The master’s in design and merchandising with a specialization in interior design has a focus on creativity, sustainability, and health and wellness. You will have the opportunity to research and learn about commercial design, cultural/global design, healthcare facilities design, and universal design all while focusing on person-environment relationships and a sense of place. Our M.S. program offers a range of opportunities in health-focused coursework that allows you to experience science-based, rigorous research first hand. Our graduate students are encouraged to seek out a lab that reflects their interests, where they can participate in hands on research in many disciplines of study, including health span, prevention and treatment of metabolic disorders, researching neuromuscular disease and disability, investigating cancer recurrence and engaging with the physical and mental health of active duty military and first responders. Graphic Design - Concentration
The Graphic Design concentration is closely aligned with the artistry, practices, and standards of excellence in the contemporary design professions. With an emphasis on rich processes, conceptual problem-solving, and technical proficiency, students are able to create effective expressions of visual communication in a variety of print and digital media. Experimental explorations of typography, illustration, and design systems are expected from participants of the program, as well as applications of design that address social impact and awareness. Design theory, history, and professional practices are discussed regularly with faculty. Projects and activities are designed to prepare students for the varied challenges and opportunities for professionals in visual communications.

The Department of Construction Management maintains close ties to the construction/engineering/architecture industry and offers applied research opportunities. The program focuses on research and theory with a strong emphasis on project management. The curriculum design allows students to tailor a portion of the specialization requirements to meet individual interests and goals.

The Watershed Science major is designed to give you a broad, scientific foundation in the study of water, how it moves across the land, and how different human activities affect water. You’ll come out with an array of job possibilities in the public and private sector, as well as skills to help preserve and protect earth’s most-important resource. The program capitalizes on its proximity to the Rocky Mountains, High Plains, and basins of Colorado to give students unique educational opportunities in outdoor laboratories.

Sustainable management of freshwater resources is an increasingly important and complex challenge in Colorado and worldwide, and we need scientists who can address complex water issues. The Watershed Science program focuses on how water moves through the landscape, what factors affect its quality, and how to manage water resources. Students begin their program by building a strong foundation in the physical and natural sciences in preparation for upper-division coursework in land-use hydrology, snow hydrology, water quality, and watershed problem analysis. Students gain hands-on experience with water measurements outside and in the lab, and build technical and writing skills to prepare them for careers in hydrology and water resources.
