The study of sociology applies scientific theory to get to the root of how societies work and why they don't, and uses scientific tools to study and find solutions to problems such as gender and racial inequities, homelessness, poverty, and gun violence.

Urban Ecology
Urban Ecology is a subfield of ecology that deals with the distribution, abundance and interactions of plants and animals (including humans) within urban and suburban environments. Graduates with master's degrees in urban ecology find employment in a wide variety of public and private institutions and agencies, including environmental education, environmental consulting, natural resource management and conservation with both non-governmental and local/state/federal organizations. Some pursue advanced professional degrees.

Engineering Science - Civil
Civil engineers design and supervise large construction projects, including roads, buildings, airports, tunnels, dams, bridges, and systems for water supply and sewage treatment. Many civil engineers hold supervisory or administrative positions ranging from supervisor of a construction site to city engineer. Others work in design, construction, research, and teaching.

The new BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE AND CYBERSECURITY program is designed to produce graduates who are fully qualified as computer software and hardware developers, while at the same time, able to serve as information security officers, penetration testers, and network administrators. The program provides a solid foundation of computer science, emphasizing specifically the expertise in computing systems. The Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree is available through an on-campus CAHME-accredited program as well as an online program. The different learning formats allow students from New York City, Long Island, and other regions to develop and strengthen their health services knowledge, communication skills, and leadership skills. MHA graduates from both programs are expected to be practice-ready professionals who contribute to their organizations and communities.
