Media and Communications is designed to investigate how media and communication shapes identity, society and democratic processes. Available as a major or minor program of study.

Whether your interest is in media production, film, social media, journalism, advertising, or the impact media messages have on our lives, a degree in media and communications at Drew can help you meet your goals.
Our major prepares students for graduate work or further professional training, as well as for positions in media and communications industries. Courses developed by faculty in more than a dozen disciplines allow students to explore all aspects of media and communication from the theoretical to the practical, including media analysis and documentary production.

International Relations
The Political Science and International Relations Department engages students in the study of how people govern themselves—from the smallest communities to the international system. In the town meeting, the halls of Congress or the United Nations, the great political questions are the same—how to reconcile individual aspirations and community needs, freedom and equality, authority and justice, participation and power.

The department offers students a major in Political Science and another one in International Relations. We also offer minors in Political Science, International Relations and Law Justice and Society.
International Relations is the study of the systems and structures that exist (or should exist) to address global concerns. The major provides students thought-provoking courses and multiple experiential learning opportunities, including the Semester on the United Nations, to explore how competing global, regional or domestic factors affect relations between state and non-state actors as they deal with an increasing number of global challenges and threats.

International Year One program in Pre-Engineering will prepare you to enter your next semester of a bachelor’s degree program at Drew University. Upon successful completion of International Year one and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your third year of undergraduate study at a number of well-known US universities.
This transition from an INTO program to a university degree program is called progression. You must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA per semester to remain in good academic standing in the Pathway program at Drew.

Mathematics
Mathematics lies at the heart of the liberal arts. Based in abstraction and logical reasoning, mathematics is both a body of knowledge and an elegant and useful way of perceiving our world. Through mathematics, we can distill and describe the otherwise hidden patterns and relations among things. Because of this, mathematics finds ubiquitous application, from the natural and social sciences to the humanities and the arts. Precise abstraction and quantification play an increasingly important role in these diverse areas, and the study of mathematics can provide a foundation for any of them.

It has inspired the creative work of mathematicians, philosophers and social scientists. Drew’s program is designed to provide rigorous preparation for those planning careers in the field, while also serving the needs of liberal arts students interested in a variety of other careers.

Business
The Business major takes an integrated, multifaceted, interdisciplinary, and critical approach to the study and practice of business. The program emphasizes teamwork; critical analysis; and quantitative, oral, and written communication skills.  Our graduates are prepared to work across many industries in diverse contexts, including corporations, non-profits, and public organizations, in both domestic and international settings, with others from different cultures and disciplinary perspectives.

Art
The Art Department offers a rigorous, supportive and personalized environment with a sound liberal arts foundation. We are committed to developing in each student the capacity for creative problem-solving in making art. The Dorothy Young Center for the Arts is home to the department’s offerings. An outstanding faculty of practicing artists, dedicated to both their art practice and teaching excellence is teamed with a rare depth of facility: amazing studios, brilliant light, safety, technology, and space.

Through thought-provoking courses and multiple experiential learning opportunities, including the possibility of taking courses in Washington, D.C., political science majors work closely with the faculty to explore politics and government from many different viewpoints.

The marketing major is a liberal arts program that takes an integrated, multidisciplinary, and critical approach to the study and practice of marketing. The major encompasses courses that emphasize strategic planning, data analysis, communication skills, and teamwork.  We will soon be offering a New York semester in marketing that gives our students the opportunities to meet with marketing experts and visit leading marketing firms.  Our graduates are prepared to work across many private and public organizations in a wide variety of marketing roles.

Economics
The Drew Economics Department has established three broad objectives for its economics curriculum. It teaches students analytical tools for understanding the functioning of economic systems, familiarizes them with the origin, character, and operation of economic institutions, and enables them to make informed judgments about economic policy.
