For the modern business enterprise, utilizing information effectively is key to creating a competitive advantage. An MS in Information Systems from Seattle Pacific bridges the gap between business and technology, preparing students for leadership at the intersection of technology and business. With the STEM designated MS-IS program, leaders are developed with the management, technology, and problem-solving skills they need to handle complex, globally integrated systems.

Through the applied, experiential, and collaborative-based curriculum at Seattle Pacific’s School of Business, Government, and Economics, students gain purpose-driven leadership skills. They also discover how IT, business principles, and ethical practice untie to lay a foundation to complex, globally integrated systems and service to others as an IT security professional, data analyst, project manager, information manager, or CIO.

The Business Administration major in the School of Business, Government, and Economics at SPU allows you to develop essential business skills in a uniquely Christian environment that emphasizes values, ethics, and an understanding of business as a means to serve.

The Business Administration major provides you with a broad-based education in the fundamental theories, principles, and practices of modern business. You will learn standards of professional and ethical behavior, along with the technical expertise and leadership attributes necessary to attain a variety of positions in business.

As part of the Business Administration major, students also gain vital industry experience by participating in our SBGE internship program. Our students have held internships at leading local businesses and companies such as Starbucks, Boeing, Microsoft, the Seattle Mariners, and Merrill Lynch.

The Public Policy & Business concentration focuses on coursework in Political Science and Economics to help prepare you to work at the intersection of commerce and government.

If you want to become an elementary or secondary school principal, this program is for you. The degree prepares students for principal certification. To be eligible for entry into the MEd in Educational Leadership with the intention of earning a Principal Certificate, you must be a certificated teacher or certificated Educational Staff Associate (ESA) with a minimum of one year of successful teaching or related experience. The MEd in Educational Leadership also prepares individuals who want to earn a Program Administrator Certificate in order to serve as an administrator in a school district central office, resource centre, or other administrative centre. If this is your goal, you are not required to hold a teaching or ESA certificate for entry into the program, but you must have at least one year of successful experience in a P–12 school system at the building or district level. This 45-credit program offers current research and best practices to help principals and program administrators interact with students, teachers, parents and their communities.

The interdisciplinary Politics, Philosophy, & Economics (PPE) major is a unique program which prepares students for leadership in many areas of public service and private enterprise.

About the Politics, Philosophy, & Economics (PPE) Major

PPE is a rigorous, interdisciplinary program that combines studies in political science, philosophy, and economics.  Modeled after a program at Oxford University, PPE core classes study human values, cultural institutions, and economics in order to develop multiperspectival solutions to pressing social problems. PPE students will also choose an area of emphasis from the following tracks: Applied Economics, Financial Economics, International Affairs, Law, Philosophy, Public Administration, and Social Enterprise.

The Social Enterprise track will help you develop tangible skills and imperative knowledge in microfinance, the management of non-profits, and macro development. You will also gain social enterprise experience by participating in our annual Social Venture Plan Competition.

The Integrated Studies major enables you to develop a breadth of knowledge across six content areas you will teach in elementary school: the arts, health and fitness, language arts, mathematics, natural sciences, and social sciences. These are the six content disciplines of Washington state’s Endorsement Competencies for Elementary Education K–8.

If you want to be certified with an endorsement in Elementary Education, you will complete the requirements for (1) a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Studies and (2) the Residency Teacher Certification Program in the School of Education. You can complete all of these requirements in four years. Admission to the Major

 A bachelor of arts degree in Biology from SPU provides a broad foundation if you want to combine another area of study — such as education, environmental studies, law, or science writing — with a solid scientific background.

Biology Major
As a Bachelor of Arts in Biology major, you can expect to study a wide array of scientific subjects — from the inheritance of traits and evolutionary mechanisms to animal physiology and plant identification — all within a framework of ethics, vocation, and faith.

The Business Administration major at SPU provides a well-rounded foundation for business. It is a broad-based program in the fundamental theories, principles, and practices of modern business. This program has attained AACSB accreditation, which is the highest level of international certification for business schools.

Deeply grounded in Christian faith and values, we believe that the purpose of business is to serve and to advance human flourishing. The Business Administration major teaches standards of professional and ethical behaviors, and develops the leadership attributes necessary for success.

An Economics concentration will help prepare you for a career in analyzing public policy or forecasting economic conditions.

The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science Psychology majors are rigorous yet flexible programs designed to meet the American Psychological Association Guidelines for the Undergraduate Psychology major while also fulfilling SPU’s mission to provide students with a transformative and holistic experience grounded in Christian faith.

As such, these programs prepare you with extensive knowledge of the field; scientific and critical thinking skills; an awareness of diversity, ethics in practice, and social responsibility; effective oral and written communication skills; and professional-level training and experiences (e.g., research and internship opportunities) for both careers and graduate school in psychology.

Psychology (BA)

The BA in Psychology is designed for students with a broad range of career and graduate school interests such as, but not limited to, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, marriage and family therapy, social work, school counseling, and industrial and organizational psychology.

Psychological Science: This track is designed for students with a broad range of career and graduate school interests such as, but not limited to clinical psychology, counseling psychology, marriage and family therapy, social work, school counseling, and industrial and organizational psychology. This track has the fewest credits required (minimum of 62 credits, 36 upper-division, and at least 20 credits while in residence at SPU). As such, it provides students with the most flexibility in taking additional courses in psychology or other disciplines, as well as maximizing research or internship experiences.

The goal of the Photography/Digital Media program is to graduate competent lens-based artists with a broad range of media skills. You will be prepared for advanced study in studio art or film and learn tools for building an entrepreneurial photographic practice or another career trajectory.

Both the master’s and doctoral programs are designed with a focus on the science and rigor associated with quality degrees in this field along with an equal emphasis on the practice of industrial-organizational psychology.
