The B.F.A. in Art is considered the professional degree for studio art and art education majors, allowing you to explore various mediums and gain a foundational knowledge base in art history. You’ll get opportunities to learn from masters of their crafts as well as look back upon art throughout the ages, different forms of expression, and their impact on society.

Electronic Art - Concentration
The Electronic Art concentration offers students the chance to create and critique within the context of digital methods and materials. By integrating digital media theories into their creative practice, students work with software and hardware to explore humanity’s relationship with the digital realm. These explorations can include game theory, experimental video techniques, net.art, user interface, software creation, the creation of social tools, installation work, physical computing, and code within the context of visual arts. Electronic art students are also encouraged to incorporate interdisciplinary, interactive, and collaborative practices in their work.

The Business major encourages critical thinking while exploring modern management theories, relevant business practices, and current industry trends. You’ll discover your interests along the way and begin to focus your studies based on your interests and talents. Then you can choose from 10 concentrations to merge your academic focus with your career goals.

Finance - Concentration
Every business has a distinct set of resources to consider — such as raw materials, human resources, products, or marketing — but everyone has one unifying resource they need to manage before they can pursue any of their goals: money.

By studying finance at the CSU College of Business, you’ll learn how to measure and analyze the ways that organizations grow and help them navigate through risks and toward success. If you’re interested in understanding how all the functions of a business are tied together and are a passionate problem-solver, a concentration in finance allows you to put your interests to work.

Our department offers a practical orientation to computer science; cutting-edge research; a congenial, award-winning faculty; and an active student population. Teaching and research areas in artificial intelligence, software engineering, networks and security, high performance computing, distributed systems, bioinformatics, computer vision, big data, and human-computer interaction.

Our M.S. program offers a range of opportunities in health-focused coursework that allows you to experience science-based, rigorous research first hand. Our graduate students are encouraged to seek out a lab that reflects their interests, where they can participate in hands on research in many disciplines of study, including health span, prevention and treatment of metabolic disorders, researching neuromuscular disease and disability, investigating cancer recurrence and engaging with the physical and mental health of active duty military and first responders. Students also have the opportunity to engage in outreach programs, work directly with undergraduates in both lab and classroom settings, and are a vital part of the HES academic ecosystem.

The Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences offers a wide variety of graduate opportunities in cancer biology and oncology; occupational and environmental health (i.e., industrial hygiene, ergonomics); health physics, radiation sciences (i.e., radiobiology, radioecology, radiochemistry) epidemiology and toxicology.

Passion. Innovation. Creative expression. When you major in Theatre at CSU, these words are much more than aspirations; you’ll live in them every single day. You’ll start with two foundational theatre years, then choose from three concentrations — Design and Technology, General Theatre, and Performance — where you’ll get to specialize in your interest areas and get deep experience to prepare you for your career.

Chemists study the atomic and molecular structure of physical matter and analyze how it changes. More specifically, they investigate how basic atomic and molecular components are combined and can be manipulated to produce useful or improved products. They also develop methods to measure atomic and molecular properties and their interactions, enabling insight into a range of processes from mining to clinical diagnostics. Chemistry majors develop a solid foundation in general chemistry and mathematics followed by course work in organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, and physics. The curriculum is rounded out by courses in the liberal and communications arts.

Chemistry majors are encouraged to participate in undergraduate research. Ample opportunities exist for undergraduate students to become involved in ground-breaking research in the laboratories of individual faculty members. Students have access to state-of-the-art equipment in faculty laboratories and the Central Instrument Facility including NMR, FTIR, UV/Vis, fluorescence, and mass spectrometers, vacuum lines, x-ray diffractometers and many more. Undergraduate research is strongly encouraged for any student considering a career in chemistry and many students complete supervised research for academic credit.

The History major is designed for students to expand their knowledge about the past, improve their ability to think logically and critically, and sharpen their powers of written and oral expression. History provides a rich background for learning abroad, studying languages, government, law, medicine, and beyond, and History majors at CSU come out with a well-rounded education that opens doors in almost any career field. The Major and Minor in History at CSU offer students courses that encompass human history around the world, as well as several distinct features linked to our history as Colorado’s Morrill Act land-grant university. We have led in the creation of graduate public history programs, and now have an undergraduate concentration in Digital and Public History, as well as concentrations in General History, Language, and Social Studies Teaching.

Our History majors work in many different careers in public history in museums, archives, state and local government agencies in historic preservation and cultural resources management, the National Park Service and Forest Service, and consulting; they work in schools as teachers and administrators; they work in public service; and they are prepared for graduate and professional school in a variety of fields. We offer internships in many of these fields for CSU credit to help students explore their interests in history.

The International Studies major is an interdisciplinary program designed to help you explore and understand the nature of diverse cultures and peoples. You’ll learn a broad range of subjects, all of which contribute to a wide range of job prospects from government, academics, law and foreign service to communications, media, journalism, and beyond. Within the major, you’ll have multiple opportunities to travel, learn languages, and explore cultures around the world. This major includes an accelerated option for students to graduate on a faster schedule.

Middle East and North African Studies - Concentration
This concentration emphasizes the interdisciplinary study of Middle East and North Africa cultures and societies. Courses include history, religion/philosophy, literature, art, and three years of Arabic language to give you the tools to understand and interpret this area’s past and present.

The department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is recognized both nationally and internationally for education, research, and service and outreach, and is ranked 31 among such programs in the USA.
