NSU’s B.S.B.A. in Business of Health is designed as a pre-med program. The curriculum includes foundational business courses as well as nine required courses in pre-med sciences and other health care related topics. This program not only prepares you to take the MCAT and pursue medical schools, such as NSU MD, but also helps you qualify for a number of top-earning careers in health care

The one-of-a-kind business of health major provides a comprehensive, flexible, transdisciplinary, problem-based and team-based learning experience, exposing students to the full continuum of the U.S. health ecosystem – taking a look at the upstream, midstream and downstream factors impacting the business of health, population health management, and healthcare delivery in the United States. The major is poised to prepare tomorrow’s leaders as agents of change who will develop innovative approaches to successfully tackle population health and healthcare management challenges of today and tomorrow. The general education and pre-med science courses also prepare students to take the MCAT exam and pursue medical school.

As an accounting major, you’ll learn how to navigate the challenges of an always-changing financial economy with ease. Not only will you learn how to create and maintain detailed financial records, but you’ll study the principles of business law, corporate finance and management.

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting major will give you the skills and practical knowledge that are essential to your success. 

Our curriculum will give you a strong foundation in key business areas, such as administration and operations, with a focus on accounting coursework at the introductory and intermediate levels. Upon successful completion of the program, you’ll also be prepared to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam, so you can start growing your career in public, private, or governmental accounting. This course focuses on use of data analytic tools to enhance the work of accounting professionals. Students will retrieve data from public databases, use data analytic tools to analyze the financial data, and evaluate the important implications of financial and nonfinancial information gathered from different sources to arrive at effectual judgment and decision-making on earnings management and fraud risk assessment. Students will also develop proficiency in addressing issues on the quality and reliability of sources of financial and nonfinancial data obtained from management and external sources. Students will work on projects aimed at enhancing their competency in critical thinking, problem-solving, written and oral communication, and data analytic skills.

The Master of Accounting with a concentration in Tax provides you with a foundation in advanced accounting skills. Our curriculum is guided by faculty with professional accounting experience outside of the classroom.

Upon completion of the program, you’ll be prepared to sit for the three-part comprehensive IRS test, covering individual and business tax returns. You may also be qualified to sit for the Uniform Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examination, depending on your chosen electives. Obtaining either of these credentials will put you in a position to dominate your career.
