The Tandy School of Computer Science and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Tulsa jointly offer programs leading to the Master of Science degree in Engineering, Master of Engineering, and Ph.D. degree in computer engineering.
After completion of core doctoral credits, students are allowed to pursue research and course work that emphasizes either the computer science or electrical engineering aspect of this joint degree. Alumni serve as faculty in academia and also enjoy successful careers in industry and government.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

Master of Arts in Industrial - Organizational Psychology (STEM)
Industrial-Organizational psychology focuses on mastering key knowledge and skills needed to help organizations succeed, and the doctoral program expands those skills, targeting creation and dissemination of new knowledge in the field of I-O Psychology through scientific research. The program is designed for those seeking to develop the applied skills necessary for basic consulting projects in business and government. Graduates of our master’s program typically find jobs involving analysis of jobs and people as a basis for improving the fit between them.
We emphasize that the best foundation for good practice is good science. Our curriculum offers a balance of I/O content, methods and applications in a culture stressing professionalism, respect for individual differences, and the importance of evidence-based practice. Our students learn to think critically and to communicate clearly in solving real-world problems in work settings.
Courses are offered in a broad array, including but not limited to job analysis, employee selection, training, leadership, work motivation, organizational development and a variety of methods topics, such as psychological measurement and statistics.

Master of Engineering in Petroleum Engineering - Non-Thesis Option (STEM)
Petroleum engineering focuses on the development, exploration, drilling, production and management of oil and natural gas resources and other minerals. Based on the solid fundamentals of math, physics and chemistry, a petroleum engineering degree includes education in geology and a proper blend of fluid and solid mechanics. Internationally recognized as having one of the top petroleum engineering graduate programs in the country, the McDougall School of Petroleum Engineering has more than 500 students.
Petroleum engineers plan and supervise drilling operations and evaluate and manage oil and natural gas reservoirs. They are qualified to work at an oil company, establish a consulting business or become an independent oil producer. Opportunities exist for travel and work overseas.
While teaching is the major goal, the McDougall School of Petroleum Engineering is also committed to discovery of new concepts and technologies in drilling, production and reservoir engineering. The program offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees.
Graduate students learn advanced petroleum production concepts and collaborate on multi-disciplinary research projects to continue the development of their petroleum engineering skill set and professional careers.
The school’s strong research program is supported by industry and government sources. Undergraduate and graduate students work alongside faculty at key research locations on the main campus and TU’s historic North Campus. Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology
The program in speech-language pathology takes two years of full time study; specifically, year one includes the fall, spring and the summer semesters, and year two includes the fall and spring semesters. The curriculum covers the knowledge and skills outlined by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) required for certification as a speech-language pathologist, licensure from the Oklahoma Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, and certification for working in the public schools. Additionally, successful graduates are prepared to apply for doctoral study in speech-language pathology and to assume leadership positions in professional organizations.

Master of Arts in English Language and Literature
Graduate study in English Language and Literature at The University of Tulsa is nationally recognized and well subscribed. Students train as teachers, scholars, writers, to advance in existing careers and to become professors and research writers in specific literary fields.
Students work closely with graduate faculty in small seminars that average eight students, in one-on-one independent and directed readings, and in workshops on writing and teaching. There are no required courses or courses of study. Instead, students choose from among the seminars offered each semester according to their individual interests and particular professional needs. Special interest tutorials often supplement graduate seminars. M.A. and Ph.D. students are encouraged to work in the full range of subjects defined by our faculty’s expertise and by our internationally renowned archival holdings of manuscripts and books in McFarlin Library.

Master of Engineering in Chemical Engineering - Non-Thesis Option (STEM)
The Russell School of Chemical Engineering, a small, yet comprehensive department, has offered a master’s degree program since 1939 and a doctoral degree program since 1966. The school has established a strong tradition in the petroleum, natural gas, and environmental fields, and offers research opportunities in materials engineering, biochemical engineering, advanced modeling and simulation, alternative energy, surface science, and catalysis.
Our current research focuses on modern experimental approaches and state-of-the-art computational studies, allowing for investigation of fundamental phenomena as applied to “real-world” problems and thereby enhancing our interactions with industry. Our computational studies address a wide range of complex problems in multiple time and length scales, ranging from multiphase flow models to complete energy supply chains, which help catalyze solutions to complex societal challenges. Chemical engineering graduate studies offer a dynamic environment for challenging, stimulating research and provide close interaction between faculty and students due to our small size.

Master of Science in Biological Science - Thesis Option (STEM)
Biology is a rapidly changing science that incorporates molecular and cellular biology; behavioral and molecular ecology; developmental biology; organismal, ecological and evolutionary genetics; microbiology; aerobiology; molecular systematics; and neuroscience. Flexible degree requirements lead to careers in biology, health fields and professional or graduate school.
Students work directly with faculty in a specified area of research and plan a program of courses and overall research goals in consultation with their supervising professor. We prepare these graduate students for careers in education, industry and government, or for continued graduate studies. A wide range of research opportunities are available to graduate students including basic studies in bioinformatics, cellular and molecular biology, developmental biology, ecology, genetics, microbiology, molecular systematics, neuroscience, virology and other areas. In addition to laboratory based studies, research opportunities are available at field sites in northeast Oklahoma and field stations in other locations. An in-depth understanding of one area of specialization is achieved through elective courses, independent study and dissertation research.

Master of Arts in Anthropology - Thesis Option
A wide range of theoretical approaches using various methodologies derived from evolutionary and ecological theory and empirical methodology are used in the graduate level curriculum. Specific areas of emphasis include anthropogenic effects on the environment, modeling human-environmental interactions and body/mind connections in contemporary health and religious practices.
The Master of Arts program has an established reputation, as evidenced by a high rate of placement of its graduates. Extensive collections, research opportunities and internships are also available with Gilcrease Museum. Over 75 percent of those who have earned a degree currently hold anthropological or archaeological positions. The rapidly growing doctoral program in archaeology, established in 2012, provides thorough training in both theoretical and applied aspects of the field.
The program builds a foundation for the application of anthropological theory and method to a variety of real world problems and ensures that all students learn strong basic research skills. We offer state-of-the-art labs, which allow us to combine experimental archaeological analyses with extensive fieldwork worldwide.
