Food and Nutritional Sciences General Emphasis
The Food and Nutritional Science emphasis provides a broad background for those students interested in food and nutrition, but who are not seeking the registered dietitian (RD) credential.

Students with this degree may work in clinical, research, public health, or food service settings. The degree also provides an interesting background for those interested in nursing, dental hygiene, the allied health professions such as occupational therapy and physical therapy, culinary programs, and food science.

The interdisciplinary Politics, Philosophy, & Economics (PPE) major is a unique program which prepares students for leadership in many areas of public service and private enterprise.

About the Politics, Philosophy, & Economics (PPE) Major

PPE is a rigorous, interdisciplinary program that combines studies in political science, philosophy, and economics.  Modeled after a program at Oxford University, PPE core classes study human values, cultural institutions, and economics in order to develop multiperspectival solutions to pressing social problems. PPE students will also choose an area of emphasis from the following tracks: Applied Economics, Financial Economics, International Affairs, Law, Philosophy, Public Administration, and Social Enterprise.

The Social Enterprise track will help you develop tangible skills and imperative knowledge in microfinance, the management of non-profits, and macro development. You will also gain social enterprise experience by participating in our annual Social Venture Plan Competition.

The Business Administration major at SPU provides a well-rounded foundation for business. It is a broad-based program in the fundamental theories, principles, and practices of modern business. This program has attained AACSB accreditation, which is the highest level of international certification for business schools.

Deeply grounded in Christian faith and values, we believe that the purpose of business is to serve and to advance human flourishing. The Business Administration major teaches standards of professional and ethical behaviors, and develops the leadership attributes necessary for success.

As part of the Business Administration major, students also gain vital industry experience by participating in our SBGE internship program. Our students have held internships at leading local businesses and companies such as Starbucks, Boeing, Microsoft, the Seattle Mariners, and Merrill Lynch.

An Economics concentration will help prepare you for a career in analyzing public policy or forecasting economic conditions.

Are you a musician with a desire to help people cultivate their physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual well-being through music? The Music Therapy Program — the first and only Music Therapy program in Washington state — offers many opportunities for musicians to use their skills and aptitude to serve others through the functional use of music.

The program is designed for you to develop entry-level competencies required as a professional music therapist, prepare you for a six-month clinical internship, and, ultimately, pass the national board certification exam to earn your Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) designation.

Our goal is to provide you with a personalized education of classroom and practical clinical experiences that will allow the music therapist within you to develop to meet professional standards. In this shared journey, you will become increasingly aware of who you are as a musician and how your music can affect the spiritual, mental, physical and psychological well-being of others.

The BS in Information Systems is designed to provide you with a strong foundation in both the technical and organizational aspects of information systems. Graduates are well-prepared to help both for-profit and nonprofit organizations define and achieve their technology goals.

As a Cellular and Molecular Biology major at SPU, you can expect to study molecular structures and processes of cellular life and their roles in the function, reproduction, and development of living organisms.
