Organization and Innovation Management - Concentration
No matter the industry, no matter the business, managers play a key role in bringing diverse stakeholders and team members together to achieve common goals. From negotiating deadlines and budgets to overseeing projects and workgroups, management skills are integral to a variety of career paths.

The organization and innovation management concentration in the CSU College of Business refines your natural leadership skills. Through coursework taught by knowledgeable and engaging faculty, you’ll learn the skills you need to innovate, lead others and make informed and ethical decisions that advance both short- and long-term efforts.

Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) is an interdisciplinary major focusing on the health and development of individuals across the lifespan, within the context of diverse families and social identities. Students complete foundational coursework in human development (i.e., infancy and childhood, adolescence, emerging and young adulthood, middle and later adulthood/aging), family studies, and evidence-based prevention and intervention programming in human services. Students study theory and emerging research in the field and learn to identify risk and protective factors influencing cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development across the lifespan. During their final year, HDFS students apply knowledge and skills from foundational course work through participation in a semester-long internship. Internship is a hallmark of the degree program that serves as a culminating experience preparing students for a professional career with diverse populations, communities, and organizations. The HDFS major offers five concentrations that enable students to specialize within their degree and prepare for a variety of career paths in human services. In addition to selecting one of five concentrations, students have the opportunity to earn the Gerontology Interdisciplinary Minor, work toward Director Qualifications in early childhood settings, or apply to the Major in Early Childhood Education.  The HDFS department is committed to promoting the success and well-being of students from heterogeneous backgrounds and experiences.

The master’s degree in design and merchandising with a specialization in apparel and merchandising provides a focus on scientific discovery and creative scholarship grounded in sustainability, health and wellness, and social responsibility. You will have an opportunity to learn about and conduct research in diverse fields of the discipline including apparel design and production, consumer behavior, historic costume and textiles, merchandising, product development, social-psychological and cultural aspects of dress, and textile science supporting well-being.

The Master of Applied Statistics Statistical Science Specialization emphasizes the practical application of statistics. The innovative curriculum with 31 credits over 19 courses can be completed full-time in one year or part-time in two to four years. The program can be completed on-campus or online. This broad background in applied statistics will allow students to start working immediately as practicing statisticians upon graduation.

Performance - Concentration
CSU Theatre's Performance Concentration equips students with the skills needed to pursue a variety of fields related to their own creative and professional paths. Engaged with their passion and imagination, young performers receive rigorous training in text analysis, acting technique, movement, voice and speech, emotional expression, and critical thinking. In the process of understanding theatre, they make visceral connections between the physical, emotional, and scholarly as they harness their own stories and artistic vision.

The concentration emphasizes both the theoretical and practical aspects of theatre, and focuses on developing well-rounded, responsible artists, leaders, and communicators who value collaboration within an artistic community.

Our M.S. program offers a range of opportunities in health-focused coursework that allows you to experience science-based, rigorous research first hand. Our graduate students are encouraged to seek out a lab that reflects their interests, where they can participate in hands on research in many disciplines of study, including health span, prevention and treatment of metabolic disorders, researching neuromuscular disease and disability, investigating cancer recurrence and engaging with the physical and mental health of active duty military and first responders. Students also have the opportunity to engage in outreach programs, work directly with undergraduates in both lab and classroom settings, and are a vital part of the HES academic ecosystem.

The Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology offers superior research programs with multi-disciplinary approaches and is home to some of the finest biomedical researchers in the nation, working in highly specialized laboratories. Their research focuses on understanding the pathology, improving the diagnostics, and developing more effective treatments, vaccines and cures for internationally important infectious diseases.

It’s no secret that knowing other languages opens doors to a world of opportunities. This major offers undergraduate instruction in 10 languages, concentrations in French, German and Spanish, and opportunities for education abroad. You’ll gain the ability to communicate in another tongue, but also to analyze literary texts and films, to understand the workings of language, to appreciate diversity and to interact successfully across cultures.

Spanish - Concentration
Courses include language, linguistics, translation, Latin American literatures and cultures, Peninsular literatures and cultures and Transatlantic studies. Students join the Spanish Club, El Centro, and study abroad.
