Women's Studies
The Women's Studies Program draws upon faculty with expertise in women’s and gender issues in the humanities, social sciences, and the arts. Courses in the program provide interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives on gender roles, allow students to examine the social, political, economic, intellectual, and cultural contributions of women past and present, and to study women’s and men’s lives in the context of changing gender roles.

The Bachelor of Arts is designed to give students a comprehensive understanding of biology and a strong liberal arts foundation. It is ideal for students planning to pursue graduate studies in another area, such as business, K-12 education, engineering or law.

Students may major in biology or urban ecology, and specializations are available in pre-health, cell/molecular biology, as well as marine and freshwater biology, ecology, secondary education and conservation biology, among others.

The BACHELOR of SCIENCE in COMPUTER ENGINEERING program is concerned with the design of hardware and software for computing devices and systems. Computer Engineering students take a rigorous set of courses in hardware and software related topics. Graduates with a degree in computer engineering typically secure jobs that involve the design of embedded systems, mobile devices, automotive sensing and control systems and biomedical devices to name a few. They are also capable of working in software roles such as software engineering and web and mobile development.

Students desiring intensive study at the undergraduate level to develop proficiency in the fields of computer engineering, such as hardware, software, and embedded systems, will find this program to be a challenging and rewarding experience. The curriculum provides a broad foundation in the science and engineering of computer systems software and hardware, and the design of digital and embedded systems. The broad range of Hofstra University resources in the humanities and social sciences make the liberal arts component especially enlightening.

Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering students concentrate in one of three areas: Biomechanics, Bioelectricity, or Pre-Med. You'll first build a foundation in universal engineering theories, mathematics, and the physical and life sciences, before moving on to courses in your area of interest:

Mathematical Economics
Economics is woven into the fabric of our society. It is the engine that drives and shapes public policy, determining how individuals and families live and work, how business and industry operate – in short, how the world works. If you’re curious about people and human behavior, have an interest in history and political science, and enjoy the structure and reasoning of mathematical-style analysis, you’d do well majoring in economics.

Do you have a talent for math and statistics? Are you a gamer who finds yourself following the stock market and business news the way your friends analyze box scores? Then you should consider studying finance, which is a great foundation for a career on Wall Street, in government, or as an entrepreneur.

As a student in our finance program, you will learn how to assess risk and use financial modeling to game out different strategies and scenarios. You will develop an understanding of how economic policy moves markets and drives values. And you will study and learn how individuals make decisions about money and investing, and how those decisions affect big-picture outcomes.

The BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE is the largest program in the Department of Computer Science and offers a deep foundation in the main areas of computing. There are a wide range of available concentrations to pursue in fields such as cybersecurity, gaming and animation, web and mobile applications, plus flexible choices of technical electives.

Web and Mobile Engineering

The concentration in Web and Mobile Engineering is aimed at educating students in the field of Web and mobile computer applications. This is a continually growing and changing field. Almost all computer applications must provide access on the Web and/or mobile devices. Courses in this concentration offer a hands-on approach to learning Web and mobile programming.
