Mechanical engineers apply hands-on physics to model, analyse, and design mechanical and energy systems such as automobiles, aircraft, ships, heating and cooling systems, prosthetics, robots, household appliances, or industrial equipment and machinery.

What’s different? You'll get individual attention from your professors in rigorous, small classes. This degree can be completed in four years at SPU. You'll learn to think critically and solve quandaries through multiple, extended hands-on projects.

Accredited? We are pursuing accreditation through the ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission for the Mechanical Engineering major like we have already achieved for our other engineering majors.

This major leads to a bachelor of science degree.

The degree requirements are identical to the General Engineering/Mechanical Engineering concentration.

Through the applied, experiential, and collaborative-based MBA curriculum at Seattle Pacific’s School of Business, Government, and Economics, students gain purpose-driven, cross-functional leadership skills in business, government, and civil society, and discover how business principles and ethical practice unite to lay a foundation for business as service to others.

An MBA from Seattle Pacific integrates business competence and Christian character, enabling students to think and act strategically, apply in-depth knowledge, communicate effectively, work in teams, and provide values-based leadership from a general-management perspective.

As an Illustration major, students are trained in a variety of digital and traditional mediums, with an emphasis on building strong practical skills that can be applied in diverse ways. 

After mastering the foundation level curriculum including painting and figure drawing, students may choose to create coursework that emphasizes Illustration for Publishing, Illustration for Entertainment Design, Illustration for Surface Design, Motion design and Illustrative Fine Art.

When you receive a bachelor of science in Ecology at SPU, you will be ready to work in ecology or biological subdisciplines such as marine biology, forestry, fisheries, agriculture, behavioral ecology, and wildlife management. This major prepares you for graduate studies or a professional ecology/biology career.

About the Ecology Major

As an Ecology major, you will focus on principles that enhance environmental quality and make efficient use of nonrenewable resources. You will also learn to apply this knowledge to help address agricultural and environmental challenges.

 A bachelor of arts degree in Biology from SPU provides a broad foundation if you want to combine another area of study — such as education, environmental studies, law, or science writing — with a solid scientific background.

Biology Major
As a Bachelor of Arts in Biology major, you can expect to study a wide array of scientific subjects — from the inheritance of traits and evolutionary mechanisms to animal physiology and plant identification — all within a framework of ethics, vocation, and faith.

Are you a musician with a desire to help people cultivate their physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual well-being through music? The Music Therapy Program — the first and only Music Therapy program in Washington state — offers many opportunities for musicians to use their skills and aptitude to serve others through the functional use of music.

The program is designed for you to develop entry-level competencies required as a professional music therapist, prepare you for a six-month clinical internship, and, ultimately, pass the national board certification exam to earn your Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) designation.

Our goal is to provide you with a personalized education of classroom and practical clinical experiences that will allow the music therapist within you to develop to meet professional standards. In this shared journey, you will become increasingly aware of who you are as a musician and how your music can affect the spiritual, mental, physical and psychological well-being of others.

SPU’s BA (bachelor of arts) in Computer Science emphasizes problem-solving, organizing and synthesizing ideas, and applying computing theory. It’s an especially good choice if you’re going to double major, or minor in another field. With this degree you’ll be well prepared for projects that apply computing to other disciplines.

In this program you’ll cover the field’s major topics in 15 Computer Science courses, along with applied calculus, computer math, and statistics. In a senior project you’ll apply computer-based problem-solving techniques to an area of interest.

With a degree in Electrical Engineering, you’ll prepare for a wide set of rewarding career options in a dynamic field. Some of the projects you’ll work on may not even be invented, yet!

Electrical engineers design and develop things such as new energy systems, biomedical equipment, computing technologies, telecommunications, transportation, entertainment, and many more systems related to electricity, electronics, or electromagnetism.

The MA-THEO: Christian Scripture concentration is designed to deepen your understanding and appropriation of the Bible as the church’s Scripture — originating with God’s people living in particular times and places, but authoritative for us as God’s people in all times and places. Consequently, in addition to encountering the biblical texts as texts, you will study them within the context of the Church’s larger canonical context: its foundational theology, ethics, and history of interpretation.

The BA in in Human Development and Family Studies offers an interdisciplinary approach to individual and family development across the lifespan, providing opportunities for you to study how people develop physically, cognitively, emotionally and socially within the context of the family and society.

It is a versatile undergraduate degree for anyone who is intrigued by human nature and the forces that help shape it. As a graduate, you will be prepared to work with people in a variety of roles, including social and family services, teaching and education, advocacy and non-profit work, and business and health related careers.
