Overview
Electrical Engineering is the discipline that drives our increasingly-connected society. Electrical engineers design systems, devices, and algorithms that contribute innovative solutions across a broad spectrum of applications. The Electrical Engineering program offers the following concentrations: bioengineering, communications and networking, control and robotics, electronics, signal processing, and space-based systems. The graduates of our program develop reliable, secure, and high-speed communication networks and systems; apply modern signal processing algorithms to extract information from images, audio, video, sonar, and radio signals; apply control theory and robotics foundations to applications such as autonomous vehicles, humanoid robots, and multi-agent systems; design nanoscale devices for the highly integrated circuits that drive the Internet of Things, health-monitoring devices, smartphones, tablets, and modern-day computer systems; develop prosthetic devices, brain-machine interfaces, and systems to ameliorate neurological disorders. Students in this program will develop theoretical foundations, analytical capabilities, and practical hands-on skills in their chosen field of specialization. They will also develop the oral and written communication skills necessary to articulate their ideas and succeed as entrepreneurs, practicing engineers, or technical managers in high-tech companies.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

The Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) is an undergraduate liberal arts degree program for adult learners. It is designed primarily to deepen student knowledge in an academic area and foster critical thinking, analytic reasoning, and an ability to synthesize information.
The BAS articulates well with specialized Applied Associate Science (AAS) degree programs, providing a streamlined path to completion of traditional academic requirements leading to the baccalaureate degree. It meets students' professional and personal goals while developing a depth of knowledge and proficiency of skill that translates well to the workplace. However, it is not organized in the same way as a traditional baccalaureate degree. Students planning graduate study should consult with an academic advisor prior to undertaking this degree program.

Graduate Pathway in Applied Information Technology (2-Semester Pathway) Leading to Master of Science in Applied Information Technology
Students who successfully complete an INTO Mason Graduate Pathway or Graduate Bridge Program in Applied Information Technology are assured progression to a Mason graduate degree program upon submission of additional required application materials.
Upon successful completion of an INTO Mason Pathway program and meeting university requirements for graduate admission, you may enter your next semester of graduate study at George Mason University. This transition from an INTO Mason Pathway program to a university degree program is called 'progression'.
Applied Information Technology-M.S.

There is a growing national focus on the necessity for physical rehabilitation as a primary means to restore function to people living with chronic illnesses and disability to support both an improved quality of life and to promote a vibrant and productive society. Rehabilitation is necessary now more than ever. The faculty of the Department of Rehabilitation Science are researchers and leaders in the field and have developed a novel and evidence-based curriculum to better serve students interested in careers in physical rehabilitation.
The Bachelor of Science (BS) in rehabilitation science is a focused curriculum that integrates the basic sciences of anatomy, physiology, chemistry, and physics with the applied and clinical sciences to form a comprehensive study of human function and dysfunction and emerging rehabilitation interventions. Students will develop a broad understanding of the theories that are central to the discipline and explore a wide variety of approaches to functional assessment and evidence-based intervention.
