The Geographic and Cartographic Sciences, MS (GECA) focuses on the growing demand for scientists and professionals in the field of geographic information science, who use geographical approaches and tools such as geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, cartography, and geovisualization to address and solve geographic problems. This expertise is useful to a wide variety of employers in the federal, state, and local government sectors, as well as in business, industry, and non-profit organizations. The degree emphasizes a research-oriented, global systems approach to studying the Earth and its systems- the atmosphere, the hydrosphere, and the lithosphere, including their interrelationships and interactions with the biosphere. Applied Computer Science
The Bachelor of Science in Statistics is designed to provide a framework for students to develop connections between statistical concepts and theories, their impact to data science, and their applications to statistical practice. It will prepare statisticians to use modern statistical techniques to design studies, collect data, analyze and visualize high dimensional data sets, and draw valid conclusions in an increasingly data-centric world. In this program, students will meld the time-tested concepts and theories of statistics with modern methods of analysis, in order to interpret the data that is collected in nearly every discipline and every sector of industry and government.
