American Studies

American Studies at Hofstra University is an interdisciplinary program for undergraduates looking forward to graduate work and careers in public service, law, higher education, and other fields associated with the social sciences and humanities.

The American Studies program is intensive and extensive; intensive because America is the focus of the program, and extensive because students become proficient in many academic disciplines. Courses in English, history, philosophy, and political science are all integral to the program

Biology - Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental/Pre-Veterinary

The Bachelor of Science is appropriate for students planning graduate studies in biology and professional pursuits in the fields of biology, medicine or higher education. The BS has an options requirement – areas of specialized learning. Students in the Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media Studies program pursue one of three concentrations:

Art History
This degree offers classes in the study of art and architecture, from cave paintings to new media installations. Students learn about medieval art and works of the Italian Renaissance, the Romantic, Baroque, and Gothic Ages. They learn about artistic movements and how the study of art highlights issues related to politics, culture, and religion.

Understanding religions and the diversity of people’s beliefs and practices is crucial for comprehending global realities, learning to bridge differences, and succeeding in any career path.  If you choose to major in religion at Hofstra University, you will learn to think critically about life's big questions and religions’ impact on everyday life, as you prepare for a vibrant career in health care, law, international business, journalism, nonprofits, the arts, or other professions. Hofstra's religion program pairs academic study with real-world application to your chosen professional path.

As a religion major you will:
