Japanese Studies

The BA major in Japanese provides students with a solid foundation of Japanese language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening comprehension.  In addition, through carefully selected foundational and elective courses, students gain an understanding of Japan’s literary and cultural traditions and history.  Students are encouraged to augment their study of Japanese at Hofstra with study abroad.

This degree is for students who may be interested in a double major in areas such as education, marketing, computer science, or film. Students have the option of a general fine arts degree, or a specialization in design, painting, or sculpture-industrial design.

Health informatics, one of the most high-demand sectors in information technology, is transforming the healthcare industry and improving the quality of patient care. The concentration in Networking and Cybersecurity is aimed at educating students in the growing field of cybersecurity.  Security of data and computer systems is one of the most important topics in today's online world. Any application or system must have ways to prevent and protect from cyber attacks, to allow secure access and protection of data stored in distributed locations accessible online. Courses in this concentration offer a hands-on approach to learning networking, security and systems programming. All courses include a significant experiential component.

Mathematics - Actuarial Science

Applied Physics - Computer Science

The BS in Applied Physics allows students to combine the BS in Physics with a concentration in biochemistry, computer science, or engineering. The curriculum includes electives in humanities and social science to give the student a general background to supplement training as a specialist.
