work with people in a variety of roles, including social and family services, teaching and education, advocacy and non-profit work, and business and health related careers.

When you major in Health and Fitness Education at SPU, you build a strong foundation in the application and pedagogy of human movement science. In this major, which emphasizes information delivery and includes instructional methods, your courses include “Human Anatomy and Physiology,” “Motor Learning and Development,” “Biomechanics,” “Sport Injury Management,” and “Exercise Physiology,” in addition to classes in teaching methods. The interdisciplinary Politics, Philosophy, & Economics (PPE) major is a unique program which prepares students for leadership in many areas of public service and private enterprise.

Politics, Philosophy, & Economics (PPE) Major

PPE is a rigorous, interdisciplinary program that combines studies in political science, philosophy, and economics.  Modeled after a program at Oxford University, PPE core classes study human values, cultural institutions, and economics in order to develop multiperspectival solutions to pressing social problems. PPE students will also choose an area of emphasis from the following tracks: Applied Economics, Financial Economics, International Affairs, Law, Philosophy, Public Administration, and Social Enterprise.

Pursuing the Financial Economics track provides you with vital skills and knowledge in financial accounting, business finance, and investments.

SPU’s BS (bachelor of science) in Computer Science gives you a well-rounded blend of scientific, quantitative, computing, and engineering foundations to prepare you for a career or for graduate studies.

A Bachelor of Art in Art will provide students with an opportunity to express themselves using a variety of creative disciplines and methods within the visual arts and prepare them for such fields as museum studies, gallery management, curator, teaching, studio artist, graphic design, product design, art therapy, graduated studies in a variety of related fields, fashion, and marketing.
