Japanese
In a world brought ever closer by technology, trade, and transportation, fluency in a foreign language will make a tremendous difference in your earning power, how high you can climb the corporate ladder, and your ability to expand your professional and personal networks.

The study of languages will help you understand the world better, become more culturally sensitive, and train you to adjust to new environments quickly. Learning languages will improve your writing and train you to look at things from many points of view.

Do you see yourself developing the next big app or mobile game, or designing software that helps solve real-world challenges? Study the computer technology and systems that touch virtually all aspects of modern society, from business and health care to banking, government, and communication. 

Lay a strong foundation in programming and application development, algorithms, computer architecture, operating systems, and software engineering, and choose from three tracks of study: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Cybersecurity.

Web and Mobile Engineering

The concentration in Web and Mobile Engineering is aimed at educating students in the field of Web and mobile computer applications. This is a continually growing and changing field. Almost all computer applications must provide access on the Web and/or mobile devices. Courses in this concentration offer a hands-on approach to learning Web and mobile programming.

As a student in our finance program, you will learn how to assess risk and use financial modeling to game out different strategies and scenarios. You will develop an understanding of how economic policy moves markets and drives values. And you will study and learn how individuals make decisions about money and investing, and how those decisions affect big-picture outcomes.

The major concentration enables students to establish a strong base of specialized knowledge in one of the areas of study represented in the Zarb School of Business. This complements the skills in the various functional areas of business, as well as the professional leadership and management orientation.

The Bachelor of Science is appropriate for students planning graduate studies in biology and professional pursuits in the fields of biology, medicine or higher education. The BS has an options requirement – areas of specialized learning. Choose from Cell and Molecular Biology; Ecology and Evolution; Marine Biology; Pre-Medical, Pre-Dental and Pre-Veterinary Studies; and Secondary Education.

Theory/Composition Concentration
This concentration prepares student musicians for advanced study leading to careers in music theory, composition, or other allied areas of music.

Sustainability

Help solve the biggest challenges of our time, from social injustices to climate change, when you enroll in the MA in Sustainability program at Hofstra University. This program takes a balanced approach in trying to understand how to make developed countries more sustainable while also addressing the sustainability crisis in the developing world. With a focus on entrepreneurship, community development and sustainability management, the program teaches students to be part of the emerging green economy. The BS in Physics is better suited for students who are planning careers as research scientists or in technology fields that require advanced degrees in physics or engineering.
