Our department offers a practical orientation to computer science; cutting-edge research; a congenial, award-winning faculty; and an active student population. Teaching and research areas in artificial intelligence, software engineering, networks and security, high performance computing, distributed systems, bioinformatics, computer vision, big data, and human-computer interaction.

Fermentation Science and Technology is a multidisciplinary major focusing on the science of fermented foods and beverages. The curriculum focuses on the science of the processes and methods involved with using microorganisms in the commercial production of fermented products. Courses in the major also emphasize the safety, culinary, and nutritional aspects of fermented foods and beverages. This major prepares students for employment in the fermented food and beverage industries in such roles as product development, processing, quality assurance and control, sensory evaluation, packaging, distribution, and plant management. Students enrolled in this major have the opportunity to participate in industry activities and professional organizations to increase their practical understanding of fermented food and beverage production, processing methods, and specific techniques.

The Biomedical Sciences major centers around physiology, cellular and molecular biology, and human and animal anatomy. Throughout your studies, you’ll be encouraged to select elective courses and laboratory research in specialty areas of endocrinology, pharmacology, neurophysiology, reproductive physiology, and cardiopulmonary physiology in order to tailor your educational experiences to meet your career dreams.

The Professional Masters Program in Toxicology transitions graduates into MD, DVM, PharmD and other professional programs, as well as prepares students for research careers in industry and academia. Toxicology integrates closely with other medical and applied disciplines including Pharmacology, Forensic Science, Environmental Health, Ecological Toxicology, Infectious Disease, Nutrition and Food Safety, and Veterinary Science.

The toxicology program ranges from 1-2 years, depending on student interests and career goals. Many students enhance their skill set and improve their competitiveness for professional programs by taking advantage of internships, group study & laboratory courses and research opportunities in additional semesters.

The Business major encourages critical thinking while exploring modern management theories, relevant business practices, and current industry trends. You’ll discover your interests along the way and begin to focus your studies based on your interests and talents. Then you can choose from 10 concentrations to merge your academic focus with your career goals.

Accounting - Concentration
Accounting is more than an asset on the balance sheet, or a dollar on the income statement. By studying accounting, you’ll learn how to run the numbers and file tax forms, but you’ll also develop the transformative skills to guide individuals and businesses, non-profits and government organizations toward stronger financial futures – playing a key role in their growth.

Successful accounting professionals translate financial data, craft compelling narratives and use their expertise to inform major business decisions, while predicting short- and long-term effects.

Students in this track will have the opportunity to build networks with CSU’s Institute for Research in the Social Sciences, Geospatial Centroid, the Graybill Statistics and Data Science Laboratory, and others on campus who use political or social science data. Students in this track will be trained to pursue careers as data analysts, researchers, and consultants in government, non-profits, campaigns, advocacy groups, or the private sector.

The B.F.A. in Art is considered the professional degree for studio art and art education majors, allowing you to explore various mediums and gain a foundational knowledge base in art history. You’ll get opportunities to learn from masters of their crafts as well as look back upon art throughout the ages, different forms of expression, and their impact on society.

Drawing - Concentration
The Drawing concentration includes a solid foundation in the basics of drawing, plus a strong emphasis on the advanced development of drawing as an art form in its own right. Initially, courses expose students to working from observation and thinking critically about observation as an attention-orienting skill. A variety of fundamental skills, research habits, techniques, and materials are explored through basic exercises and open projects. Perception skills and visual vocabulary are introduced to students through assignments, group critiques, and discussions. Throughout the program, students are expected to acquire, develop, and refine skills and to engage in an exploration of personal expression and ideas. Drawing concentration students are expected to be highly motivated individuals dedicated to the practice of drawing as a sophisticated art, and dedicated to thinking critically about their practice. Our program will assist them in developing their making and thinking aptitudes towards a body of work which displays an advanced level of visual challenge and aesthetics, as well as conveying a sense of content and meaning.

The Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences offers a wide variety of graduate opportunities in cancer biology and oncology; occupational and environmental health (i.e., industrial hygiene, ergonomics); health physics, radiation sciences (i.e., radiobiology, radioecology, radiochemistry) epidemiology and toxicology.

This interdisciplinary program examines the cultural and social construction of gender, explores the history, experiences, and contributions of women to society, and studies the influences of gender on the lives of women and men. Looking at the world through this lens allows us to more directly and effectively address issues of social justice and social change. By studying gender relations, students learn skills that work toward dismantling gender-based inequality and promote gender equity in various arenas of social life.
