Overview
The Psychology AA pathway is for students who plan to pursue a bachelor's degree in psychology at a college or university. This degree provides the lower division psychology major courses required at many universities while exposing students to the core principles and practices of the psychology field.
This degree enables students to develop a strong foundation in research methods, statistics and biological aspects of behavior, and will offer a variety of elective courses to help students develop their knowledge of human behavior, critical thinking, communication and problem-solving skills. Many university programs require the completion of specific courses prior to acceptance. It is the student's responsibility to contact the institution to ensure transferability.

Please note only 60 of these credits are needed for AA degree completion. Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

The criminology and criminal justice studies AS degree prepares you to work in corrections, juvenile justice, investigations, private security, homeland security or crime scene investigations. Graduates may transfer to a university to seek Bachelor’s degrees. Graduates of a law enforcement academy may receive college credit hours toward this degree. A variety of tracks are available depending on your career goals.
Career specializations may include fingerprint training, private security and investigations, victim advocacy, and crime analysis.

The HCC Philosophy Associate in Arts degree pathway is a for students who wish to pursue a bachelor's degree in philosophy at a college or university. The associate degree provides students with the foundational knowledge required to enhance their understanding of philosophy as a critical inquiry of nature and human society, to analyze and evaluate major paradigms in philosophy from historical and contemporary perspectives, to sharpen critical thinking and argumentative skills, and to prepare students to transfer to a university.
This degree offers students a fundamental understanding of the main fields of philosophy, including logic, ethics, epistemology, metaphysics, social and political philosophy, aesthetics, and philosophy of religion while exposing students to a broad spectrum of philosophical theories. Associate of Science in Early Childhood Education: Preschool Option
The demand for quality childcare providers continues to rise, resulting in numerous opportunities for well-trained early childhood professionals. In Hillsborough Community College’s Early Childhood Education Program, you will develop the skills you need to create safe, healthy and nurturing learning environments that meet the emotional, social, intellectual and physical needs of children in care.
The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment as early childhood professionals, preschool teachers, child development center managers, and to provide supplementary training for persons previously or currently employed in these occupations.
HCC’s early childhood programs (AS.EDU, AS.PRE) are designed to prepare students for the Florida Staff Credential. The academic requirements for professional certification in other states vary. HCC has not yet determined the status of this credential in all states.
HCC’s early childhood management course (EEC1521) meets the academic requirement for the Florida Director Credential. The academic requirements for administrative certification in other states vary. HCC has not yet determined the status of this credential in all states.
